Create your own card backgrounds with Josefine

Is it just me or do people send more cards nowadays? Especially during the last months. It probably helps with feeling closer. So, why not show some ideas on how to make a few quick cards, maybe even with a little humor?

I used the Grunge numbers to create two simple backgrounds that are full of texture.

For the first background, I used my stamp platform to stamp all the numbers at the same time. So, I mounted my paper into the platform, arranged the stamps randomly, and stamped using Distress Oxide. I had to rearrange the numbers and stamp again since they didn't quite fill the entire card base. 

Then I used Distress Ink in a slightly lighter color and blended it all over the background. I made sure to leave it splotchy and uneven. I didn't want to go for a perfect and even look.

Next up, I used the Mesh Texture, Bubble Wrap Texture, and actual bubble wrap to add more interest to the background. I used both ink colors to stamp those. I also splattered some water and Distress Oxide ink on top.

To finish it up, I added a frame around the border.

For the second background, I skipped the stamp platform. I wanted the numbers to be closer together, so it was easier to that by hand. Here, I used Distress Oxide again.

Now I blended two Distress Ink colors on top, used the same stamps and bubble wrap to add some texture, and finished it up with a few splatters of water and other inks.

Here are the two backgrounds next to each other.

Now I simply added a few sentiment stickers, paper dolls, and wings to the card and mounted it onto a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 card base.

Today, I'm here with more vintage inspired goodness using a super cute stamp!

Above you can see all my base layers:

(1 A2 cardm a second layer of distressed black card 1/8 in smaller than base. Tim Holtz sticky back burlap (from his Textured surfaces pack) cut 1/8 in smaller than the black distressed layer.

A piece of corrugated cardboard I had laying around, ripped to add interest and cut to card width.

Stamped image colored and stitched onto black kraftstock 1/8 in larger than the 2.5 x 3.5 in image. 

I used various distress inks to watercolor this image. 

Antique linen, vintage photo, and frayed burlap were used for the general distressing.

Here is a close up of the finished piece with some Tim Holtz hardware heads, metal stars, and a  snipit sticker.

Hippo Racing

Hello Again Crafty Friends!

Tera here again, and today I'm going back to my vintage and grungy roots!

(Also Hippo Racing, Why not!?!)

Start with an A2 card base.

 Cut black kraft stock to- 5 3/8in x 4 1/8 inches, a piece in 2in x 4 1/8 in, and  3 7/8in x 2 5/8in. 

The scrapbook paper layers measure- 5 1/8in x 3 7/8in, and 4 1/8 x 1 3/4in

The stamped image layer is 2.5 in x 3.5 in. 

I distressed Everything with frayed burlap and antique linen distress ink. 

When my stamped image was colored (using Zig clean color markers), I stitched around the edges. (I meant to stitch the top and bottom of the skinny piece but glued it down too soon, so I hand drew faux stitching on it. )

Finally when everything was glued down, I stamped my quote using my stamping tool.

 To finish everything off, I used various rub-ons from Tim Holtz and 7 gypsies for added details.

For today's post, I've created a Pair of Simple Cards.  

I've used some gorgeous VLVS! Rubber Stamps here.

I was inspired by Banksy Style Graffiti Art. 

VLVS! Banksy stamps are amazing. I love them! 

 The process is quite simple. I stamped the VLVS! stamps onto watercolour paper.

Then did watercolouring using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and created white ink splatters. 

In the end, die cut the panels, matted them in black and adhered them to kraft coloured A2 sized card bases.

Easy Any Occasion Cards

Hello everyone!

Today I want to share 2 easy cards that are fun for any occasion. You can easily customize these to your exact occasion needs by just switching colors or a stamp or two.

I started with a plain white card base in A2 size. I used to distress ink to stamp the colored images, and any black details were stamped with black archival ink.

You could add pop-dots to add depth to your card, or you could do this card with lots of masking to keep everything as flat single layer card. I chose to do mine as a few flat layers. :)

(the star, the moth, and the yellow lined color wheel were my 3 layered pieces)

Courageous Mother Nature - Mixed Media card by Cheetarah

Hey everyone, I'm back this week to show you a Mixed Media card I made inspired by this month's Challenge Inspiration Board.

Beautiful isn't it? I got inspired by the nature elements and the green and purple colors.

To start off I went on building layers to get the background texture you see in the card.

The base of this card is a 6x6 scrapbook paper on which I applied light a coating of gesso and then glued on all the paper scraps I keep on collecting at the edge of my desk into a square / diamond shape. I glued it all with modge podge so it's also sealed well. When I was satisfied with the basic shapes I went on to add more texture with a stencil and modeling paste.

I chose dots for a nice contrast with the square shapes and applied messily and let dry and adding more in various places over the card. It's going to be covered up with paint so it doesn't matter if some paste seeps though or is uneven, because it's about the texture! You can see the process of the base HERE. When I was done with the modeling paste I sealed it with Modge Podge shimmer varnish to smooth it out and have a secure base to get the paint to run.

Then comes the fun part, dabbing distress paint on your textured background and get it all colored up! I started off with lighter colors first, chose the left edge, dabbed ink and sprayed water on to get it to run to the right. Dried each layer with a heating tool to set the colors and to get them to stay crisp. I went on until I was satisfied with the color blend and saturation. 

I chose the whimsical tree lady to be my focal point and I stamped and colored her on tissue paper. Adhered it with soft matte gel medium. Did the same with the "she was courageous" sentiment. Before I adhered these to the card I stamped some more nature themes stamps on the card with Staz-on inks in corresponding colors. 

Mother nature was written with Zig wink of Luna in purple and green. And then with a faber castell pitt artist marker. Also doodled around the edges with these colors. I like how it pops from the card. 

Oh by the way, the sun I made on the top left is done with stamping Doodle Circle stamp inked with mustard seed and carved pumpkin distress paints. I just used a brayer to adhere the ink and stamped until the color was opaque enough. I adhered the piece to a turquoise color double card, rounded the edges and called it done.
