Abstract Art Journal Page

Hello VLVS peeps! Fiona here with you today to share a little art journal page I have been working on. I have been inspired to create some abstract journal pages recently and the best addition to these pages are the amazing Viva Las Vegastamps!

My process ....... there is no process!!

Well that's not 100% true because I do always start by choosing my colors and then add them randomly to my page (with my fingers).

For me at the moment it is all about the layers. So after I add some color, I add some white gesso to fill the gaps and blend it all together and then I'll add some black to add contrast.

I am obsessed with circles at the present moment so everything I make has circles on it! The Doodle circle stamp is my ABSOLUTE favorite stamp to use on a journal page.

After a lot of adding and covering and scribbling with a pencil and then scribbling some more with a pen, I finally get to a point where I will add some stamping.

With this particular page I've also added some old stamps. I find ephemera so interesting and I love to use it as inspiration for my projects.

I hope you've enjoyed my art journal page and sort of understand the process not process that I follow!!

See you again soon xx

Greetings from Banksy

Hello World!

Tera here...

Today I want to share some quick and easy any occasion cards I created using some of the Banksy stamps on my ever growing stack of gelli prints.

(if you are like me you probably have a stack or some master boards lying around... so grab some and cut those bad boys up!!!)

... If you don't have any, then grab a brayer or sponge dobber and slap some paint on some cardstock for bases.. lol (thats basically what my bear card is) ...

The reason I love Banksy stamps on these is because they are so bold they will show up on busy backgrounds, or shine on simple ones too! Basically you can't go wrong!!

(stamps used listed at the bottom)

I also used some crayola slick sticks and Tim Holtz distress crayons for some extra shading and the circle doodles. For some added grunge I flicked black dylusions sprays randomly also... the black marker is micron for the extra doodles.

Stamps Used:
Plate 1482 (you save $ if you buy as a plate)

Thank you for visiting!
I hope you've enjoyed these fun off the wall greetings!
(I need to make more so I can use up my growing gelli print stack!)

Skulls and bones

Hi all!!
This months inspiration challenge is SPOOKTACULAR!!

Michele here today with some challenge inspiration...this month I did a canvas inspired by bones, skeletons, spooky, creepy halloween!

I have a little tutorial on the background to share but first, here is my canvas.

I started building my background with an Um Wow Studio stencil and some heavy gesso.

While that was drying I used some of the Tim Holtz tissue and stamped the Skull several times in grey ink.

In black archival ink I stamped the Humerus Bone around the edge of the canvas.

On the canvas I sprayed Antique Linen Distress Spray and water.

After some dry time...I used matt medium to put down the tissue.

I did a little random stamping with the Smear/Smudge and Ink Drips with brown archival inks.

The skulls on the tissue look like a watermark!!

I just love background stamping!!

And a look at the crackle in my resin skull cast using Amazing Casting Products.  Thanks to Tina Walker for the use of her mold!!!
I also used a chip cobweb from Um Wow Studios, a fuzzy spider from my stash, black thread, thickers and cheese cloth srayed with Distress Spray.

I hope you are inspired!!!  You can link up your creation here.

Until next time, get inky!!

Mixed Media Canvas by Jenn Engle

Hey everyone! I have a 4x4 canvas to share with you today. I used this Banksy stamp and made it into a really cool 3 dimensional piece for my canvas. Be sure to check out the video to see exactly how I made this project.

Stamp Used:

Check out the process video to see exactly how I made this canvas!
(All supplies listed & linked at the bottom of this post)

This is a very photo heavy post because I wanted you to get the best idea of how this looks in real life. There are so many different elements to it that look different when the light hits in different ways!

In the photo above and below, you can see my girl's fishing line is actually a thin wire that's 3-D!

The brown color is instant coffee. I love using instant coffee because it gives this perfect vintage brown color that I have not been able to replicate elsewhere. Plus it smells super good!

Thanks for looking!

Into the wild blue yonder.

Hello everyone,

Today I have an art journal for my DT post.

I coloured the rabbit ages ago with my Zig Clean Color Brush Markers (or whatever they are called). I decided to use him today. So I pulled out one of my Gelli Printed backgrounds and added some background stamping. I used Archival Inks and VersaMark with WOW embossing powder. When I was happy with that I stamped the rabbit on the page and cut out the one I had coloured. I glued him over the top. That was basically it.

I used the following stamps:

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

September Challenge Inspiration by Jenn Engle

Before I show you the project I made using the September Mood Board for inspiration, I have to make a confession. I had a hard time with this one!

So, I started looking thru my stamps and saw this adorable Creepy Rat with Cheese. Some of the prompt words for this month is critters, creatures, and creepy. I thought this lil guy fit perfectly!

I started out by coloring my guy with some copic markers, then attached him to this 7 Dots Studio paper. The only thing I did to the paper was distress the edges with Hickory Smoke distress ink.

Then, I started looking at my guy trying to think of a sentiment. This song lyric popped in my mind, "If looks could really kill, my profession would be staring". I thought this was perfect because of his blanked out creepy eyes.

I typed the sentiment out on my typewriter, colored the paper with copic markers and stuck it down. And that is it!
