"Nourish Your Soul" Art Journal by Fiona

Hello VLVS! peeps. Fiona here with you today to share an art journal page that I have created using the amazeballs Viva Las Vegastamps!

I decided to go a little bit black, white and red for this one! This Lotus Petal Silhouette stamp is so simple and beautiful. I wanted to feature it for it's simplicity.

And to balance the page I added some quintessential Viva Las Vegastamps! designs ..... like this Lingerie Model stamp. It's so unique ... you wouldn't find anything like this any where else but at VLVS!

The pop of red on the page makes both of these stamps a feature which is exactly what they need to have.

I also love to stamp on book pages when it comes to "see through" or silhouette style stamps like these two.

I also tried some stamping on some calico to give the page a bit of texture. Even though the red is nice it is also good to have some depth through texture.

So of course some hand stitching needed to be added. This tied the fabric elements together.

To top it off ... one of my most favourite sayings "If It Doesn't Nourish Your Soul Get Rid Of It" ... such good advice.

Thank you for hanging around throughout the year guys. It's been a blast. I'll see you all again in 2019!

Nothing means business like...

Hello Crafty friends!!

Happy Early New Year!

Today I have a super fun card and envelope set... I'm on a bit of a sarcastic/snarky kick using the Tim Holtz snarky stickers.

Stamps used:

I started by stamping the kids with the cart on the A2 card and envelope.  Setting the card aside, I traced the playing card to create an address block.  I also added a "mask" of the kids with the cart.

At the top of the envelope I stamped the scallops banner (aka doodle frame) and makes it off.

With everything masked off, I used weathered wood distress ink to create my base background layer.

Next I randomly stamped my background details: dictionary page, color wheel, x, row of numbers

To finish everything I removed my masks, and used blick alcohol markers to color everything.

I also used white gel pen to add final details.

Thanks for visiting.

Encouraging Art Journal Page ► Majo

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, my crafty friends ♥

It's Majo here today with my last post for 2018 and I am sharing a couple of lovely stamps!

I created yet another Art Journal page with Distress Oxides and the wonderful encouraging sentiment.

I used the same technique I had introduced on one of my recent posts, i.e. here!

I stamped the
rose bush with the colours (Broken China and Worn Lipstick) I used on the background, just to give it a more interesting look.

After adding the "frame" with the stitching line from Plate 1459 I stamped the sentiment and added more prints of the rose bush with black Archival ink.

I used the following stamps:

20146 - Rose bush
19642 - Stitching line
20224 - Sentiment

All the best for the upcoming year 2019 for you

Alice in Wonderland on Scrapbooking Layout | by Elina

Hi!
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. My Christmas days were all about relaxing, spending time with my family, eating a lot of chocolate, and some crafting, too! :)

On Boxing Day I took out a pile of photos I had planned to use on scrapbooking layouts, chose some of my favorite patterned papers, and started playing. I had to start with a cute photo I had taken in Singapore summer '17; I knew my VLVS! 'Alice in Wonderland' stamps were going to match to it perfectly:

I started with stamping, coloring, and fuzzy cutting the stamped images:

The background I decided to keep quite simple; layers of patterned papers, splashes of white paint and black ink, and stamped patterns were all I needed.

The rabbit had too many fine details to cut out, so I re-stamped the image on the background, and glued the fuzzy-cut image on top:

Then it was all about placing the lovely images on the page! It was such a fun project to create.

My kids had a lot of fun when looking for the small Alice in Wonderland statues in the beautiful Flower Dome garden. I'm happy that this precious memory is now recorded

For this project I used the following VLVS! stamps:
Queen Of Hearts 3 x 3
March Hare 2 3/4 x 3 1/4
TweedleDum And TweedleDee 2 3/4 x 3
I'm Late I'm Late 1 1/4 x 2
Mad Hatter 1 3/4 x 2 3/4
Pocket Watch 2 x 2 1/4
Cross Marks Background 2 1/2 x 3 3/4
Staple X 3/4 x 3/4
Three Staples 3/4 x 3/4

This was my last project for this year and for VLVS! design team. What a year it has been! I want to thank you all for your lovely comments and your heartfelt support.
In 2019, my VLVS! inspired projects can be viewed in my blog Elina's Arts And Crafts. Hoping to see you there!

That Look of Otherness.. An Art Journal Page by Jenn Engle

Hi Friends! I have an art journal page to share with you today using some of the fab Ethos stamps by Tina Walker as the stars of the page. I just love the hand carved feel of the Ethos Stamps.

STAMPS USED:

There is a lot going on in the page, lots of layers and steps. So, be sure to check out the video at the bottom of this post to see exactly how I made it!

HOW I MADE IT:
I started out with the Dina Wakley Acrylics in a watery wash all over the background. Then I did some stenciling on top of that, hoping it would bring everything together.

Then, I stamped my fave (don't I say that about every stamp?!) the Scribble Circle, trying to make a visual triangle on my page. I added some scribble sticks and stabilo to make the circles stand out more.

Next, I looked thru my stash of painted Library Pockets to see if one would match. I added some ripped masking tape on the front of the pocket for a place for my Ethos House to sit. I also grung-ied the tape up with my stabilo marks-all.

I added some scribbles with a mechanical pencil, and stamped That Look of Otherness all over. I mean ALL over, haha.

To finish it off, I just dropped some Acrylic Ink in Titanium White around on my page and that's it! I know it looks like a lot going on but it really didn't take long to make.

I admit, it's not my usual style but I am loving it. Sometimes it's fun to step outside of your arty comfort zone and try something new, right?!

Merry & Bright | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!
Sue Plumb here with my latest VLVS design team project for you. Given that Christmas is a mere week away (eeeek!) and we have an "Ugly Christmas Sweater" challenge this month (details HERE), I thought it might be timely to share a scrapbook layout featuring some of the recently released Christmas stamps and a photo of my kids with Santa.

As it is summer time here in Australia at Christmas (and partly because I am not a fan), I tend to steer away from the "traditional" red / forest green Christmas colour combination and lean towards brighter colours that more accurately reflect our season.

I began this page with some white Bazzill cardstock and Dina Wakley acrylic paints (turquoise, lime, sky, blushing and ruby), which I applied using a brayer and my fingers to build up some layers of colour. I also splattered some Colour Blast 'Soot' Colour Artist Ink around the page.

I then took an assortment of Christmas-themed stamps and used them to add some interest to my background. I used a combination of black StazOn ink and Paradise Teal Ranger Archival ink. The stamps I used were:

I then added a variety of patterned paper pieces from Cocoa Vanilla Studio to form a layered mat for my photo, before adding some frayed gauze and my photo on top.

To embellish my page, I used some cool chipboard Christmas trees from the Yuletide MASH pack by UmWow Studio, which I coloured using a gold paint pen before sticking them down with a liquid adhesive.

I layered the chipboard trees with some assorted Christmas themed wood veneer pieces; flair button; resin star; enamel dots; and red & white paper flowers from Cocoa Vanilla Studio; plus a few tiny pale blue flowers from D-lish Scraps.

For my page title, I stamped the May Your Days Be Merry stamp a couple of times, then overlaid it with a merry&bright wood veneer piece (also from Cocoa Vanilla Studio and coloured gold with a paint pen).

To finish off my page I added my handwritten journalling with a Sharpie, and some splatters of Colour Blast 'Bling' Colour Shimmer Spray.

Thanks so much for stopping by today so I could share this with you. I hope I have inspired you to document your precious Christmas memories too or perhaps get an entry in for the December monthly challenge.
I would like to take this opportunity wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year!
