Designated Riot Area

Hello Again Crafty Friends!

Today, I will be sharing one of my favorite things...

Mail Art!!!

Stamps Used:
Banksy bolt cutter Rat
Banksy designated riot area
Born to be wild
Jagged chain link fence

I started by stamping the rat with bolt cutter on and A2 envelope in archival ink -Jet black.

I masked the rat off, then stamped my chain link fence in archival ink- watering can. 

Next, I used a ruler to draw my grounding line, then stamped my designated riot area stamp. 

(archival- Jet black)

I used distress ink in hickory smoke to shade the fenced area.  I also used hickory smoke distress ink sprays to add some grunge/distressed flicks.  

I used alcohol markers in red to color my base. 

I also added my born to be wild stamp for added detail. 

To finish everything off, I used distress oxide ink in black soot to edge everything. 

I also added a few finishing flicks of dylusions black ink.

Monocle Mail Art Monday!

Happy Labor Day to all of you in the USA or just anyone wanting to celebrate!

Today, I will be sharing one of my favorite things...

Yep, Mail Art!!!

( And not just Mail Art... but Halloween Mail Art!)

Starting with an A2 Envelope I stamped my "monocle cat" in archival - jet black ink. However if you are going to color with alcohol base markers like I am you may want to use Memento for this. My Memento needs refilled and I wanted the cat to be very crisp which is why I was okay with a little bit of smearing of my colors.

With the leftover ink I stamps the cat a second time on scrap paper to create a mask. I cut the cat out and masked him off.

Next using memento ink I stamped my scallop along the edge.

(And of course many of you know this is one of my favorites so it would have to be a prominent stamp on this envelope.

Next remove the mask from the cat and shows to color at the border and Cat with various alcohol-based markers. I wanted to see how they look before picking out my background color. Following traditional Halloween colors..  I went with of course: purples, oranges,yellows, and greens.

With my main images colored I am ready to create the background. I re masked off the cat and scallops.

The background was Inked with distress oxide in mustard seed and ripe persimmon. While everything is still masked off, I added my star details to the background (also using ripe persimmon distress oxide ink).

Of course the fun part is always removing the masks and seeing all your colors pop together.

Now for the finishing touches...

I added a Avery address label, used a black marker to trace the inner Edge oh, then finished everything off with my stitching stamp.

Mail Art Monday

Tera here again...

Today I want to share a little mail art Monday love with you all!

This is an envelope that I will be sending out to my niece soon.

I wanted something fun and sweet for her, so hopefully she likes this...

(she doesn't like my "creepy" stuff)

Stamp Used:

Pirate Otto

I started by stamping Otto on an A2 sized blank envelope using memento ink.

(I stamped him slightly off the edge to give more room for an address).

Using an alcohol marker I base colored Otto.  Then, I used a mini playing card to mask off a box for the address.  I used a black micron to trace around the card. With a distress blending tool and salty ocean distress ink, I added my base in layer to the envelope. 

(notice I got some on Otto, this is ok. It is water based if it drives you crazy you can lighten it with water)

I used a variety of water based and alcohol based markers to finish my coloring.

(i added green highlights and dots, which also hides the ink opps. Now it's just his texture ;D )

Now, we build the depth. Using the same blue and a distress layering stencil I added dots/blobs.

(and honestly I even love it at this point, and could have left it here.)

However, If you know me, I needed more... 

SO, of course I used a few distress oxides and 2 more stencils to really build depth. 

Yum!

Finally I added a few flicks of picked raspberry distress Oxide spray ink to match the teddy bear and add more visual interest.

I hope you all like this as much as I do!

Now I need to make my niece a card to go with this...

(I'm trying to get her hooked on mail art... haha)

Today I am happy to share some super fun mail art!

I started with and A2 Envelope, and began by stamping my lady with scissors and my typeset scallop in memento ink. 

Next, I masked everything off and created an address box.  I used distress ink in carved pumpkin, to color my background.  I used a Tim Holtz layering stencil (THMS078) to add depth. 

I used various Blick Markers to color everything after removing the masks.

To finish the envelope off, I stamped my sentiment and added a marching postage stamp. 

I hope you all get a chuckle from this envelope!

I started with an A2 Envelope and card base.

I forgot to take pictures until a few steps in, so I hope you understand my description.
I started by inking my man with tea cup (when inking I masked off the head on the stamp). I stamped the body in memento ink. With the body stamped and dried, I masked this area off.

Next, I stamped the cows head in memento black and masked it off too.

On the envelope, I stamped my scalloped boarder "Doodle frame", and deliver to. I masked off the address area with a small block of paper, and masked off my boarder.

With everything masked off, I used Distress Oxide inks in: mustard seed, fossilized amber, ripe persimmon, and spiced marmalade. The stencils used were the Tim Holtz layering stencils. 

The best part... removing the masks....

And coloring the base pieces.

Now, the finishing touches...

I stamped my coffee ring stamp. I added a few flicks of distress stain inks in black soot, and picket fence. I also added a matching cactus stamp.

Below on my matching card, I added a Tim Holtz snarky sticker.

I hope you all enjoy this set. This was made special for a new friend whom is also a coffee lover as well as a fan of cows.

Nervous Breakdown Mailart Monday

Hello crafty friends!

It's Monday!
And, do you know what that means?
 Mail art of course! One of my favorite days of the week!!

Today I want to share an extra special piece with you is so fitting with how my last week has gone! I hope you all get a kick out of this and we'll up and matching card.

A2 card and envelope

Distress ink- candied apple, wild honey

Archival ink- jet black

Zig clean color markers 

Distress stain- black soot

I started by stamping my angry man on both the card base and the envelope base. As well, as on a separate piece of paper to create a mask.

I used post-it notes to create my address box, which also double as a mask for this area.

Next, I partially stamped the warn clock face on the top left corner of my envelope to give some depth. Or extra added depth I then used the dictionary page for more partial stamping all over.

With all my base stamping completed, I started to lay down my ink background. I used Wild Honey distress ink to cover the entire background layer.

With my inking done I felt they needed a little bit more texture and detail oh, so I used the tiny chevrons to add extra depth in the top left since eventually there will be a postage stamp on the top right.



After the background layer was where I wanted it, I used a Tim Holtz layering stencil to add candied apple distress ink for some texture. I also use the same color to Inca round the edges of the envelope.

I removed all of the masks, and decided to add my stitching to the sides of my address box. When I was satisfied with how everything looked I used my Zig clean color markers to color my main image.

I used the same colors to color the image on the card as well. To finish everything off I stamped my quote on my card oh, and added a few flicks of distress stain to my envelope.

To give extra flair, and top everything off...I added a basketball postage stamp. 

Which is perfectly fitting, since March is called "March Madness" for basketball season. 

This guy definitely looks like he has some Madness going on.

Today I want to share a little Valentines themed happy mail!

I just love this sassy queen! I started by stamping my beautiful queen and quote in memento ink on my A2 card base and envelope.  I used blick alcohol inks to color my queen. I masked off the queen then used Distress inks in Picked raspberry, worn lipstick, and festive berries.  I used Tim Holtz layering stencils to add extra details in the background. 

On the envelope I stamped my hearts in distress ink, festive berries. Using the same color, I stamped the french writing on the card background. 

To finish everything off, I flicked some perfect pearls mist in heirloom gold.
