She was a Dreamer : Guest MAJO

Hi folks!

Majo here from the Guest Inspiration Team.

I hope you are all doing well. I'm happy & excited to share a project for Viva Las VegaStamps.

I've created an Art Journal Spread "She was a dreamer" using some gorgeous VLVS! rubber stamps.

1.    I stamped the Whimsical Lettered Man twice, once on my spread and once on a piece of scrap paper to mask my image.
2.    I stamped all other elements in different colours over the image
3.    The main image was coloured with Pitt Artist pens
4.    To create some kind of a frame I added the stitches
5.    I stamped the sentiment several times without reinking my stamp
6.    I distressed the edges with some ink
7.    At last I added some inked water splashes

I have used the following stamps:

Other supplies:
Florence Watercolour Paper
Ranger Distress Inks

Thanks a lot for your precious time.

Art journal page: Freaking Awesome! By Elina

Hi!
I just love playing with the VLVS! stamps on my art journal books! Here's my newest creation I made in my small Moleskine book:

Isn't that 'Whimsical Lettered Man' image awesome! This time I decided to color it with quite conservative colors, but I'm sure next time I'll choose a more unusual color combo. That cool image for sure tolerates bold color choises :)

For coloring the background I cut a simple mask from plain printing paper. While keeping the mask still in place I stamped some random cross patterns on top of the green ink, using the same Distress color.

I stamped and colored three 'Whimsical Lettered Men' on the same go, as I also wanted to create two ATC's. I think they turned out very nice, too!

For these projects I used the following VLVS! stamps:

Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Hello my VLVS fans!!! Fiona here with you today to share a whimsical art doll I have created.

I won't go into too many details about how I made this gorgeous little doll. I'll leave you to watch the tutorial.

I'm not sure why I made him ..... I suppose I don't really need a reason.

But I have definitely fallen in love with him ..... He is my Transgender fairy Queen!

The tutorial is right here below. Sit back and relax and enjoy the madness!

Challenge Inspiration by Susanne

Hi my dear crafty friends!

It's Susanne here and I'd like to share two Artist Trading Cards today. I used our monthly challenge theme as my inspiration.

I love the stripes and the turquoise colour splashes!

I cut two 2.5" x 3.5" cards from heavy weight watercolor cardstock. I used a pink acrylic spray to give it some color. While this dried, I picked a gelli printed deli paper with orange hues and cut it to strips. I adhered those with Gel Medium and added some texture with the Dictonary Page, after it was dry. Now it was time to stamp the main images (Whimsical Horned Boy, Whimsical Lettered Man ). I used StazOn Jet Black ink. Of course I wanted to have these gorgeous turquoise splatters on my ATCs. I used Dylusions Paint "Vibrant Turquoise", thinned it down with a little bit of water, and added the splatters with a brush.
I used WOW! Opaque White powder to add the title and the sewing border on this card.

I added some doodling to this card with an acrylic fineliner.

Thank you for stopping by today. Don't forget to enter our February challenge!
xx Susanne.

Pencil Case Makeover

Hello VLV STAMP lovers! Fiona here with you today to share a little pictorial tutorial on how I gave my pencil case a makeover using the gorgeous new stamps by the very talented  Corrie Herriman and Tera Callihan.

I bought this little gem at K-Mart. It is made from canvas that has been dipped in a matt rubber covering on the bottom. It is very cool and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to give it a makeover!

I began by giving it a light coat of gesso and once that was dry I started to collage some old book pages, music sheets, stamps and other ephemera onto the gesso with some matt gel medium. While I waited for the first layer of gel medium to dry, I stamped out some of the girls new designs onto some old book paper and coloured them using some water soluble pastels. You could use anything you liked to give them some colour. Then I cut out and layered the stamped images on top of the layer of ephemera and gave it another coat of matt gel medium.

Next I added some white contrast with ultra white gesso. I scraped it over with a palette knife, then with my finger I added just a touch of black contrast using some black acrylic paint then finally I added my colour element. I only choose three colours to add because there was already a lot of colour going on with the stamped images.

Speaking of stamped images ..... I wanted a feature piece so I chose the Whimsical Lettered Man and stamped him in a place where there wasn't as much going on with some black Archival ink.

Tip: Place a hard cover book inside the pencil case to press onto when you stamp. It gives you a nice firm surface to work with.

Lastly .... and this is the best bit ... I added some white paint pen marks over the top of the black areas, I scribbled randomly and with my non dominant hand all over the front with a led pencil, I then outlined roughly any areas I wanted to enhance using a black biro (ball point pen) and then finally I added a little bit more black stamping with the little star and heart and some acrylic SPLASH! Ink.

Here is a list of the Viva Las Vegastamps I used:

I think you'll agree it looks much funkier now!!

Thanks for popping in to take a look and I'll see you all again soon xx
