Directions:

1. Stamp both wings in black on the white card stock and once dry, fussy cut the wings and the belly dancer out. The Belly Dancer's background is trimmed completely off to just allow for the figure.

2. Using Distress Oxides and a blending brush, color in the figure and a bit on the wings. Wings were left mostly white except for the Blue China shadows.

3. Prepare the background of the journal by using Distress inks. I used my craft mat, swiped each color on it, then sprayed water.  I then dabbed the journal page into the various ink colors to get the effect I wanted of a sky. The inks used: Wilted Lilac, Chipped Sapphire, Salty Ocean & Mermaid Lagoon.

4. Using the Field of Stars stamp, I inked up using Mustard Seed and Seedless Preserves Distress inks and stamped across the background.

 

5. Position the wings to connect to the belly dancer as if they were coming out of her back. Once satisfied with the position, glue down the wings to the background slightly off center and tilted as though she were flying.

 6. Once everything is attached and dry, use black ink pen to carefully outline the figure.

Add sayings if you like.  For me, I liked how graphic she looked.

Life is a Carnival

 As Summer slowly fades into Fall, county fairs start up. Using the Spinning Swing Ride stamp and some Distress Oxides on a tag, reminds me of simpler times.

Supplies:

Spinning Swing Ride

Distress Oxides: Wilted Violet, Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade and Squeezed Lemonade

Blending Brushes (or any blending type tool)

Chipboard Tag

White Gesso

Black Pigment Ink

Black Embossing Powder 

Stencil Flower Dot (use any stencil you have on hand)

Texture Paste Copper Crackle

 

Directions:

1) Cover chipboard tag evenly with white gesso (if you have a tag that is on white chipboard, skipp this step).

 2) Stamp and emboss the stamp, positioning it to the left of the tag.

3) Apply in strips horizontally each color, purple, pink, orange and yello.

4) Blend colors with blending tool, color to color, edge to edge of pigment.

5) Find stencil and add texture metallic pastes.

This tag can have a tassel added and the sides inked with black as well, but I ended up leaving this as is.

Moon Enchanted

HI! My project today is one of my favs, i made a whole card set which i will share my over my next few post.

The one today is

Pretty Moon and Fairy stamp, along with the Enchanted Stamp.

The background was made using 140lb watercolour paper using ShinHan Tube Watercolous.

Using a wet brush cover the entire piece of paper, let it sit for just about 45 seconds and then dip your brush into the watercolour and begin dropping colour onto the paper. Letting the watercolour paints fluidly move and blend.
I then stamped my chosen stamps using Stazon Ink.
I then used my prisma coloured pencil to add shadows and colour to the card.

Honestly stamp art is easy, just have fun and play!

Come Sail Away to Some Stamped Deserted Islands...

Welcome to Viva Las Vegastamps! - it's finally FRIDAY and the weekend is almost here! Susan here today bringing a beautiful card made from leftovers and stamped images that are not "perfect". If you are like me, there's really no such thing as a "PERFECT" stamped image. It's the best out of several (or 10) stamped images, then you have a pile that are sent to the "Island of Misfit" images to the scrap box.

Remember the hurricane card I made a while back on shaving cream painted papers... well - the leftovers made their way into my project due to my "ONE TOUCH" rule this week. What is my "one touch" rule? Simple - if I pick something up in effort to find something for a project... it goes in the project, too. I started doing this to help me use up the leftover stuff sitting around that's usable and too good to throw away.

What do you do with leftovers and stamped images that aren't totally perfect... I make MOSAICS. Cut them up and piece them back together. The interesting design of the mosaic pattern adds interest and nobody will notice the stamping faux pas. And a nice fine point black pen for touch ups doesn't hurt, either. Before assembling into a border, I inked all edges with chalk ink to give a aged and weathered feel. I completed this mosaic border with some coordinating May Arts burlap twines that really add to the weathered nautical feel. Miracle Tape makes assembly quick and easy!

That ship in the bottom section of the border did bother me - it was slightly blurred and not completely clear. Another quick and easy fix... just add a layer! I stamped the larger ship onto another scrap of the shaving cream paper, torn around the edges and chalked with Clearsnap creamy brown cats eye chalk ink. Another mishap occurred when I came back a few days later to assemble my finished piece...the black StazOn ink reacted in a couple spots with my shaving cream paper and it blurred out around the masts. It looked like an oil stain and I was compelled to repair this also. So I used a white Signo Uniball pen to color over stained area and smudged out the edges. Then I used a fine point EK Millenium black pen to repair the mast and rope lines. I repeated the white in a few places to complete the look and looks like it was meant to be.

I layered this onto a brown paper bag envelope that I gently took apart to have a piece large enough to layer my mosaic border on. I had a fold at each edge of this paper... hmmm - it's such a perfect match, but that won't do. No worries! To camouflage the folds...I added more folds spaced equally apart - leaving an interesting and textural element to the paper. Another near miss. I mounted the completed piece on top of a plain wicker box. The aged nautical look is completed and my plain box will make a perfect Father's Day gift now.

Supplies used: STAMPS - Nautical Collage #19016, and Triple Mast Sailing Ship #19026, Also used matte natural finish cardstock, and brown paper bag envelope; Miracle Tape; 3-D foam mounting squares; Various May Arts Ribbons/trim; Black StazOn Ink; Ranger Weathered Wood and Peeled Paint Distress Ink for shaving cream painted paper; and Clearsnap Creamy Brown Chalk ink.

OK I am going to say I had SO much fun making this. I was so inspired by the awesome and crazy Mark Montano, he put up a tutorial on altered cans. Hmmmmm, my wheels starting turning....I am starting a new job Monday, Its with the same company BUT its a new job.
So i wanted to create something pretty to put on my desk.

DON'T EVER LET ANYONE DULL YOUR SPARKLE

So lets get started:

For my 2nd Post of January I will showcasing the same stamp, but HEY! its the most awesome stamp.

SUPPLIES:
1. Rinsed out soup can. Or any other can you have, drink mix can, vegetable can.
2. Rubber stamp of your CHOICE.
3. I selected favorite poems that spoke to me.
4. PaperFlowers
5. Ribbons
6. Brads
7. Inks,Sprays or Paints you love. I used twinkling H2o's and Radiant pearls and some Mica Mixers
(FYI- Here is a tutorial on how to make the ALTERED PAPERFLOWER.)
8.MIRACLE TAPE
9. Scrapbook Paper
10. Embellishments: Charms, buttons,glitter etc
11. Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks
INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Select your pretty Scrapbook Paper. Cut it to fit around the can. Put Miracle tape on the backside of the paper, i put it one the entire piece. Thats what I LOVE about Miracle Tape, it comes in Sheets!
At this point make your Altered PaperFlowers and let them dry.
2. Attach it around the outside of your can. The inside of my can, I put a few drops of Alcohol Inks in there and let it swish around. Mark Montano spray painted his.
3. I then selected poems, there was two that really spoke to me, because I am careful with copyrights, I also cut out the author of the poem and put it with the poem. I used Miracle Tape to put these on the can.
It sounds super easy and it is, placement took me forever as to me composition is very important to a piece, it has to be pleasing to my eye.
4.Stamp your sentiments on a piece of Scrapbook Paper. Attach to the top and each side of the can.
5. Now its time to use your sprays and inks or really whatever you want to use.
I chose my color scheme and just started spraying. It didn't think, i just wanted color, i wanted sparkle. I wanted this to inspire me at my new job.
6. I attached my flowers, and used some pretty ribbon to highlight the flower. Its ALL in the details, the brads in the middle of the flowers match and then it seems a little dark to me, SO i chose some green ribbon to compliment the purple.
IT'S SO PRETTY!
FYI- Anytime i accidently misjudged the tape and it hung over so therefore it was a sticky place on my art, just sprinkle some glitter.
7. Well if you have ever worked in an office, you know how easy pencils and pens walk off a desk. SO hmmmfph NO ONE is going to get away with taking my pencils LOL I even decorated them!!!!
8. REMEMBER TO MAKE IT YOURS, USE THOSE BUTTONS, CHARMS, BRADS , YOU HAVE BEEN SAVING FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL. BECAUSE YOU ARE SPECIAL!
My desk is going to look so Sparkily Goddess Love Shiney Glittery, its going to be full of great energy.

Just Keep Swimming

Hi my art friends! I have a fun tag that I created just for YOU!

I have been selected to be on the VIVA LAS VEGASTAMP DESIGN TEAM! Its a company in the United States that has thousands of unique rubber stamps, along with other art supplies.

So I am really excited to part of an awesome fun company.

FISHY CRACKER.

Its 1x 1 1/4 inches. I love it. I love to draw mermaids so I am sure you are going to see me use this cute little stamp again.
Here is a pic of the supplies I used.

1. Versamark ink pad
2. White embossing powder
3. White shipping tag
4. Twinkling H2Os
5. Water brush
6. The fishy cracker stamp

Note shown:
1. Sea Salt
2. Various pens for doodling.

First stamp the fish with the Versamark ink Pad, this is a clear ink, sprinkle the white embossing powder and heat emboss.
Once that is done, moisten the Twinkling H2O's with water and let them soften up a bit. Then begin to randomly paint over the entire tag. Don't worry about getting the watercolor paints on the stamp fish as the white embossed area acts like a resist.
While it is wet lightly sprinkle some sea salt on the wet areas.
Let it dry completely and then once dry wipe the sea salt off, it will leave small layered spots where the salt sucked up the paint.

Add some personal writing and doodles and a lovely art tag will appear!

This tag was inspired by "Finding Nemo". The scene where Nemo and is sad and about ready to give up and Dory played by the awesome Ellen Degeneres - but anyways she sings a song
