Journal cover

Hi Hermine here, Made this art journal cover for Journal 52, this event started in january already but  I couldn't decide how to make the cover untill last week.

  

This cover is made with the gelli plate. Put different colours acryllic paint on your gelli plate, then put some contrasting colours on a lid and stamp the circles onto the gelli plate. Put your cardstock on the gelli plate to lift the paint. Stamp the alphabet from the December Daily plate on this bakcground with Stazon black ink. Put aside  for a while to make the border. Stamp with different colours the line of Chevrons 18965 - Plaid 19336 - Washi reverse grid 19075 - Washi grid background 19074 - Washi Chevron background 19072  and Washi Lines background 19073 on white cardstock and cut to size. Glue the gelli print onto a piece of cardstock that is larger then the print and glue pieces of the border in place. Make some shadow with Lyra crayons and a waterbrush. Stamp the Whimsical Collage 19360 on a piece of Kromecote with Stazon black and colour with alchol ink markers and cut out. Glue this on the gelliprint. Use the December Daily plate 1430 to make the word journal and the five and 2, cut out. And glue on the gelliprint. Make some accents with a black marker. Finally glue the die-cut keys in place. Then glue the finished piece on the cover with miracle tape.

 

 

Here a sneek peek in my journal, these are the pages for week 1 and 2, for which I used VLVS images.

 

And because I was left with a piece of gelli print I decided to make a card out of it. I stamped Make a Wish 19040 on the background with Colorbox Chalkink. Then I took a piece of transparant sheet stamped the flying eye insect 19356 on it with Versamark and embossed with black embossing powder. Stapled them together with a stapler without staples and because that leaves holes you can thread ribbon through it to tie around the card. On the card itself I used distress ink and stamped the triangle banner 19043 at one side.

Think outside the box

Hi, Hermine here again. I love collecting things and always want to make the storage boxes look great. So I altered an old sigare box and turned it into a colourful one.

 

 

 

step 1: Slice a few millimeters from different colours of the Sakura of America Cray-Pas Expressionist Oil Pastels and put them in a row on the box. Then carefully let them melt using the heattool. Don;t keep the heattool to close at first because you will blow away the pieces of crayon. Starting at the back of the box working yoyur way to the front, I love to show the Original box so I didn;t cover up the front. Take the black crayon and heat with the heattool so it starts to drip, do the same with the white one.

step 2: take a piece of Kromecote and cut them the size of the side panels. Stamp Worn Clockface 19093 with Stazon Black. Mask this and stamp on the left and richt hand side the small wasp 19011, the Large Bee 19013 and the large wasp 19014. Sp;onge the sides with Aidorndack, remove the mask and color the worn clockface with Adirondack and a water brush. Make some white accents with sharpie pen and glue the panels on both sides.

step 3: take some black and white striped fabrix tape and put it on both sides of the lid.

Accordion Fold Card

 For my last project I'll be sharing a card using the brick, windmill and saying images from VLVS. I hope you enjoy this tutorial making my accordion fold card.

Cut 6 1/4 x 5 1/2" designer paper. Use Martha Stewart scoring tool; score and fold 1/2" twice on each end of rectangles.
Cut window opening with the large magnetic rectangle die using base tray and die cutting tool.

Set accordion fold card front aside. 

Cut 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" card stock, fold, apply Miracle Sheets to card front, leave protective film on for now. Set aside.
Cut 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" white card stock, stamp windmill scene with sepia ink.
Stamp only Windmill on eclipse tape, cut out, place mask over windmill on card stock, spray blue and green Dylusions ink over card, heat set, remove mask. 

Cut trimmed piece of designer paper to fit width of card front, stamp brick background with sepia ink, apply Miracle Tape, peel off adhesive and then adhere up to windmill.
On scrap piece of Kromecote glossy card stock stamp windmill scene with sepia ink, cut out windmill, adhere using Helmar acid free glue.

Stamp brick background on accordion fold card front, use stamp-a-ma-jig to center the saying Destination Unknown stamp over brick background.
Add 1/2" strip of Miracle tape to both of the outside strips of accordion fold card, peel off adhesive, apply to background, and then line up with folded card front, remove Miracle sheet on card front and apply to accordion fold to finish.

Hi, Hermine here. Love to work with canvases but with this canvas I like to work on the back because this has such a beautiful finish that it is more interesting to use the back instead of the front.

Some of the materials I collected to use in my project.

Step 1: Take a canvas and work on the backside. Paint a square with white acryllic paint and outline with a black marker. Take some tacky glue and make a smaller sqaure in the middle, when the glue gets transparant it gets sticky so you can use the metall leafing. Stamp with Stazon Black Dream Big 19047

 

Step 2: Take 3 of the wooden parts that come with the canvas (they where meant to use to stretch the canvas to pull it tight after working on it) and give them a white wash with white acryllic paint. Then stamp the Small Wasp 19011 with Stazon Black. Nail them on the bottom part of the wood of the canvas.

 

Step 3: Stamp the Grandville Chicken 18894 (twice) , The Grandville bug 18896  and the Grandville Hawk 18895 with Stazon Black on Kromecote. Make some red accents with a marker. Cut out and glue them on the Cloth pins and slide thecloth pins over the wooden parts. Take a piece of twine and glue this with PVA glue in the slot of the canvas to cover up the staples.

 

step 4: Make a star out of PVA Glue and adding some metall leafing and gold Pearls into the wet glue, let this dry for at least 2 or 3 days. Glue this on top. Take a little clock embellishment and glue on the right side of the star.

 

step 5: On the back you take a vellum quote and fasten it with different kinds of washi tape. Glue the Grandville Chicken 18894 on the right hand side. Put this aside and work on the "wheels".

 

step 6: take some vintage wooden spools and use some washi tape to enhance them. Take smaller wooden wheels, give them a white wash with white acryllic paint and stamp the Spotty Background 1461 on it with Colorbox Chalkink Charcoal. Glue them on on both sides of the wooden spools. Glue the spools at the bottom of canvas.

Friendship Card

Today I'll share my friendship card using these Viva Las VegaStamps!

 Boy & Girl with Bike; item 9205  2 3/4" x 4 1/2"
 and
Your friendship is a Hug;  item 820  3/4" x 3 3/4"

The boy and girl with bike was inked with Memento tuxedo black on Kromecote glossy card stock. Distress markers were used to color boy & girl with bike, trimmed and then edged with a brown distress ink.
The background was made with my Gelli printing plate, stencils and acrylic paint. The printed piece was trimmed and then applied to yellow card using Miracle Tape.
Use 1/2" Miracle Tape to adhere boy and girl with bike to front of card.
 Stamp your friendship is a hug on tattered banner die cut using black ink, edge with distress ink, fold ends, add 3 D foam squares in center and Miracle Tape on each end, adhere on card to finish.
