Procraftinate - Quick ATCs

 Hey everyone,

you don't always have to spend endless hours on the crafting table to create something beautiful. So, even if you are quite busy, just take yourself a little time, craft and relax. Today's project is a set of four artist trading cards that I created in less than an hour.

The base layer is just black cardstock. The middle layer is some old paper from my stash, torn to the size a little bit smaller than the base.

Anf for the top layer I mixed four colors of Brushos with water and added them to a piece of watercolor paper. I just used one color for each card, but you can achive some cool effects by just adding layers with that one color.

 
I added a bunch of mixed media stamps and used foam tape to adhere it to the card base.
Now I just needed to add a quote and chose the "procraftinate" definition, stamped on some of the old paper to coordinate with the middle layer. I also added some pieces of the black cardstock that I had left behind the quote.

We are the weirdos

I don't know about you but this strange world we live in at the moment made me want to do a different, for me, weird project, so I have made a postcard with a Halloween theme.. :o)

Here's how I made it:

I heat embossed a text stamped and the spiderweb on a piece of Mixed Media card stock, using white for the text and silver for the web. 

Next I dunked the card into these colours Distress Oxide inks, drying in between. 

Here is a detail of how it looks. 

Next I added a little black stamping and inked the edges of the card with a blending tool and the brown Distress Oxide. I then stamped the raven and the sentiment on a piece of paper. I coloured the white bits of the bird with pencils. 

And here it is all put together. I matted the sentiment onto black card stock before adhering it and also added some doodle lines along some of the edges.

Is it time for Halloween yet? Spooky card with Josefine.

Halloween! My favorite time of the year for card making. While I'm waiting for the new Halloween stamps (from Plate 1504) to arrive at home, I wanted to get a head start with my Halloween crafts using some older Halloween stamps.

I started with a slightly different idea. I wanted to create a shining moon for the Bats over Moon stamp, so I started with ink blending a light color onto some watercolor paper.

But the moonlight ended up being a much larger area. I just rolled with it because I wanted to know where it takes me.

To add some initial texture, I sued some simple bubble wrap and stamped the same inks all over the background. Before stamping, I misted the bubble wrap with some water.

Then I added a variety of mark-making stamps to the background - again, using the same colors that I used for the initial ink blending.

Here you can see the finished background (waiting for the water to dry ;) ).

Now I stamped the bats.

I also stamped the Halloween labels onto a piece of cardstock and decorated it with some of the stamps that I used for the background. I then cut them out and distressed the edges.

I wanted to mount the card onto a separate piece of black cardstock to make it stand out a bit more. To give that background piece some texture, I stamped the Beware Of stamp using white ink. You don't see much of it at the end - mainly that awesome font.

After I adhered the pieces together, I added a bit of ribbon and a trinket - and voila, the first Halloween card of the year is done.

Wit a lot of fun texture :)

When my husband saw the card, he was reminded of the movie Suicide Squad... the colors match it pretty nicely.

Life is Beautiful...I Believe

Today I have a little reminder in all of the chaos of our world these days...

A little cute mixed with some Banksy...

Life IS Beautiful even in troubled times!  Stamped in archival ink on top of some brick wall stenciling with Distress Ink.

This cute fox is colored with Prisma Colored Pencils and blended with Gamsol.  He is so daper and you just KNOW he believes!!!

A little washi so he isn't floating and we have a card to send to someone who needs this little reminder!!

Super fun card that could be expanded into an art journal page fairly easily. Background was mostly Distress alcohol inks and oxides, with some stenciling across, stitched and fussy cut moths were layered over everything using glue and foam tape. 

Supplies:

Deathhead Moth 3 X 1 3/4

White Cardstock (60 pound or heavier is great)

Alcohol Inks in Reds, Orange and Purple

Blending Solution for Alcohol Inks

Permanent Black Ink

Pigment White Ink

Sewing machine with pink thread (optional)

Distress Oxides in Fossilized Amber and Wilted Violet 

Foam circular blending sponge

Mesh Stencil

Foam Tape

Glue

Instructions:

I usually try to make a bunch of backgrounds all at once in order to save on clean up and ink as I go. If you worry about getting ink on your hands, you can always use simple plastic gloves, but usually, I just go for it and use a Styrofoam tray to lay my white, pre-cut cards into. This paper was just cheap white card stock, porous and I cut them into standard sized postcard sizes. For probably an hour I just made all sorts of experimental color combos, using blending solution and then, allowing them to dry. The one I ended up using had a red-orange-purple combo that was pretty nifty.

Using permanent black ink, I stamped down two of the moths.  After they were dry, I took one of my sponges and dabbed it into the white pigment ink, then lightly stamped that onto the surface of the card leaving faint white circles. 

Sewing machine was ready with pink thread I had, so I just made a quick, loose border surrounding the images at the edges of the card in an enclosed rectangle.

 

After, I pulled out my Distress Oxides (Fossilized Amber and Wilted Violet) and went to town, blending across the surface and using this stencil to add more color and depth.

Stamping three of the moths on a white sheet of cardstock, I ended up coloring them with some pencils I had, then fussy cut them out.

Foam tap was doubled up on one of them, the next one had one layer and the last one, was glued directly to the cardstock.

The text came from a Tim Holtz sticker set, which completed the card.

 Hello, folks!

 

Today I will show you a card I made for my friend's wedding. Actually I'm still not sure wether or not to give it to her, She's a good sport, but my card ist kinda "strange".

 I started by painting the background with water colors and stamped my main image. I colored it with Distress ink and placed the road sign behind it. After I also gave it some color I stamped the "directions" and also gave the background some texture with doodle dots in the sky and the pretty flower/leaf stamp on the grass. 

I added my sentiment and just hope, that she can take a joke.
