Poe's Party Hat by Cathy N

Hello, all Cathy here with a semi-Halloween card for you. I have been in the Halloween mood for the last week or so and I just had to make something for it.

                                                                    Stamped Used:

                                                                       19900 Poe

                                                                      17545 grunge writing background

                                                                      19991 Alis Volat Proprits

I started out with some orange distress ink and stamped grunge writing background randomly around the edges of my card base. I then took some brown ink and inked around the edges and splattered some water around to give it a grunge look.

I had made this background earlier with some white paste that I added some black ink to it, and it mad it gray. I tore the edges and edged it with some gray ink.

Next, I stamped Poe and cut him out. After that I stamped the wings from Alis Volat Proprits in the same orange ink I used for the background and cut them out. I found a top hat in my digital collage images and cut it out so Poe could where it. I added the wings to the hat and then the hat to Poe and I added foam tape so it would stick to the texture of the background.

Christmas gifttags by Cathy N

Good afternoon, Cathy here with some Christmas tags for you.

I had some leftover tags sitting on my table and I thought I would make some gift tags from them.

I started out with some distress inks and oxide to make the background. Dip and dry is how I did them.

Next, I took grunge writing background and some gray distress ink and stamped it randomly on the backgrounds of all the tags. I then edged all the tags with the same gray ink. Then I took  Large snowflake and Medium snowflake and stamped them on 5 of the tags wit black ink. For the last 2 tags I stamped the Christmas tree small on them.

I found some small Christmas saying I cut up and added to the bottom of each tag. They had a bit of red around the outside so I added some red ribbon to the top of each tag and the snowflakes got some red bling in the middle of them. I did add some glitter to the tress, but it is very hard to see.

                                                                 Stamps Used:
                                                          17545 1787 grunge writing background

                                                           18946 Large snowflake

                                                           18947 Medium snowflake

                                                           18941 Christmas tree small

Feather Card by Cathy

Hello, my name is Cathy Norton and I'm one of the new Design Team members. I'm so happy to be here. To start off my first post I have a card for you all.

I stared out with a tag and some purple Distress ink. I did the smooching technique with the ink and a glass mat.

After I got the tag where I liked the color, I then die cut 3 feathers from it.

I then stamped grunge 1787 writing background on the feathers. For the card background I did the say smooching technique but with gray Distress ink.  I stamped the waybill with black soot Distress ink on the background and inked the edges of the card panel.

Lastly, I glued 2 feathers down and I tied a bow on the 3rd one and added foam tape and placed it in the middle.

                                                                 Stamped Used:

Time Flies

Hi guys- Karen here with you again today..
I thought I'd try for something a little different today.. nope it's still a tag..

Just a little different with he colour.. well sort off.. I've gone for a brighter than my normal background, but still sort of me if that makes any sense.. So without to much more babbling...

I started off inking my background with several different red/ orange shades of distress ink, Then using the bullseye stamp from plate 949   I stamped using water as my medium onto the background then heated it with my heat gun.

I then added in a little machine stitching and another layer to my background by randomly stamping the Grunge writing 1787.

My next step was to stamp, colour and fussy cut some other images. then lastly layer them all onto my tag. I also added in some gears that I had die cut previously for another project but hadn't used.

And as always a couple of close ups..  I love the colour in the background, it's a little different for me..  But I think it turned out ok.

Stamps Used:

Set of Pointing Hands ( I used the hand pointing towards the right)

I hope you found a little inspiration  and want to say thanks for dropping by today,
hope to see you again soon..

Happy Stamping - Karen xxx

Challenge - Accepted!

Hi Everyone - Karen here with you again today. Have you seen the awesome new inspiration challenge that we have here at VLVS this month??

I love the colours.. So I decided that I would use this as my inspiration ,

This is what I came up with..

I used a base of the VLVS Grunge writing 1787 , then layered down  lots of different elements, including book pages and lace added in some Tim Holtz embellishments and some hexagon chipboard from UmWow Studio .  I've coloured the chipboard with brown ink, even though I love the natural colour of the UWS chipboard, I wanted it a little darker this time, and  lastly some stitching and flowers.

and a couple of close ups..

I love the detail in this crown.
I stamped  both the crown and the bee on manila coloured cardstock, the inked the edges with walnut stain distress ink.

I've  used Miracle tape to stick my vintage lace down..  Is there anything this tape wont stick??

I used three different VLVS images for this one..

 Crown 2 x 1 1/2

 For the background  I used
Grunge 1787 Writing Background 3 x 3 1/2

And I fussy cut the bee from

Italian Sonnet Background 4 1/2 x 3 3/4

Thank you for stoping by,
I hope you have a fantastic day, and get a little stamping in

Happy Stamping..
Karen.
