Dandelion Breeze any occasion card - by Cheetarah Cheda

Hi all! I'm back this week with a card I wanted to share based on our challenge this month.

This is the mood board for our january challenge. Nice vintage looking style and colors. 

And inspiration words like foliage, flowers, weeds, nature, bugs, moths, butterflies, wings, numbers, script, invoice, background stamps, vintage, tan, black, white, brown, distressed, grungy,... made me dig up some great VLVS! images to work with. A full list of stamps and other items I used are listed below.

 

I worked on thick vellum paper on which I used a circle stencil and light and fluffy modeling paste. Then went on to distress it with brownish Distress inks to get that vintage look going. The vellum is nice and smooth so you can get a great transition into colors. The main image I used for this card is Blowing Dandelion and Extra Seed by Susan M. Brown which I stamped twice. First with Staz-On timbre brown and then with versamark ink to emboss it in a golden honey pearl color. The timber brown stamped image gives a nice shadow effect under the embossed image. Then I used Postcards ATC size and other fun stamps for more interest. The sentiment "she flies with her own wings" is a part of this stamp by Cat Kerr which I thought would be fitting to add here. I also stamped this sentiment twice to get a shadow effect. 

After I matted the card on cream paper and adhered onto a black card (which I used Miracle Tape for!)
 I also embossed the dandelion and sentiment on the envelope, which is also in a honey pearl cream color.

They make a classy pair, the card and envelope and is ready to be written on and mailed out!

Dare to Dream... and Let your Heart Soar!

Hello everyone! Susan here my take on the Viva Las VegaStamps! June Challenge Inspiration Board. Luscious blues and greens... wings and words... I LOVE it!!! Challenges are a fun way to push yourself to try new things and new styles – and to be perfectly honest – this was way out of my creative box.

I started with a watercolor paper that I monoprinted with a blend of blue and green metallic Ranger Adirondack acrylics. Then I scribbled and smooshed on some blues and green Faber-Castell Gelatos to my liking. Using gel medium I fused a ghost monoprint on deli paper, which glues the layers together while giving translucency to colors below.

I wanted to have a scribbly heart so I made a dribbly heart mask by melting/drizzling Amazing Remelt onto my non-stick craft mat. I waited a few minutes for it to cool and solidify. Then I placed onto my background then sprayed with black Ditto glimmer spray.

I let the spray mostly dry before removing my handmade mask. Look at all the glorious blue and green exposed! I brushed some water at the top where the spray was still a bit wet and let the black color drip down. This was fun and a bit scary... I'm a total newb to the dripping technique.

I gave a blast with the heat gun to dry everything and added a few strokes of Gelatos to the heart. I stamp the butterfly onto a matching painted cardstock using black Versafine ink, then embossed with VLVS! ultra high gloss EP... and BAM!!! Wings that POP! I fussy cut and cut in half. To finish this mini masterpiece, I overstamp the bubble wrap texture and spell out "dare to dream" with Hero Arts Unicorn white pigment ink {this is the white of all white inks} and heat set.

I gently slide the collage into a Deflecto Acrylic Craft Frame and tucked the wings off each edge giving me a new georgeous piece free-standing art in an instant.

A day late but not a dollar short!

I am all aflutter because today yesterday is was National Butterfly Awareness Day! The main purpose of National Butterfly Awareness Day is to raise peoples’ awareness of Butterflies and their importance as pollinators in nature.

There is however one group of people who already know the importance of Butterflies – CRAFTERS! I can say with 100% certainty that each and every one of you has at least one Butterfly in your stash! Who am I kidding? You all have dozens, if not hundreds of Butterflies flying around your craft room.

THIS is one of my favorite butterfly quotes. I may be known as the EllenBee, but Butterflies are a close second to being my favorite insect.

I used a piece of leftover corrugated cardboard, a scrap of Prima Paper, leftover lace and a bit of ribbon to make this very simple wall hanging. I rubbed white paint onto the corrugated cardboard then added two layers of distressed pretty paper and a handful of paper butterflies. In the center is a journaling spot that I carefully stamped and then EMBOSSED.

The Metamorphosis of butterflies is one of the mysteries of Nature. The ability of these insects to change from the crawling caterpillar to the flying adult is magical. I believe it Butterflies, do you?

Just My Type!

I don’t usually hear voices but sometimes I see a stamp and it calls out to me. In this case, it actually wrote me a typed message that read - Take me home, you need me EllenBee. And so I did. And it now happily resides in a cigar box labeled VLVS.

To celebrate the arrival of this wonderful Vintage Hammond Typewriter Ad Stamp I decided to make a Vintage/Retro Secretary Album.

Directions

I started this easy project by lining each page with Kraft paper and then adding a slightly smaller piece of patterned paper over that. Then I stamped out the image on a small piece of Kraft paper and used the VLVS gloss powder to emboss. I next attached a strip of Washi tape on the bottom of the page and made a pocket using the Black paper and Miracle Tape. To that I added the stamped/embossed typewriter image. Pictures never do it justice but in person it is shiny – just like a new typewriter.

Does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight?

When I was around nine or ten my best friend Rita and I decided to hold a contest. Who could make the largest gum foil ball? Back then gum sticks came in a pack of five and each stick of gum was wrapped in a thin piece of paper stuck to an aluminum sheet. It took some patience but after stuffing each piece of gum into our mouth, we would carefully separate the foil from the paper and then roll the foil into a ball.

I honestly can’t recall how long our contest lasted, or who won, but I distinctly remember a huge argument over the accusation of cheating with Reynolds aluminum foil!
 

I decided to do a bit of research and found that our idea wasn’t exactly unique. Recently on eBay a vintage six pound gum foil ball sold for $299.99! I never received any money or notoriety from my ball, but am now having a bit of regret that I didn’t save it.
 

When I saw the adorable Tinfoil man stamp on the VLVS website I knew I just had to try my hand at making a real foil card. It was easier than I thought and I love the way it turned out.

I just made a simple greeting card and layered black cardstock on the cover. To emboss the tinfoil I used Miracle Tape to tape down the foil to a piece of cardstock. I then ran it through my Vagabond, cut the embossed piece to the desired size and glued it to the card. I added Silver Stickles to the stamped hats and then glued it to the card.

Have you ever made a tinfoil chewing gum ball? Or a tinfoil hat? The closest thing to a tinfoil hat that I ever wore was using a frozen orange juice can as a hair roller. Can you top that??

Elegance

Good Morning all my artsy stamping friend!

I have an awesome, gorgeous, pretty card to show you.

Pretty eh?
I used the Flower Elegant Bird 2.

Here is the link and a picture of it heat embossed using black pigment ink and
Ultra High Embossing Powder.

Its a pretty easy card.

1. Heat emboss the flower on clear acetate.

2. On the opposite site put some glitter glue and while still wet sprinkle glitter into the glue. Let it dry.

3. In the meantime, select some pretty paper to compliment the image.

4. Cut the stamped image out and adhere to the paper.

5. Add a pretty ribbon.

FIVE steps. Thats it. Art does not have to complicated to be beautiful.
This stamp is beautiful. I can imagine a whole set as a gift.

One final thing, I used MIRACLE TAPE to adhere the image to the card.
I really love this tape as its repositional. Then it becomes quite strong and permanent.

Summer Memories

Hi my art friends. I have an awesome ART journal page using a VIVA LAS VEGASTAMP

The stamp is called SURF SHACK.

Here is the stamp

First I stamped the image with clear embossing ink, and then embossed with a green and blue embossing powder.

One of my favorite mediums is watercolor. And i love love love twinking H2Os.

I created a lovely blue,teal and green watercolor background.

Simple eh? But the results are so pretty!

Then I added some journaling doodles using a black pen and a whiteout pen.

For the journaling part I wrote about one of my favorite summer memories.

Swimming in the ocean, watching the dolphins swimming in the distance.

Its fun to let yourself go and remember the moments that feed your soul. AND to find a stamp that helps with that process.
