Clean and simple art journal pages with Josefine

Hi everyone! Can you believe it's the end of February already? So much to do and not enough time in the day. Does that happen to you? I'm in the middle of several projects at work, doing my MBA, life in general - sometimes there is just not enough time to craft. But crafting is what keeps us sane, right? That's why I wanted to share some "clean and simple" (CAS) art journal pages with you that can be done in a few minutes. Just some fun, crafting, mess - and at the end, happiness.

To do that, I found a small art journal, so it feels less daunting to start. A small page is easier to fill, at least that was the idea. I added just a bit of white paint as my first layer.

Next, I used my small, round Gel Press, added three little paint drops to it, and spread it out. Then I used the "Cross Marks" and "Row of Numbers" stamp to remove paint from the Gel Press. Because I didn't want to waste it, I stamped them onto the next page.

To incorporate the mono print a bit more into the background, I used my palette knife to scrape a bit more white paint on top of it.

I added a few additional marks using a white gel pen and then stamped "Witch with Scarf on Broom" on top of the page.

For the sentiment, I stamped the "Black is the new Black" stamp onto a separate piece of paper, crumbled it up a bit, and then adhered it to the page.

And here is what I did with the second page. I also added a mono print with the same colors, but then stamped the "Scribbled Circle" on top in a slightly darker color.

For my focal image, I stamped "Death riding Pegasus" onto a piece of tissue paper and adhered it onto the page. Unfortunately, the tissue paper didn't disappear far enough into the background, so I had to get creative.

First, I added some white, watered-down, paint to simulate a cloud...

and then I added the "I'm not afraid" sentiment around it. Now it's barely noticeable.

Here are the two CAS art journal pages. I hope you enjoyed them and got some ideas for your quick projects when you have just a few minutes time.

Thanks for stopping by!

Vintage Mixed Media Card by Preeti D.

Hi friends :)
Hope you are doing well.
Preeti Datta (Dutt Preety) here from the VLVS! Design Team.
For today's post, I've created a Grungy Vintage Mixed Media Card
I've used some gorgeous VLVS! Rubber Stamps here.

I created the background by adhering design tapes to a panel of watercolour paper and then applied clear gesso on top.

Then, to add colour used distress inks and Oil Pastels.

Next, stamped the background using various archival inkpads and gorgeous rubber stamps by VLVS!

For the layering, used a Vintage Paper doll, some gauze, black die cuts and old book paper.

Layered the elements, stamped the quote using a VLVS! stamp and created white, black and brown ink splatter.

Distressed the edges of the panel using vintage photo distress ink and then matted the panel in black and kraft.

Finally adhered the panels to a 5 by 7 inch white card base.

Hi friends :)
Hope you are doing well.
Preeti Datta (Dutt Preety) here from the VLVS! Design Team.
For today's post, I've created a Pair of Simple Cards.
I've used some gorgeous VLVS! Rubber Stamps here.
I was inspired by Banksy Style Graffiti Art.

VLVS! Banksy stamps are amazing. I love them!

The process is quite simple. I stamped the VLVS! stamps onto watercolour paper.

Then die cut the panels using rectangle dies and did background stamping using grey archival ink.

Then did very light watercolouring using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.

Added the sentiments using Tim Holtz stickers. In the end, matted the panels in black and then white and adhered them to cream coloured A2 sized card bases.

For today's post, I've created an Art Journal Page.

I've used a wall stencil here to create the background.

I've used 2 colours of distress oxides to create the old, worn out, grungy look.

Art Journal Spread by Preeti D.

Hi friends :)
Hope you are doing well.
Preeti Datta (Dutt Preety) here from the VLVS! Design Team.
For today's post, I've created an Art Journal Spread titled Wanderlust.
I've used some gorgeous VLVS! Rubber Stamps here.

First, I applied heavy white gesso to the pages, to prepare them for mixed media work.

Then, stamped the background using VLVS! Stamps and Versamark sticky ink. Next, heat embossed all the stamped images with metallic embossing powder.
Added color to the background using Sprays & Starburst squirts. Sprayed with water to create movement.
Did additional stamping using archival ink & VLVS! Rubber Stamps.
Next, stamped the sentiment and focal image using VLVS! rubber stamps onto white cardstock using versamark watermark ink & heat embossed them in black. Then fussy cut the images & distressed their edges.
Adhered a couple of die cuts behind the sentiment and focal element.
In the end, distressed the edges of the pages using distress inks and created white & black splatter using watered down gesso.

VLVS! Supplies:

Other Supplies:
Lindy's Gang Embossing Powders, Starburst Squirts & Spray
Scrapman Dies
Versamark Watermark Inkpad
Finnabair's Heavy White Gesso, Heavy Black Gesso, Soft Matte Gel
