She Was A WildFlower Mini Box

Hi!  and Happy Thursday!

Tina here today with my last Viva Las VegaStamps Design Team project.  (insert sad face)

I always love being part of the VLVS team and am always sad when it's time to say Good-Bye!

For my last project, I thought I'd share one of my favorite types of projects to create, little mini boxes.  Today's mini box doesn't have the typical mini embellishments decorating the inside, instead, I've decided to keep it simple, keeping the focus on the stamp embossed heart.

I love to stamp emboss with my rubber stamps, but keep the visual impact on my chipboard heart, I prepped my surface with black gesso, then embossed the crackle image with white embossing powder.  Talk about a POW!

To add a bit of iridescence, I sprayed the stamped image with some of my favorite Lindy's Stamp Gang spray mist.  Love how that looks against the black and white.

The inside of the box is simple, just a piece of vintage quilt.

To add a little more PUNCH to the heart, I added several red-dyed porcupine quills.

(maybe there is a subliminal message here. Actually in typing this post, there is alot of hidden messages with this project.  They just came to me ;) )

Mail art monday with Hermine

Hi Hermine here, I altered this box for my turn on mail art monday. The size is to fit two DVD boxes in it. I bought an blanc one, so awesome to turn it in to a colourful and btight one and its already on its way to Vegas.

step 1: lay the box flat on your work service and brayer on some acryllic paints, I used red, blue, yellow and green. Leave to dry. Then take a stencil and brayer qwith white acryllix paint. Leave to dry again.

step 2: mask off the area you want to put the adress in, but mask of the outside lines, paint in with white acryllic paint. Start enhancing the box with stamps. First I used the Writing Chevron 19824 and stamped with Colorbox Chalk Black bird

step 3 : Mask off the space for the adress,  then I stamped the Doodle Flower/garden 19828 on both sides of the bottom. And the Squiggly Star collage 19822 ont the address side of the box.

step 4: Then enhance some of the circles with Doodle Circle 19823. And last but not least stamp the Banksy Winged Mohaek guy 19602 on the left hand side of the address space.

step 5: fold the box, close the lid, write on the adress and sent away!!!!

Hope you like it.

Warmly Hermine

"Beauty in Simplicity" Layout by Fiona Paltridge

Hello VLVS peeps! Fiona here with you to share a layout I have created using some of the gorgeous rubber from Viva Las Vegastamps.

"Beauty in Simplicity"

I sued a water color stamping technique to create the background along with some sponging through one of my favourite stencils at the moment.

I stamped and fussy cut out the Squiggle Heart and Dressform and then colored them in with a coordinating paint color.

Some black splats and the Butterfly Specimen stamp with black ink finished it all off.

Nutty About Mail Art

Hello again,
it's me Tera here with a fun piece of mail art, that is just because I can.

When it comes to mail art I usually have a rhyme or reason,  but today I just created to create.  I basically picked stamps to use just because I liked them, and regardless of theme.

To start I began with a standard A2 envelope and stamped the fun little acorn.  I masked it off then stamped the doodle circles and grunge plus signs. ( I used them as an x)

The row of chevrons was used to create a focal spot for the address to be easily observed.

Now that all of the foreground stamping is done, I used various blue and green distress inks to lay color down on the background until I got a fade I was happy with.

From there i decided to add my background by stamping the numbers and dictionary page randomly in various distress inks.

Now to finish everything off i removed the mask and colored the acorn using a water brush and zig clean color markers. I also used black glitter pan pastels to edge around the acorn giving it a little bling.

May you touch dragonflies...

Hello everyone,

It is my turn on the Blog again and today I have an art journal spread to share with you. I have written a short tutorial for this page :

This is the finished page which I shall cut in half and glue into my mini journal..

I started with a piece of paper that was used for rolling of my brayer and cleaning my stencils when I was gelli printing. I often find that these pages are just as nice as the ones you plan and make.

I cut out the bit I wanted to use and decided to add some pink. I used my small round Gelli Plate for this. I applied the tiniest amounts of pink and white paint, rolled it out and pressed a rubber stamp in it to create texture and then stamped it on my page.

Here is the result, cool eh ?

Next, background stamping... I use whetever ink has the right colour. Not bothered about it being Archival or Distress or any other kind.

This is what that looked like. Now time to add black...

...using some script and the birds. After this is was time for the focal image...

I chose this lovely forest critter...

here she is in her full glory !

Time to add everything to the page...

and here is the result. I love those colours together...

I used the following stamps:

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

We're all in the same boat

Hi, Nikki here today with a fun 4" x 6" postcard.

I really like this image, Four Ladies in Boat, just look at the expression on their faces, aren't they great :

I guess the meaning of the wording is open to interpretation, deep and meaningful or just humorous .. what do you think ?

For this postcard, I used water soluble powders for the background, I love how the colors swirl and mix when you spritz it with water. I dabbed off the excess water from the sides.

Then I added some of the powder to my craft mat and sprayed it with water. Using this as a sort of stamp pad, to add some cloud like images on my background. I used Smear/smudge stamp to do that :

Then time to stamp my focal image. I stamped it onto the background, and then again onto plain white card stock, which I colored with alcohol markers and fussy cut :

Finally I glued my image over the top of the other, edged the postcard in black and mounted it onto black cardboard. The words were typed on my typewriter.

These ladies are adorable, here's a close up. You can just make out the crystal effects I added to their glasses to make them a little more reflective :)

I hope you found a little inspiration here :) Nikki x

Mail Art Monday with Fiona

Hello VLVS groupies! Fiona here with you for a "Mail Art Monday" YAY!!!

As a scrapbooker, I often send my work to an Australian magazine to be published and to do so I send my layouts in pizza boxes! This is my latest I created using the Viva Las Vegastamps!

I've been dying to use this gorgeous Dandelion stamp ever since it arrived in the mail! After blending some Distress ink colours over the box I stamped first with water to remove some of the colour and then with black ink.

The flock of geese in the top left hand corner balance the scene.

You can see the water mark effect here next to the "You Are Beautiful" stamp.
