The road not taken ► Majo

Hello, my dear friends ♥

I just bought a few spiral books in different sizes. I create a new cover and give them away as little presents.

I used watercolor paper and inked my background using a lot of water.

After stamping the legs and the heart, I stamped and cut the heart on a piece of the same paper and used more of the “Victorian Velvet” to color it. I also used the solid bubbles for more interest. Same thing with the wings.

I used the numbers from set 1495 to give the background a bit of texture. The words finished off my panel.

I have used the following stamps:

Legs and heart from set 1459

Numbers from set 1495

Sentiment

Plese stay safe and always find time to craft, with love ♥

Mixed media card - three wise monkeys

Hey everyone,

February is cold and dull over here, so I thought I'd bring in some bright colors and created this fun mixed media card.

I'm a little addicted to slimline cards right now, so I started on a die cutted piece of paper and cut another slightly larger one from black cardstock. The background looks way more complicated than it is. I just stamped the harlequin background with two shades of Oxide Ink and sprayed it with water until I was happy with the way the colors dissolved. After it was dry, I added some stamped numbers using one of the background colors.

As a focal point I went with the three wise monkeys and Corrie's overlapping squares as I needed something for the chimpanzees to sit on. I stamped everything down, the squares twice, and colored the images with my alcohol markers.

I cut the images and inked the edges with a black marker. From the second image of the squares I cut some clusters. My plan was to have some parts of it raised with foam tape.

Then I built up my focal composition and glued everything down. To finifh the card, I just had to add that quote stamp and put my layers together.

Stamps used:

Harlequin Diamond Background (18920)
Numbers Set (19659)
Chimpanzee Set (10202)
Overlapping Squares by Corrie Herriman (19996)
If This Is Reality (19884)

Other material:
- Canson Watercolor paper
- black and white cardstock
- perfect coloring paper
- Spectrum Noir Illustrator alcohol marker
- Distress Oxide Ink (crackling campfire, rusty hinge)
- Crealies slimline die (clcz184)

See you soon with a new project!

Space Jelly by Tracy Blackwolf

Hello Everyone!!

I had this idea in my head for a while. Again, I love metallic, iridescent, and anything sparkly so that is the primary type of products used for this card.

I used a Matt Coat cardstock and applied Faded Jeans Distress Oxide ink using the "smooshing" technique. Dried that, then took my Pearl Ex water color pallet- duo and interference colors, and a paint brush and started adding  color at random all over. after that was dry, I took the wet brush and splattered on several colors for a stary look. I then took the Black Soot Distress spray stain and spritzed that on here and there.
Then for a more space look, I used Glimmer Mist Sprays: Spring Rain, Golden Salmon, and Spring Sun. They are very wet so I dried them a bit with my heat tool. I was going for that Nebula look. I then stamped the Astronaut and painted him with white shimmer water color. I used Glossy Accents for his helmet in two layers so it looks more dimensional. Then fussy cut him, Bending his arm and leg to give him a more floating look.

Next He needed a cord. I found some metallic paper cords in my stash but wanted a mechanical feel so I also added spun tinsel and threaded the paper cord through that. I put a  foam square behind him and also the cord and hot glued those to the back of the astronaut. Set him aside to finish the back ground stamping. I then took the jelly fish stamp and used black ink and Brilliance pad Peacock to randomly place the jelly fish. Jelly fish are kind of Alien like to me so I thought they fit the theme of this card. You can see how different the colors look by the way the light hits the card.

To finish up, I cut my layers of card stock how I liked, And before placing the image layer down, I taped the other end of the cord to the back side of it to hide the end. I wanted the suggestion of a ship close by that he's tethered to.
I hope you all feel inspired to reach for the stars and create away!

Stamps used:
Jellyfish (20059)
Astronaut (19367)

Other materials:

Versafine black ink

All others listed above.

BIRTHDAY CAT by Fran Chalmers

 Hi everyone

I'm more of a dog person than a cat person, but I do love this stamp of a singing cat playing guitar!

Firstly, I made the background by brayering two colours of distress oxides onto my 4" round gelli plate, then splashing with water drops (I put the gelli plate onto a large acrylic block so I can place it onto the card and see what I am getting!). I rarely get a perfect circle but I'm not bothered about that!

I then stamped the cat with Versafine Clair (Nocturne) onto card and embossed it with clear embossing powder, and then cut it out.  I put some musical washy tape on the card base for it to sit on, and also a bit to go under the sentiment.

After stamping the sentiment, I edged it with blue and mounted it on sticky pads to make it pop.

Lastly, I added splodges with a black posca pen (hitting it with a heavy ruler!) to add a bit of texture.

Hope you like it!

New Normal...HA!

It has almost been a year of on and off lock downs and I for one am STRUGGLING!

I created a card inspired by those feeling, hoping that if I got it out in my art it would help.  We will see!

Stamps used:  Chicken Wire, Say New Normal, Sasquatch

The Chicken Wire stamp was the very first Viva Las VegaStamp I purchased and it have been well loved!  Background is Brusho on watercolor paper with a tiny tag and masking tape layered on top.  Then I spritzed Distress Oxide Spray in Rustic Wilderness... OHHH how I love the splatters!!

Mr. Sasquatch is colored with Prisma Colored Pencils.  He is walking on washi designed by Miss DeeDee Catron at Um Wow Studio.

Creating ALWAYS makes me feel better!!!

I hope you are using some of your extra time at home creating too!!

Until next time...get inky!

Mail Art Monday - Stay home ..... ► Majo

Hello my dear friends, and belated HAPPY VALENTINES to you!

  MAIL ART MONDAY

I’m so concerned about this COVID19 situation, I just thought I look at the problem with a “smile”.

I can’t go out? Let the bees in!

I started by stamping the net on either side of my envelope, as an afterthought I should have done this on tissue to get it equal. Nevertheless, it looks ok to me.

I masked my address label with a piece of paper and inked the envelope with Distress Inks. For a bit more texture, I stamped the stars in according colors and added the bees.

Don’t you also love the sentiment, it’s one of my favorites at the moment.

I have used the following stamps:

19140

19819

Sentiment from Plate 1524

19013

19012

 Stay safe, my friends ♥

Thanks for stopping by!
