I made an art tag for my project on the blog today-enjoy-

I started this tag by stamping the lady with the ax. I inked everything but the ax head, leaving that off so I could stamp the  net instead. Then I painted the images. I used a sparkle gel pen for the net rim and handle and her jewelry.

I then Painted the background using salvaged patina spray stain and old paper oxide spray.

Last I made the quote on transparency from my computer. A fun tag that can be used for a book mark or gift tag or any thing else you want.

If this is reality...

Hello everyone,

I'm Natalie and new to the design team. Hope to inspire you with my upcoming posts. Here's my first project to share with you. I recently started creating Memorydex cards and got kind of addicted with that. So I made one where I used the Banksy Dali stamp as my focal image.

To start I die cut the layers for the card from different paper. My base is a black cardstock, the middle layer is a gelli printed background I found in my stash and for the top layer I chose watercolor paper. I also stamped the Dali stamp on watercolor cardstock and cut it out.

To create the top layer of my card I smudged some Oxide Inks to a non-stick craft mat, added water and swiped my paper through the ink. I dried it between each color. I also did some background stamping with 'mesh texture' and 'writing triangles' in the same Oxides colors that I used before. 

I found this fantastic quote stamp which says "if this is reality I'm not interested". It had the perfect words but not the right size for my project. So I masked parts of the stamp and stamped word by word to rearrange the shape.

As a final step I glued my card layers on top of each other and added the Dali image that I cut out earlier.

Live Your Art | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!

Sue Plumb here to share my latest design team project with you. Today I have a mixed media scrapbook page that I created using some awesome Banksy stamps and a couple of photos of my son indulging in some spray paint art action.

This page was alllll about the background! I drew my inspiration from the colours and shapes in the photos to guide me as I constructed my layers. I began by adding some teal Kaisercraft acrylic paint in the centre of my page using a brayer. I then used a wide brush to apply some Colour Blast black heavy gesso in a few spots over the top of the teal paint.

Next, I took a yellow Faber-Castell gelato and added a few little scribbles here and there before using a baby wipe to blend them out into the background. I then went back with my brayer and some white acrylic paint and stripped back the colour a little in a few places. I used the Donna Downey "Live Your Art" stencil and sponged the title in using Staz On ink, then used a Posca paint pen to add a few highlights.

Now it was time for some stamping! I used the Banksy Salvador Dali Street Artist stamp and placed him at the beginning of my title. I also used the Banksy Who's Bad stamp to add the words above him. In the bottom corner of my page I used the Banksy Ladder Painter just underneath my title.

I wanted to add a bit of extra interest and help draw the viewer's eye through my title, so I used the Row Of Chevrons stamp and stamped it several times at the beginning of the title words. I then took a pink gelato and added some random scribbles to the page to mimic the pink on the art in the photos. I also splattered some Colour Blast 'Rainforest' Colour Spray. 

Next, it was time to add some textured layers for my photos to sit on. I used a paper doily, some punchinella and some frayed gauze. I then added some cardboard to the back of my photos to pop them up before adhering them on top.

After the photos were in place, I was able to add the Look mum I am a street artist quote using the Banksy Look Mum stamp. (Could there have been a more perfect quote for this page?!)
To finish off, I added some twisted pieces of coloured wire which I secured in place with staples; and then a few dots and spots using my favourite Doodle Dots stamp.

Art Journal: Creativity Takes Courage by Cheetarah

Hi everyone, I'm back this week with some more Banksy inspiration, this time for our February challenge. I made the art journal page in my pocket journal based on this month's mood board which is this:

Isn't it fantastic?? Words like reds, oranges, greens, blues, pinks, purples... ALL the colors! Spray paint, art, graffiti, artists, surrealism, banksy, stripes, splatters, drips, dots and more inspired me to take some fun stamps and my distress paints and play! A list of stamps and materials are at the bottom of this post. 

I took a page on which I already had some paint and texture on and dabbed some more distress paints in well, ALL the colors and had it run over the page from left to right. I dabbed them straight on the paper  and used a mini mister to get the paint run. Did this in layers and dried each time so the paint wouldn't get mixed/muddy. Then took some fun mixed media / texture stamps and stamped them randomly on the page with Staz-On inks. Then took out my Dali Stamp and worked out on where I wanted him placed with a stamped image on a clear sheet. 

Before I did that I wanted to convey a graffiti sprayed wall and used some Paper Artsy fresco paint in Hint of Mint the middle and with a mini mister I let some watery paint drip down. On it I stamped the "create art every day" phrase with Staz-On jet black. I spattered some of that fresco paints over the page as well as Liquitex black and gold INKS! I adhered Dali to the page and then into my pocket journal. Here are some detail shots:

I noticed the page I was working on had some script text with modeling paste on it as well which gave a lovely sub texture under all the layers of paints. Fun thing to discover :)

I added some black distress crayon to outline the page after I adhered it in my journal.

"Just Love Your Style" A layout by Fiona

Hellooooo VLVS peeps! Fiona Paltridge here with you today to share a layout I have created using some of the Graffiti themed stamps from Viva Las Vegastamps!

I'll let you in on a little secret ............ I once was a rat bag of a kid!

Yes I was one of those obnoxious teenagers in the 80's that thought that painting on a public wall was ok because it was "ART" and well because the wall was boring any way!

And then I grew up *shrug* 

Now I just deface pretty paper and stuff .... LOL

Either way that's where I learnt to write "street style" and what better way to put it to use than to add it to a grungy page!

 I can't say i ever thought it would come in handy knowing this skill ..... but you never know when you'll need to get your Graffiti on!!!

I'm a bit rusty but once I got started it all came flooding back. The VLVS stamps (The Banksy style one's in particular) just lend themselves to a street art kind of design.

I seriously had SOOOOOOOO much fun creating this. I'm pretty sure you'll see some more of my "street art" surface over the next few months!
