Mixed media tag - I lived in the darkness

Hi everyone,

I'm dropping in with a quick mixed media tag. This was made in about half an hour. So if you need a little something, this might be perfect for you.

I cut my tag to size - about 3 x 5 inch. For the background I layered some Oxide sprays. For each layer I sprayed one or two colors, added a little water and dried it before adding the next layer. After I was happy with the color I got, I finished the background with a few splatters of the red tone. Besides the tag I also prepared a piece of scrap paper from which I punched my reinforcement ring.

I stamped the reading man, one of the new Banksy stamps, onto some watercolor paper, cut him out and inked the edges in black. Directly on my tag I stamped the peace symbol. Initally, I planned to add some washi tape to the bottom of the tag to give the man something to stand on. But then the dumpster caught my eye and I thought why not turning this upside down! So the "step" you see in the bottom right corner is from that stamp.

To finish the tag, I glued the man to the tag using foam tape and added some found text fragments. I added the reinforcement ring and a string.

Stamps used:
Banksy Peace Symbol (20655)
Banksy Dumpster Fire (20650)
Banksy Man Reading (20657)

Other material:
- Canson watercolor paper
- Distress Oxide sprays (crackling campfire, walnut stain, iced spruce)
- Versafine Claire ink (nocturne)
- text fragments
- jute string

See you soon!

Red Lips by Fran

 Hello everyone!

Today I have made a CAS card using just two stamps and two colours. Hope you like it!

First I stamped the image in the middle of the card using grey ink as opposed to black so it was softer

I then used a distress ink through a stencil to get the "rays", being careful not to go over the main image.

I stamped the XO and coloured the hearts and the lips in bright red and the eyes in a very subtle blue

To finish off, I put glossy accent on the lips and the hearts

A relatively simple card, but I think it is quite effective.  That's all for now.  Happy crafting!

Stamps Used:

Facial Features

XO

Other Items Used:

Tim Holtz Layering stencil #003 Rays

Copic Pens

Distress ink in Hickory Smoke

Versafine Clair Grey Mist

Glossy Accents

In the shadow of trees by Tracy Blackwolf

 Hello!

This week I have a post card to share...

For the background I did the "smoosh" technique with oxide inks. Love the results that yields.

Have extra cardstock ready when you use that technique...

After it dried I stamped the tree and writing background stamp in Versaclaire ink. I then stamped the moon and clouds followed by the spiked fence stamp.
Then I stamped the distraught lady on white card and cut her out then painted her.
I used a gel glitter pen to highlight the clouds and fence and her eye. I love the effect.
I then Took a moon I had cast in resin and painted with white gesso, I painted it with H2O's watercolors going for a kind of grungy look. Found some verbage stickers in my stash, stuck on my lady with foam tape and called it done.  I hope you like it....See you next time friends!

Celebrate FREEDOM

Well here we are...6 months into 2021 and where I am from we just had all COVID restrictions lifted.  We are inching closer and closer to getting back to it.  AND here in the states we are very close to our Independence Day holiday.  These two things are what inspired my card today.

Stamps used:  Grunge American Flag, Banksy Peace Symbol

I mean...GRUNGE is my jam!!

I used Distress Heavy White Cardstock and Distress Ink (Speckled Egg) and Distress Spray (Pumice Stone) to start my background.  Then stamped the peace sign in Distress Ink (Speckled Egg) for some pattern.

The flag is stamped in Archival Ink and then with Distress Crayons (Festive Berries and Midnight Sketch) I did more grunging to the grunge flag.  My heart was HAPPY.

It is hard to see but of course a little sparkle on the star with stickles!!  I also used my paper distresser on the edges of the flag which is popped up for ATTENTION.

I am celebrating my freedom and the freedom of my country and remembering where it all came from.

Until next time...get inky!!

Index card - Please wait for dial tone

Hey everyone,

I'm still enjoying ICAD - which is the index card a day challenge - and so I wanted to share another inspiration card with you. The theme for this week is mixed media collage. My card features some of the stamps from the latest release.

I started with collaging some old torn papers in the background. Here I didn't take too much care about having nice straight edges. With my fingers, I added a little black and white paint on top. I just made sure that some of the vintage paper is still showing through. Next I stamped the rotary phone dial with the help of a stamping tool. Due to the slight texture on my card I wanted to stamp it multimple times. I also added the writings and scribbles collage stamp in different spots.

While looking at the new stamps, I thought the vintage man would make a nice focal point for the index card. I just didn't want to have the jars he's looking at, but cutting him without them was easy. I stamped him on some watercolor paper, colored him with watercolor, cut him out and inked the edges with a black marker.

To finish the card, I glued the man onto the card as well as some found words - I have grown a certain addiction for using text fragments over the last weeks.

Stamps used:
Rotary Phone Dial Grunge (20692)
Writing and Scribbles Collage (20695)
Vintage Man Examining Jars (20683)

Other material:
- index card, 3 x 5 inch
- Canson watercolor paper
- vintage paper
- Lukas acrylic paint (titanium white, iron oxide black)
- Versafine Claire Ink (nocturne)

The usual suspects ► Majo

 Hi, peeps!

Me again for your entertainment and inspiration.

I have yet another AMF project for you. You remember …. AMF = Art Meets Function.

This time I upcycled a box in which I received sunglasses. I kept it because it has magnets to open/close. I love it, it looks so elegant.

I stamped my lovely ladies and masked them. After adding (their) wings I colored the backgrounds and added more stamping for more interest.

I rubbed off the masking fluid and colored the ladies. I wasn’t sure about the sentiment, since I tend to give my art work as presents to my friends. Well, for this one I need to find someone special.

I have used a lot of stamps; I list them for you:

Ladies from plate 1517

Wings from plate 1523

Sentiment from plate 827

Doodle Dots

You are beautiful from plate 1471

Create Art every day from plate 1459

The small words (nobody saw) ..... also from plate 1517

Thanks so much for stopping over. You guys have a good time, stay safe, take care of yourselves and have fun crafting.

Luv ya 🧡
