Altered Tile

Hi Everyone Judy here, today I'll share how a small white gloss ceramic tile
can be turned into a drink coaster.
Making a set of these would make a nice gift.

VLVS stamps and supplies used on this project:

Clean and dry tile. In ventilated area or outdoors spray tile with Krylon matte finish, leave in ventilated area until dry. This process preps the surface for the alcohol inks to stick to.
Apply one drop of two alcohol inks on felt applicator with one drop of blending solution in center of both and then apply on tile. The object is not to cover, but add a little color for a nice background. See photo below.

Stamp all the VLVS images listed above on trimmed tissue paper to fit top of tile with StazOn black ink, it's important to use a solvent ink for this technique.

With sharp scissors trim away most of tissue from images if you are layering some of the images over tile.
For best results let ink dry 30 minutes.
Set tile on wax paper, apply a thin film of Decoupage and Craft Paste on tile, gently place stamped writing background tissue over tile, smooth out wrinkles with fingers, let set about 10 minutes, stamp swirl image with StazOn black ink tile to fill in blank space and then gently add Decoupage and Craft Paste to trimmed stamped tissue images and adhere to tile.
Before setting aside, wipe excess Decoupage off edges, then set tile aside to dry at least 30 minutes before proceeding with next step.
Trim tissue away from edge with sharp scissors.

(A substitute for Decoupage; try matte gel medium.)

(trimmed stamped images with writing background and swirl on tile)

close-up

Sealing Tile:
Keep tile on wax paper, spray several coats of matte or glossy finish or
 brush on clear polyurethane.
Let each layer dry following directions on container.
( it's best to do the spraying in a well vented area or outdoors.)

Apply Inka-gold around edge of tile.
Finished Tile

Trim to fit cork and Miracle Sheets to fit, peel off adhesive and then apply to base of tile to finish.
(Note: Miracle Sheets is a perfect product adhering any art projects together.)

Other supplies:
Small Ceramic tile 3 3/4"
Helmar Decoupage and Craft Paste
Krylon Matte finish
Ranger Alcohol inks; Pesto, Ginger
Ranger felt applicator
StazOn jet black
Viva Inka-gold
Cork
Tacky glue

Be Adorable Tag

Hi there - Judy here, sharing a quick tag using three adorable images from plate 918

A 6 x 6" diamond stencil was used with Dylusions spray ink on a manila tag. While still wet I let some of the spray ink run. Set this aside to dry. Stamp the Be Adorable image with Memento black on white card stock, trim close, use distress ink to frame piece. Apply MiracleTape to Be Adorable and then adhere to tag. Stamp Boy in Cape with Memento black on white paper, cut close. Color image with Copic Markers. Color cut edges around Boy in Cape with black marker. Be careful not to add any color to front. Apply tiny 3-D foam dots to back of Boy in Cape image and then adhere to tag. Ink Chevron Banner  image with Memento black ink and stamp on tag.  Add two line stickers down left side of tag. Spray seam binding with Dylusions, wrinkle up, set aside to dry. Apply to tag.

Supplies
Copic markers
Distress markers
Starform stickers
Dylusions spray ink
Stencil

You won't believe this project from yesterday by Suzanne! She uses a whole plate of stamps and no patterned paper to create her layout.

Today I'm sharing a total of four projects! the first two come from Judy -- she was having so much fun with her new inks and stamps that she kept going after the first!

Judy used Clearsnap Archival Dye Glacier Lake and Wicked Black ink. Smooch Pearlized Accent Inks in Pumpkin, Sassy Pink and Gold Lame. She also used VLVS! images Explore, Men in Balloon Basket, Girl in Polka Dot Dress, Writing background , Diamond Harlequin BG and Ultra High Gloss Embossing Powder.

2nd up we have Susan M. Brown:

Tags are popular among our stamping crew, and scene stamping on them is a favorite! Susan used ColorBox Archival Dye Inks - Wicked Black and & Khaki Green; ColorBox Cats Eye Chalk Inks - Citrus Yellow, Lime Pastel, Wisteria, Creamy Brown, Orchid Pastel, and Prussian Blue; Smooch Spritz - Gingersnap; Smooch - Banana Custard, Sweet Melon, Lettuce, and Plum Berry from "JUICY" smooch mini kit. (Right?! Go girl!) As well as VLVS! Images Bunny looking Right Large, GrassLeprechaun on Mushroom,  and Mushroom. She finished off the tag with the letters for HOPPY from our December Daily Plate and the Easter stamp.

And last but certainly not least today we have Lea:

She's brought us this springy colored stunner by starting with Bo Bunny Press papers and enhancing them with VLVS! Stamps Orange and a Half and Feed Your Soul, as well as Clearnsap Sundance Yellow Smooch, Greenapple Smooch, Carrot Orange smooch

Now head over to the Clearsnap blog to see what they've cooked up :)

Framed Collage

Hi - Judy here, I enjoyed making this project using these images: face collage stamp, harlequin diamond background and art is the last. These stamped images are framed with a product I discovered six years ago and I'm amazed each time I use it.

VLVS stamps:

VLVS supplies:

Stamping:
Cut manila card stock 3 ½” x 5.” Use foam applicator to apply broken china and shattered straw inks to manila card stock, while ink is wet, spray with a little water and heat set to dry.
Ink harlequin diamond background with broken china ink and stamp over inked background.  Set aside.
Use black ink to stamp art is the last form of magic that exists image on die-cut piece, heat set, and then apply gathered twig distress ink to frame piece.
Stamp Face collage with Archival black on Kromecote glossy card stock, heat set, and then color image with distress markers. Trim face collage.  Set aside.

Tar Gel Frame:
Die cut frame front and back with chipboard, place frame on scrap paper, apply two coats of juniper dabber paint on frame, once dry, place frame down on wax paper, and then drizzle clear tar gel over the frame with a plastic fork or knife.

My suggestion; drizzle off the frame and drizzle back on for best results. The tar gel goes on milky but dries clear. You need blank areas for the next step. The clear tag gel should be syrupy. If not add a teaspoon of distilled water at a time to thin and stir with plastic knife.

When tar gel is dry and clear you are ready for the next step:
Rub a brown distress ink over frame; this will give the frame a vintage look. Set aside to dry and then wipe excess off the raised design. You will have a unique piece to frame your artwork.
Note: I have used this product on wood frames it turns out beautiful each time.
Finishing frame:
Use Miracle Tape to adhere face collage and quote on harlequin background. Sandwich frame and back of frame with Miracle Sheet. If you have the easel die add to back of frame to finish.
Finished piece: 4 1/4” x 6.”

Other supplies:
Sizzix Scallop Frame and Frame Back 4 1/4” x 6”
Sizzix easel die
Ranger distress inks; Gathered twig, broken china, shattered straw
Golden Clear Tar Gel
Ranger Dabber paint; juniper
Ranger archival black ink
Ranger Distress markers
Plastic knife
Sizzix die cutting tool and long cutting plates
Manila card stock
Piece of white card stock
Chipboard
Wax paper
Scrap paper

Have a nice day!

Desk Caddy

Hi there ~ Judy here, when I saw Mary Vogel Lozinak images from Viva Las VegaStamps! I knew they would be perfect for this project.
These caddies are perfect for pens, pencils and markers.

VLVS Stamps and Supplies:

This project was made with an empty commercial tissue roll measuring 3 1/2" x 3 1/2." These can vary in length and height. Don’t forget the cylinders or tubes that documents come in. These can be cut into projects using the same directions I have here.

Directions:
Make a 4 1/2" circle with Kraft paper or 1” larger than the roll.  Place the empty tissue roll in the center of the circle, draw around the outside of tissue roll with a pencil.
Cut ½” slits to pencil mark around the perimeter of the circle, fold slits up and fit around bottom opening, press the slits to fit over the base of roll.
Add Helmar acid free glue to a few slits at a time to make a good fit over bottom of roll. When you get all tabs glued, add a few rubber bands around the glued tabs, set aside to dry. Remove rubber bands when dry.

Basic covering technique was used to completely cover the tube with one sheet of 12" x 12" designer paper. Circle cutter was used to cut black card stock for bottom of desk caddy to coordinate with the finished project and designer paper for inside of tissue roll.
Stamp images on smooth off-white artist paper with Memento black. Leave 1” space between each image. You will need this space to cut and matte. Heat set to dry. Each stamped image was painted with Copic markers.
Use masking paper to stamp each image, cut-out just inside of image, place the mask over the finished image and then stamp blowing dandelion image with shattered straw distress ink. Remove mask. Trim and matte each image the same size on black card stock using Miracle Tape. Adhere each piece to desk caddy with Miracle Tape.

Adhere one little clear gem to Wheeley Monocle with Glossy Accents.
I've made several of these caddies to hold my Copic Markers! Each caddy holds approximately 28 markers.
