Time Flies

Hello! Amy here today, and as the mother of three daughters that have grown all too quickly, I know that time certainly flies....but today, I'm sharing a different type of time flight interpretation....in the Dr.Who way.
I really love the whimsical flying police box stamp. It's such a funny take on the Tardis in Dr. Who, and I wanted to play it up. I stamped the image three times with Momento Ink, and colored each in a different way. I left one plain, and used Gelly Roll pens from Sakura of America in Stardust, Golden-Star, and Sky-Star, on another, and the Gelly Rolls over the top of a Faber-Castell big brush pen in royal blue.
After fussy cutting the images, I created a background, using three shipping tags. The background was started using watercolor in navy blue, and using lots of water, creating a gradient of dark to light color. After drying it with my heat gun, I used my beloved cracked background stamp, rolled to only use a small portion, using Clearsnap Mix'd Media Inx in Indigo and Jasmine. I like how it made the background reminiscent of a stormy, time traveling sky. When the tags were complete, I taped them together using miracle tape , leaving the backing attached, and then stapling with my tiny attacher. This made the three tags a cohesive unit.

I completed the project by adding chipboard embellishments, including wings on the stamped images (also outlined in Gelly Roll pens), feathers, thread, and finally alpha stickers. The tops of the tags are tied with twill ribbon with clocks printed on it, vintage gold cord, and seam binding.
I gave this fun little piece to my daughter, who has turned me into a fan of Dr.Who, and who is just as unique! I hope I inspired you to grab your stamps, and create something a little out of the box...or maybe out of the current time period? Now go get inky, and have a great day!
