Halloween tags with witch and death moth

Hey everyone,

just two days until Halloween, so of course I have another inspiration project for this. Today I want to share these two tags. I know, it might be a bit hard to see on the photo, but guess which material I used as a base?

... it's foil! Windmill foil to be exact.

I cut my two tags from the foil and colored them with alcohol inks and some blending solution. I worked on them as long as I was happy with the look.

 While they were drying, I stamped and cut two focal points - the witch with her broom and the death moth - on watercolor paper. I left a white boarder around both images. I usually don't do that, but I thought they needed a little more contrast to stand out against my colorful tags. Bonus: it made the cutting much easier. ;-)

To add more interest I chose a chipboard element for each tag and heatembossed it - my favorite thing to do with chipboard.

As my backgrounds have dried in the meantime, I could work a little more on them. I decided to turn the tag around and stamp on the smoother side without the alcohol ink. For stamping I used a white Stazeon ink which works really well on foil. I stamped the row of chakras as well as part of the tree stamp on the red tag and two different skulls and the branch antlers on the blue one. The tree and the antlers both create a similar look when you just stamp parts of it, but I wanted to give you double the inspiration. 

I finished the tags by glueing the chipboard pieces, the cutout images and a lot of thread on them and added one of the Tim Holtz stickers on each.

I haven't had my alcohol inks for a while now, but it was fun playing with them on the foil. And of course there are some cool possibilities of using foil tags for decoration such as placing them in front of an electric candle.

Something Wicked This Way Comes

 With Halloween just around the corner, I created this postcard in the spirit of the holidays and a little bit of humor on keeping up with "social distancing." This could easily be a journal page as well.

Supplies:

Witch Holding Broom

Banksy Gas Mask Flower Girl 

Kids with Giant Jack-o-Lantern

Field of Stars

Markers (I used Tombo standard pens) 

White Jelly Ink pen

Black permanent ink

Post-it notes for Masking stamped images

Scissors

 

 Directions:

1. I stamped the Banksy girl, the Jack-o-Lantern kids and the witch using the black ink, allowed to dry, then stamped these same stamps onto the post-it notes for masks. 

2. After cutting the images out of the post-it notes, they were applied over the stamped images to protect them from all the coloring I was going to do.

3. Using the stars stamp, the background was filled out. Something Wicked stamp, was also inked up then stamped center top over the stars.

4. Colored in the background and created a floor line while blending pens. Once background was colored, the masks were removed to allow those images to be then filled with color.

Spooky - Halloween/October Challenge 2019

welcome to SPOOKY...

Halloween 2019.

You might have guessed but this months challenge is.....

HALLOWEEN!!! (Insert spooky music)....

so for this project I've created a little tag and Step by step instructions...

 starting off with a Dylusions Tag, I added some magazine pieces, and then layered

a Kinder Kreations Tree stencil (KK1657) with Modelling Paste.

 allowed it to dry and then covered it with Black Gesso 

 Then I got out my first of my Halloween stamps

this super cool and slightly rude 

Skeleton Family (sku: 19206)

with black Stazon Ink. I stamped 3 of them because I wanted to layer them up.

 Fussy cut them out, with each layer taking a little more away.

 I coloured the last one with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide in Carved Pumpkin

The top two I just used Gel Medium

and for the bottom set I used some foam mount to add a little more dimension

 Next I went back to the background and stamped

in the bottom corners with Distress Oxide in Hickory Smoke

added some Lindy's Gang Angel Wings Sapphire Embossing powder and heat set it.

 Then I added the "stars"

 I added some fibres to the top and stitched the edges 

 then I added my Layered up Skeleton Family

Monocle Mail Art Monday!

Hello Again Crafty Friends!

Happy Labor Day to all of you in the USA or just anyone wanting to celebrate!

Today, I will be sharing one of my favorite things...

Yep, Mail Art!!!

( And not just Mail Art... but Halloween Mail Art!)

Starting with an A2 Envelope I stamped my "monocle cat" in archival - jet black ink. However if you are going to color with alcohol base markers like I am you may want to use Memento for this. My Memento needs refilled and I wanted the cat to be very crisp which is why I was okay with a little bit of smearing of my colors.

With the leftover ink I stamps the cat a second time on scrap paper to create a mask. I cut the cat out and masked him off.

Next using memento ink I stamped my scallop along the edge.

(And of course many of you know this is one of my favorites so it would have to be a prominent stamp on this envelope.

Next remove the mask from the cat and shows to color at the border and Cat with various alcohol-based markers. I wanted to see how they look before picking out my background color. Following traditional Halloween colors..  I went with of course: purples, oranges,yellows, and greens.

With my main images colored I am ready to create the background. I re masked off the cat and scallops.

The background was Inked with distress oxide in mustard seed and ripe persimmon. While everything is still masked off, I added my star details to the background (also using ripe persimmon distress oxide ink).

Of course the fun part is always removing the masks and seeing all your colors pop together.

Now for the finishing touches...

I added a Avery address label, used a black marker to trace the inner Edge oh, then finished everything off with my stitching stamp.

WOW!  September already and you know what that means???  My favorite card making season is upon us!
Michele here today and I LOVE making Halloween cards!!!
I am sharing one today using some new images from the last release.

Stamps used:  Raven Looking Up, Bats Over Moon, Beware Of, Cross Marks Background, Row Of Numbers.

My background is Distress Ink blended with a Nuvo blending brush (may favorite new blending technique) and splattered with water.  This is over the background stamps heat embossed with Ultra High Gloss Embossing Powder.

I absolutely LOVE the way water reacts with Distress Ink!!!

Perfect sentiment right??!!

Something Wicked...

Hello Crafty Friends! 

I hope you are all safe from the storms and doing well. 

Today I want to share an easy Halloween card.  I'm naming this card "something wicked" because of the sentiment inside... :) 

Stamps Used:

Other products:

Distress ink- carved pumpkin, spiced marmalade, and mustard seed. 

Distress oxidize -black soot and fossilized amber. 

Washi tape (bought at a yardsale)

Cardstock- black and white

Distress stain- black soot

Pop dots

Adhesive (miracle tape is a great one)

I started by creating my backgrounds.  The layer I stamped on I created with my inks and a blending tool.  The base was created with water and smooshed ink on my glass craft mat. 

(Look how great this creepy tree and owl are... this is just stunning on own!)

 

After the base pages were dry I stamped my tree on the top card base.  To add extra grunge I flicked a few drops of water on the base, and a few flicks of black distress stain added to the grungy creepy feel. 

I added the top layer to the base using the pop dots. 

(Sentiment on the inside)
