Like a Queen - Art Journal Page | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone! It's Sue Plumb here with my latest design team project with you. Today I am sharing a whimsical style art journal page that I created on some loose leaf black A4 cardstock. I don't often create on dark backgrounds, but I felt like a change of pace.

I started by creating my background using Dylusions acrylic paints and a stencil from StencilGirl. I stamped over the top using black ink with the Wildflowers Silhouette stamp; and around my page using the Sky of Stars Background with a Distress Oxide.

I created my "whimsical being" using a variety of stamped pieces put together - Striped LeggingsDressformSet of WingsCat Mermaid. I simply stamped, cut, coloured and pieced.

The border was stamped also using a Distress Oxide with the Doodle Frame stamp and I used the Treat Me Exactly Queen phrase stamp to add text to my page.

I used Distress Oxides again with the Beautiful Lily and Leaves and 3 Extra Leaves stamps to add extra detail over my background (love how these look over a black background!); and added gold splatters using a Heidi Swapp Color Shine spray.

You can see how I put this page together in my process video on the VLVS YouTube channel:

Thanks for stopping by so I could share this with you, I hope I have inspired you to get inky too!

Hop on in for Mail Art Monday...

Hello!

Welcome Back for another Mail Art Monday!

Stamps Used:
Creepy Rabbit by Tera Callihan
Hippitty Hoppitty

Today is an EXTRA fun piece for me because both of the stamps used on this piece are actually created by me!
(I hope you like them!)

To start, I used a piece of paper cut to 8.5in x 8.5 in
(which makes and A2 envelope when used with my envelope punch board)
I layered some Dylusions paints, Tim Holtz distress paint and Tim Holtz layering stencils to create my background.
(the colors I used were squeezed orange, pure sunshine, bubble gum pink, and white linen. I also used the Tim Holtz sponge dauber in picked raspberry and wild honey)

Next I added a few scraps of Tim Holtz tissue paper to add some visual interest.
After I got all of the background layers just right I stamped my bunny on the envelope and again on a separate piece of paper. I used a variety of markers to color him.

To glue him to the envelope I used Tim Holtz Distress Collage Medium, which really made the colors even more intense!
(yes I used this on the bottom and top of the bunny so he would be safe going through the post)

Lastly,  to finish everything off I stamped "Hippitty Hoppitty" by my little bunny!
Sorry I forgot to take progress photos, but you know how it is when you really get into a project! you have too much fun!

I can't wait to get this little guy paired up with the perfect stamp and mailed out to his new home!
Happy crafting!

Celebrate, lt's Mail Art Monday

Hello,
Welcome Back for another Mail Art Monday!

Today I wanted to share a birthday themed Postcard that I made for a friend.

Stamps Used:

To start, I used a piece of paper that I had already painted with some Dylusions paints, and a stencil.

Next, I stamped the set of birthday kids, and colored them with a variety of zig clean color markers.

After these were colored, I decided to add some more texture to the background with white Dylusions paints and a homemade stencil (I used a die cut to make it).

On a separate piece of paper I stamped my sentiment. I also decided the background needed just a touch more stamping...

Once I felt everything looked just like I had hoped I glued my sentiment on and glued my postcard to a sturdy piece of black card stock. I also hand drew some stitching around the edges.

Thank you for visiting, I hope you enjoy this Mail Art Monday inspiration.

Mini Art Journal Page: "My Beautiful Imperfection" by Jenn Engle

Hey Everyone! I have a page in my mini art journal to share today.  It is pretty straightforward and came together rather quickly.

STAMPS I USED!:
Writing Circles
Mesh Texture
Flying Insect Eye
Stitching Lines
Sawtooth Stitching Lines

First, I started with Blue and Teal Dylusions Paints, applied with a round Ink Blending Tool.

Next, I started stamping Writing Circles, Mesh Texture in matching inks on the background.
Then, I applied Texture Paste thru a Crackle Stencil. Once that was dry, I used my finger to go over it with Purple Dylusions Paint. Then, I hit a few spots with the teal paint. Finally, I went over all the edges (and about a inch or so in) with Black Dylusions on an Ink Blending Tool. I also stamped some Stitches coming in from the edges, as well.

For my focal image, I stamped The Flying Eye Insect once on my spread and once on white cardstock. I colored just the round part of my cardstock with Copic Markers, then cut that out. I adhered it over the stamped image on my spread. Added a quote. Et Viola! Done.
VLVS STAMPS USED!:

Art Journaling with Scraps

Hello stampers out there. I recently had some fun with one of Viva Las VegaStamps newest releases.

I played with the plate 1470. I decided to play with one of my scrap journal pages and a sheet from a mono print from my stash. I made my own gelatin plate and went to town with stencils and Dylusions Paints. I made several several prints talk about a fun night. Next time I want to try it with some deli paper though.

So here is my art journal page. I stamped the sentiment and the bookmark style stamp on white cardstock and cut them out.

I used a scrap of the mono print behind the sentiment and you can see the pattern behind in the background was the actual print.

Everything was adhered down with a matte gel medium so I could use my black PITT Pen and smudge a border around what I wanted a border on.

The actual background before I added everything had some blue gelato that I had wiped up off my craft sheet. I used a baby wipe and a stencil to take away some color.

Again I had no clue what I was doing but having fun with some scrap stuff I had laying around and some of the new stamps.

So grab some and have some fun and don't forget to share your work over at the VLVS Groupies Facebook Page!

Bright ATC's

Hey everyone. Shanna here today and I wanted to inspire you with some fun quick ATC's I made.

So for the first ATC I first coated it with yellow paint then I laid down a stencil and went over that with blue paint. I stamped the Whimsical Diver - 19354 and Into the Abyss - 19352 on white paper and cut them out, then glued them down.

I used the stamps In the Pale Moonlight - 19351 and Whimsical Patterned Moon - 19357 for my second ATC. I started with a base of pink paint then used blue again with a different stencil.

For my last ATC, I used the stamps Dictionary Page - 19015 and the stamp Winged Girl Under Umbrella - 19116. I started with yellow paint. Then pink through another stencil. I stamped the dictionary page on the background and then added the image with some Tim Holtz chit chat stickers.

I hope i inspired you.

Advernture awaits

Hello everyone,

For my DT post this time, I fancied doing a little canvas, so that is what I did. I made lots of photos of the process so go and get yourself a drink, sit down and enjoy !

First of all the finished article; I thought it came out nice.

And this is how I made this :

I started with a gessoed canvas, size 8"x 8" or 20 x 20 cm.

I used Dylusions paints and an old card to crape on the paint, you could of course just use a brush or your fingers !

This was the result.

Next I used a stencil and some model paste to create some texture.

This is what is looks like....

Next: Put the stencil back and use a blending tool and Dylusions paint white to accentuate the flowers.

The just become a little whiter.

Now with the same white paint, read some on your craft sheet with a brayer and use this as an ink pad. Then stamp the flowers a few times.

Here's what that looks like... make sure to wash your stamp straight away (and your stencil too) as dried paint is very hard to remove....

Next, I used a blending tool and Archival Ink to ink up the edges of the canvas. If you don't like this, you don't have to do this...

Next : Mark making. Use the same card you used for scraping the paint on and make marks with black paint.. You can see the result in the next photo...

Then the background gets stamped; I used black and grey Archival inks and a couple of stamps. (A complete list of all the stamps I used is at the bottom of this post.

This is what that looks like..

Now it is time for the main image. I stamped the bird twice on tissue paper with Archival ink and then clear embossed them. That way they get even more black. You then adhere them to the canvas with gel medium.

Here is what that looks like...

Next I took some Faber Castell Big Brush Markers to colour the birds a little.. I also stamped the sentiment "adventure awaits" at the bottom right.

A close up of both birds...

A view from the left...

 Front view...

 View from the right..

And here is the last photo of the finished project !

I have used the following stamps:

Thank you so much for stopping by today !
