Wings Are Ready

Hello everyone. Shanna here and I am beyond excited to be a part of the design team and here sharing my first post with you as a design team member.

Now on to the fun parts right!!!

I had so much fun picking out stamps and your head just pops with so many ideas. The thing I love most about the stamps is that you can color them or leave them plain stamped images. I love doing that as it makes the stamps pop off the project.

So I decided to kick it off with an art journal creation.

First I had some Tim Holtz tissue wrap that I added to my pages with some mate gel medium. After that I gave the pages a white wash with gesso.  Then I added some Dina Wakely Acrylic paint in the color turquoise and magenta. Spraying each color with some water to create paint drips.
Then I used the stamp Wildflower Silhouette - 19556 (Plate 1451) with a Distress Marker Crushed Olive and stamped it twice at the bottom of the page.

Then I thought the Girl with Wings - 19005 (Plate 893) would look perfect for this spread. So I stamped her with the StazOn Ink and fussy cut her out. Although I decided to go ahead and pop her wings up for dimension.

Then I couldn't help but add some glass bead gel for a little more texture.
Then I wanted to add some brown and went for my Twinkling H20's, using the colors Cedarwood and Autumn Butternut.

I tried hard to stick to the January challenge them the mood board is just amazing but I love pink and had to splash some in there.

Don't forget to enter the challenge HERE!

Wedding card

Hi, Hermine here, still playing around with the gorgeous stuff from Clearsnap. Now I made a weddingcard with this gorgeous ink and Smooch Glitz.

Step 1: take a sheet of watercolor paper and fold in half, draw a heart shape but remember to do that against the fold on the left hand side, so you will have a double card.
step 2: fold the card open and wet the right side of the card with water, let dry for a bit untill it feels damp. Then apply two colours ink, I used Colorbox Crafter's Aruba and Limon. then apply little dots and circles with Smooch Glitz Lime Twist. Heatset it. When completely dry apply little dots in each dot or circles with Smooch Glitz Gold Rush. Heatset again.
step 3: Stamp with Crafter's Aruba the brick background on the lower half of the heart, do this on both sides. Stamp with Crafter's Limon the washi grid background.
step 4: Stamp with Versamark the man and woman symbol and embos with black glossy embossing powder. Stamp with Versafine Black the writing arrow on the left as well as the right hand side of the symbol. Give the arrows a little color with the Crafter's ink and a brush. Put the card aside for a while.
step 5: cut out some gear (Tim Holtz) and sponge with Crafter's Limon andsponge some  Aruba on the edges. Heatset it. Then apply Smooch Glitz Lime Twist on the gears, let dry.
step 6: colour some little strips of paper and stamp the text adventure awaits on it with Stazon. Cut the words out and matt on black paper.
step 7: Glue the words and the gear on the card.

Stamps used:
brick background 19077
Washi grid background 19074
man and woman symbol 19080
writing arrow 19078 (all the above stamps can be found also on plate 917)
adventure awaits 19009 (also on plate 893)

A new journey journal page

Hi, A new year a new journey for 2013. Hope you all had a great turn of the year and wish that all your new dreams will come true.

Here is another art journal page, I love making them.

Step 1: make a background. I dragged gesso over the page with a creditcard, do this randomly and don't cover the whole page. Then take different colours ink and sponge onto the page. As you can see there are darker abnd lighter spots, the darker spots are the spaces where there is no gesso.
Step 2: choose a stamp for the focal point. I choose the men in balloon basket stamp nr. 19009.
Step 3: lay the stamp face down on your work to decide the place where you want it to be (tip: you can stamp the image onto transparant sheet and use this as a guide to decide where you want the image to be).
Step 4: Stamp the image of the men in balloon basket onto the page. And compliment this image with the Hot air Ballon with flags nr. 19006, do this three times. Stamp with Stazon Black.
Step 5: Take a tree stencil and sponge with a lighter colour green.
Step 6: do the same with a darker colour green but replace your stencil a little to the right or left.
Step 7: (top photo) sponge the trees a little with white ink and tiny parts with black ink. Give the little balloons some accent colour with a pink glitter gel pen. And finally stamp the text Time Flies 19008.

Stamps used: men in balloon basket 19009
Hot air balloon with flags 19006
Time Flies 19008
All these stamps can also be found on plate 893

Time Flies altered paint brush

Hi, Hermine here. And this is so true, time does fly because we are almost at the end of 2012, my last post for this year :o)

1. Take a cheap paint brush (for house painting) and dip it in to the gesso, make sure to cover the whole brush and between the bristles. Let dry for a couple of days. It will take a while to dry through and through.
2. Paint the whole brush,  except for the top handle because I liked the colour, with white acrylic paint. Dry with you heattool but keeping it a little to close to your work, so the paint with bubble and blister, it makes awesome texture.
3. Delute black acrylic paint with lots of water and brush it onto the white paint, this way it gets a distressed look and it highlights the bubbles, the metal part where the bristles are fastened into, the nails and stuff like that. (you can see the close-up of my second and third photo)
4. Put aside for a little while. Now you start on working on the stamped images. Take a piece of tissue paper and stamp the bird 19001 and the text Time Flies 19008 with Stazon Black. Cut the image out as near to the image as possible.
5. Take some gel medium and brush it onto the back of the stamped tissue paper and layer it down onto your brush. Do this very careful because the wet image is very delicate and will easily tear. I cut the two words apart so I could place each one of them on a spot I liked most. Give the beak and the feet of the bird some colour, I did this in red because it matches the top of the handle.
6. Make some shadow around the bird and the words with the deluted black acrylic paint.
7. Finish it of at the top with washi tape. And wrap the berries on metal wire around the handle.

Used materials from VLVS

Hope you all will have a great turn of the year and I want to wish you a very Happy New Year!!!
