Witches Hat flat shaker card by Cathy N

Good morning, Cathy here with a flat shaker card for you.

I started off making the background with some watercolor paper and 3 colors of orange distress oxide.

I then stamped Victorian flourish and jack-o-lantern in the darkest orange that I used in the background.
Next, I started to make my flat shaker part of it. I took a piece of package plastic and taped it to 3 sides of my panel.
Then I added some bat and pumpkin sequence. That was not enough for me, so I added some black and bronze sequence to fill it out.

                                                              Stamps Used:

Lastly, I stamped Striped witch hat on white cardstock and colored with copic and cut out. Added to the front and then added some black stickles to the hat.

I added some Halloween washi to the bottom so the hat could sit on top of and added a little bat die cut.

Mail Art Monday Spook-tackular

Hello Everyone!

Tera here again,
Welcome back to another fun Mail Art Monday!

Today, I want to share a super fun and easy envelope just in time for Halloween.

To create this envelope, I started with an A2 envelope.  I started by stamping the Skeletons in the closet stamp.  I next used a ruler to continue the line for the "base board" to create a floor.

Next, I stamped the spider and web in the upper right corner. I used my micron marker in .005 to create the cracks in the "wall".

To color everything I used a variety of zig clean color brush pens. and distress inks to add a bit of shading around the edges.

I Put A Spell On You... Mail Art

Hello Again!

It's me Tera here with another fun Mail Art tutorial ...
No it's not Monday but, I couldn't resist making a few more Halloween envelopes.

Stamps Used:

Sitting Voodoo Doll

(Individual below)

Start by stamping the voodoo doll stamp in the bottom right then mask it off.  Next stamp the paperclip on the left side. draw a box to create a space for your address. (i traced around an ATC then you can keep it to use as a mask).  I then used a combination of the stamps listed above to add texture to my envelopes. I used a sponge to color the base of my envelopes, then used coordinating markers to add accent colors.

Thank You for visiting!
I hope you all have a spooktacular rest of October!

October 31 - by GDT Kathy Clayton

Hi, Kathy here . . . I'm back again!!! Last time I showed you a mixed media layout I did, so I thought I would show you a mixed media "tag". As many of you know, I am still pretty new at doing mixed media . . . but I am in LOVE with it. I try to add something extra to everything I do now, even to most of my CAS projects. :)

Since I absolutely LOVE Halloween, I decided to combine the best of both worlds . . .mixed media and Halloween. After a couple false starts, I finally got it together. Here's how it turned out:

VLVS products used:
Kids with Giant Jack 'o Lantern stamp #19209 http://www.vlvstamps.com/latest-releases-summer-2013/kids-with-giant-jack-o-lantern-3-1-4-x-3-1-4.html
Brick background #19077 http://www.vlvstamps.com/brick-background-2-1-4-x-5.html
High Gloss Embossing Powder
Miracle Tape

Other products: Mischievous by MME, wood paper from MME, UmWowStudio October 2012 kit, chipboard, cardboard, plastic lid, block letters from Tim Holtz, Vintage Photo and Black Soot distress ink, gesso, orange glitter, Timeless, Taupe & Tattered Leather mists, geltos (banana & blood orange), black Pitt pen, sandal & latte alcohol inks, cheesecloth, misc. flowers & grass, Tim Holze bottles, misc. dictionary pages, and misc. bottle labels,

The first thing I did was take and 2 of the orange pieces of paper from the Mischievous by MME and cut them to 9 1/2" x 12. Then cut the top two (2) corners to make them into a big "tag". Then using miracle tape adhered the paper to each side of the chipboard and then distressed it. Then using the brick background, I embossed it here 'n there on the front of the tag. Taking my dictionary pages, I distressed them with distress inks and then glued them on each side of the tag. Then using three (3) sprays (Timeless, Taupe & Tattered Leather),sprayed around the tag. I also sprayed some misc. pieces of cardboard and using glossy accents, put glitter on my lid . . . then adhered to my tag along with the cardboard pieces..I also colored my stamped
image and adhered it above the lid.

I used some wood paper and made my fence. But since I didn't like the color, I used Sandal and Latte alcohol inks and changed the color. Once it was dry, I adhered it on each side of the tag so it would bow out.

I fussy cut "O-C-T-O-B-E-R" from the block letters and used my geltos on them to help them match my tag a bit better. Using a glue gun, I adhered the letters to the outside edge of my lid. I also glued bats in three (3) places.

Using a burlap-wrapped toilet paper roll, I placed it behind my fence to use it like a table. I adhered several small bottles and added some fake grass and flowers.

I also sprayed some cheesecloth . . . then added that and a small book & tag from UmWowStudio Oct. 2012 kit. Added a few more drops of spray and I was done.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. If you want to know how you can win a $20 gift certificate from VLVS from ME, visit my blog "UpintheNightwithKat.blogspot.com" for details. Thanks again!!!

Crack the Glass with Floor Paste Wax

Supplies:
Johnson’s Paste Wax
Tsukineko - Ink Crystals – Walnut
Ultra High Gloss Clear Embossing Powder

VLVS! Stamps:
Tree Writing Collage 4 1/2 x 5 3/4All Hallows Eve 2 1/4 x 3 3/4
Ink/pads:
Ranger Archival Ink-Black
Tim Holtz Distress Ink-Vintage Photo
Ancient Page Re-Inker-Cardinal

Papers:
12x12 sheet Colorbök’s Specialty Pack
8.5 x 11 Paper Accents Heritage-Aged Parchment

Tools:
Scissors
Sponge daubers
Water (or Walnut crystals already mixed in water)
Brush

Creating the ‘Cracked Glass’ effect
Stamp the images in black on the Kromecote paper, leaving ½-1 inch around each so you can tear them out and still have white surrounding them.
Tear the images out.  You want rough edges.
Brush generous amount of wax over the entire surface of the Tree Collage Image.
Dip the brush in the Walnut crystals and brush them in the area surrounding your stamped image.  I brushed up around and over the edges of the image because I didn’t want an evenly ‘square’ look.  It can take a minute for the crystals to liquefy.  If they don’t liquefy, then add just a touch of water.
Drop a single drop of the Cardinal re-inker towards the bottom of the image and brush into the walnut stain.  A little Cardinal goes a long way, so be careful.
While the stain is still wet, heap on clear embossing powder to cover the entire waxed piece and heat ‘til melted.
Cover the entire piece in wax again, and again coat in embossing powder and heat.  Let cool.
Once the piece is cool, fold it in several places until the wax cracks.
Gently rub the Vintage Photo Distress ink over the cracked edges to bring them out.
Set this piece aside and repeat the whole process for the ‘All Hallow’s Eve’ piece.

Putting the card together
Place the Tree Collage piece you just finished on the 8.5 x 11 Aged Parchment sheet to eyeball the size.  Tear out a piece of the Aged Parchment so that is it roughly ¼ inch larger than the Tree collage piece.  You want rough edges.
Use the Miracle tape to adhere the tree collage to the Aged Parchment.  I tilted my Tree Collage slightly to once again avoid a straight-edged square look.
Take the 12x12 Colorbök’s sheet and fold it in half with the white side in, to make it a card.
Place the Parchment/Tree piece on the lower right of the Colorbök’s to eyeball the size.  Tear off the top off the Colorbök in a rough tombstone-like curve so that there will be about 1 inch around the Parchment/Tree piece.  You want rough edges.
Adhere the Parchment/Tree piece to the Colorbök with the Miracle tape.  Again, I tilted it a bit.
Drop a few crystals in a small amount of water (or used already mixed Walnut stain) and use a sponge to daub it on all the rough edges.
When the walnut stain is dry, tape the All Hallow’s Eve piece to the card.
Add whatever sentiment you wish to the inside of the card.
