A Fresh Face for the New Year...

Welcome to Viva Las VegaStamps! Susan here today and I'm so excited to rejoin my inky-stampy friends here at VLVS! It's been ages since my rubber stamps have seen the light of day so I decided to make a fun ATC using the Collage Face #18378 which reminds me of my fabulous winter hat.

I started out with some scraps of cardstock, an embossed painted paper and a mini tag and I stamped my images onto them using black archival ink. I doodled in some longer curly locks using a black PITT pen. I gave a quick color washing with Faber-Castell PITT brush pens applied with a water brush. I like the color, but my face needed a little more POP.

I broke out my Faber-Castell Gelatos and added some more color.

I played and smudged on the Gelatos onto my face and painted book page ATC base. I blended out the details with my waterbrush.

I assembled the layers using Miracle Tape then spritzed with a dash of Tsukineko New Sprout Fireworks for some shimmery splatters. I finished off with stamping the word "dream" and spelled out "play" using the alphabet from the December Daily Plate #1430 by brushing my black PITT pen onto stamps – resulting in a lighter more subtle impression on top of the Gelato smudged background.

Dream House Arch

It has been far too long since I've played with either of my favorite shapes - gothic arch and house - so this stamp just called to me when it arrived! :)  Luckily it arrived around the same time my arch die arrived for my Vagabond - so voila!  House art!

Items used:  Whimsical House, Triangle Banner, Chevron Banner, Scowling Moon, and Alphabet used from Plate 1430

The background was colored using Tim Holtz Distress Stains, 3 shades of blue/green.  I took white acrylic paint and with a paper towel, dabbed in the clouds under the moon.  A bit of silver Distress Stain was added to the clouds.  From there, I stamped the banners in the background.  The house was actually stamped and trimmed from paper scraps.  Glitter was added to the house and to the trim of the arch.  Washi tape and sequins placed at the bottom.  "Dream House" was the final touch.

Greeting cards planner

Hi, Hermine here again. I decided to alter a greeting cards planner.

Step 1. Bought a ready made greeting cards planner (but you can make one yourself using a binding machine). Carefully removed front and back cover by opening the rings a bit. Painted them with black gesso. Then took a doily stencil and white acryllic paint. After drying I glued some tissue paper around the doily and on the back cover with gel medium. When dry put some white gesso over it , dried it with a heattool. When completely dry I sponged 3 colours M'xed media Inx on it and used a heattool to get it completely dry. With white acryllic paints I used a stencil (obn the left side).
step 2. Then put some M'xed Media Inx Jasmin on the chevron banner 19042 and stamped it in the middle at the top of the cover, did the same on the right and left hand side. Always heatset this ink. Then I made some hightlights at the bottom of the banners with a black fine liner and made some shades with black water crayon.
Step 3: stamp the alphabet of plate December Daily 1430 twice on a piece of white cardstock. Punch out the letters for the word "verjaardagen"(that means bithdays in english) and glue in the middle of each banner.
step 4: Stamp with Stazon Black the spotty background 1461 on the flap at the righthand side.
step 5: Stamp the boy with hands behing back 9802 with Stazon Black on white cardstock, and colour in with distress ink vintage photo and a waterbrush, then glue on the flap. Used some rhinestones on the righthandf side of the boy to get a little sparkle.
step 6: take some washi tape and tape all the edges around the front as well as on the back cover.

This planner was on my wish/to-do list for a long time and when I saw this planner on sale I couldn't resist any longer, I simply had to make it and it looks great in my room and makes that I don;t forget any birthdays anymore :o)

I use journals to try techniques and test my stamps.  On this page of my journal I was playing with texture and numbers to see when stamped what they looked like. I must say I am pleased with my number stamps! In addition to the numbers there is a set of lower case alphas.

Starting with a white page in my Clairfontaine journal I sprayed it with Sandlewood LuminArte Shimmering Mist. With two sizes of Punchinello from Gauche Alchemy stencil the background.  Inks from right to left: ColorBox Fluid Chalk Burnt Sienna, CTMH Red Barn, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Barn Door and ColorBox Fluid Chalk Alabaster.

On top of the stenciled backgroung randomly stamp the numbers to see how the look.  The journal paper had a little texture and a couple look better on smooth paper so I stamped them on ledger paper and adhered them to the journal page.

HAVE FUN WITH NUMBRS!!!!

The numbers are sold as PLATE 1430 only.
