Art journal page - All the answers

Hey everyone,

Today I'm sharing a fun and snarky page from my art journal. We all could need something to make us smile in moody January, right?

My background is a simple one. I started with two pieces of gelli printed tissue that I had on my desk from a previous project. For a little more detail I stamped and heat embossed some doodle dots and also added some contrasting pink splatters of acrylic spray paint.

The girl sitting in a suitcase seemed to be the perfect focal point. I stamped her, did some quick coloring with ZIG brush pens and cut her out. Also, I inked up the cutting edges to make her blend better into the page.

I don't like my focal points to just float around on my page. So I stamped the scallop onto another gelli print and cut that out, too. To avoid the details of the stamp to get lost, I stamped it directly on the page before I glued the girl and the scallop I cut out on top.

The last thing I added was a quote. I stamped it onto some white cardstock, cut it into pieces and inked the edges a little to help it standing out from the page.

Stamps used:

Believe...

 ...in YOURSELF

This is an important message for all!  Believe in yourself and you can accomplish ANYTHING!

Michele here today with a slimline card, one of my new go to sizes for cards this year!!

Stamps used:  Doodled Triangles, Round Brushstrokes Small,  Believe in Yourself, Elephant on Bike

I colored the Ellie with Copic markers and of course the background is a gelli print using Dina Wakley paints and stencils.

Did you notice the washi designed by DeeDee as the road the elephant is riding on??  The sentiment is stamped in archival ink and mounted on black card.

If an elephant can ride a bike YOU can do anything if you just BELIEVE!

Until next time...get inky!

Artsy tile - She was a dreamer

Hi everyone,

hope you all had a good and creative start into 2021. I'm happy to continue working in the VLVS design team for another year to share more stamped art with you. Let's start with the first project for this year.

I started creating "artsy tiles", which is just watercolor paper cut to a size of 4 x 4 inch and with rounded edges - a little detail that really makes a difference for me. I'm a fan of quick projects (not always, but sometimes you just want to get something creative done without investing much time, right?) and this format sparks my creativity.

When I started working on the tile, I already knew the focal image I wanted to use. So stamping the woman, coloring her and cutting her out was my first step. I used ZIG brush pens for the coloring just because it's one of the easiest methods for me.

As my background highlight I stamped and heat embossed the twilight zone swirl in white. Then I sprayed some Lindy's Gang starburst sprays on top and used the resistance effect I got from the embossing I did before. I went with some complimentary colors to the womans dress to create a harmonious contrast. During the last few weeks I started using my color wheel a lot for inspiration and although I never thought that this is a necessary tool I'm finding it really helpful now.

I added a quote as well as some stars to my tile. They blend nicely into the background. Do you like such subtle details as much as I do? Also, I inked the edges with the same ink pad that I used for the stars.
All that was left to do now was glueing the woman to the background and then I called this project done.

Stamps used:
Beautiful Lady Retro Looking Up (8280)
Twilight Zone Swirl (20506)
Stars (19291)
She Was A Dreamer (19635)

Other material:

- Canson watercolor paper
- Versaclaire ink (nocturne)
- Versamark ink
- Archival ink (paradise teal)
- Starburst sprays (tibetan poppy teal, shabby turbine teal)
- ZIG real brush pens
- WOW! embossing powder (white, ultrafine)

See you soon with another project.

Thank You!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Welcome 2021, boy are we glad to see you!

With the start of the new year I like to kick it off with a thank you card.  I still hand write thank you notes and mail them off, I just feel like it really shows appreciation when you get not only a hand written note but a handmade card too.

Stamps used:  Whimsical Candy, Cotton Candy, All Day Sucker, Present, Thank You

The background is blended Distress Oxide Ink with water splatters, white ink dots and white spray splatters.

The images are colored with Prisma Colored pencils and blended with Gamsol.

The card base is a PhotoPlay Paper A6 card base, I am LOVING this size!!

Gratitude and thoughtfulness...what a great way to start a new year!
Until next time...get inky!
