Mail Art PostCard Made Easy

Hello again fellow stampers!!!

It's me Tera here with another fun mail art tutorial. This time I'm sharing a tutorial for a really fun postcard!

I love the look of vintage postcards so to create the vintage look and feel I decided to go with monochromatic colors and vintage looking stamps

I started by using a piece of card-stock that I cut to 4x6 inches... 

Next I laid out all of the stamps I wanted to use:

Coffee Ring Stain 2 3/4 x 2 1/4

Paris Address 1 1/2 x 3 1/4

Waybill / Invoice background

Businessman Silhouette 1 1/4 x 3 1/4

Pipe Smoker On Chair 2 1/4 x 3 1/4

Steam Train 3 1/4 x 2

I used VersaFine ink in Sepia

I started by stamping the man with pipe, I then covered it with a mask. Next I stamped the train slightly overlapping the man with pipe so that it would appear to be coming from behind him. I also added a mask over the train. the business man was stamped next, but I decided not to mask him so that the ledger stamp would show over top of him for more depth. after stamping the ledger in various places and direction I decided to stamp the coffee ring stamp randomly.  Lastly to finish the piece off I stamped Paris address and sponged on ink around the train and man with pipe. Before removing the masks I lightly sponged ink over the white spaces, then drug the ink pad around the edges to finish the complete vintage grunge look.

A VLVS! Inspired Layout

Hey all :) DeeDee here filling in! Today I'm sharing the full reveal of the sneak peek I hinted with recently.

I've since worked up a different project for the swap so I can now share with you the full layout!

I really have a ridiculous huge love for rubber stamps and use them on e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g.! Including scrapbook pages :) 

Sometimes I frequent back to the same stamps... when they're good they're good right? Like

But sometimes I get creative and use a stamp I normally wouldn't... in this case I used the Arrow to create a chevron pattern to the right of my layout. I just laid down a piece of paper as a mask along the right edge. Then inked my stamp in archival black and stamped along the edge of the paper and onto my layout background!

Other supplies include: May Arts ribbon in ivory and black stripe. Recycled cardboard, Tim Holtz Tag and bookplate die, Basic Grey epoxy brad, Prima canvas resist flowers, Ranger Archival Ink, vintage buttons and pearls, paper clips, faux stamen, a sewing machine and black thread, Creative Imaginations Stencil, Luminarte Silks in Solar Gold, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Roll top desk, MM eyelets, Gauche Alchemy Punchinella, Distress Inks in Black Soot, Walnut Stain, Vintage Photo.

VLVS! and Tags

Today I'm sharing a set of tags that debuted last week on the May Arts blog. I recently go take a trip to the coast of California and introduce my son to the Pacific Ocean!

To commemorate the event I made this set of tags:

All of them were stamped with Ranger Archival Ink straight onto the patterned paper or ribbon.

For the faux ribbon tape on the first tag I used Miracle Tape to give the ribbon adhesion. PERFECT!

Other products used: May Arts: XL09 – Ivory Suede Leaves, 393-25-01 – White flowers, EM02 – Ivory Net, and the Ivory Canvas.Paper: Black cardstock, My Mind’s Eye On The Bright Side. Inks: Ranger’s Archival Black, Distress Stain in Pumice Stone, a Uni-ball pen, Liquid Pearls, Tattered Angels Chalkboard mist in Charcoal. Stamps: Other: Pink Paislee Wooden Alphas, Helmar Quick Dry adhesive, double sided tape, Martha Stewart Punch, pearls, brads.

Sneak Peek Pen Nibs and Script!

Hey everybody, DeeDee here today :) 

I have a sneak peek of an upcoming event to share with you! I've been working on a lot of "not for the public's eyes" works... publication submissions, future blog hops, and even some collaborations with other artists! Today I'm sharing a sneak peek of a piece involving three different fabulous companies. Of course I had to be there to represent VLVS! and even though you can't see the whole piece yet, you can still marvel at some of the Viva Las VegaStamps! beauty. 

To create the corner of this work I used the

Pen Tips 2.75 x 2 - $9.00

and the

Writing Background 4 x 4 -$15.50

I stamped the pen tips in adirondak's Archival Black ink. For the script stamp I inked up the rubber with vintage photo distress stain and then misted it lightly with water. This created a sort of rained on old letter feel. I've also splashed some tattered angels charcoal mist and luminarte's solar gold silks. 

I promise you will get to see the rest of this project very soon.. and won't be disappointed!! 

A script in use..

This is a project I did for the Basically Bare Design Team.. but I can't not show it here, as it uses one of my FAVORITE all time VLVS! Stamps.. 

The Writing Background (4x4) $15.50 Mounted

I used it to stamp on chipboard in black memento ink, and also on canvas in memento which I embossed with Ultra High Embossing Powder.
