Altered Paper Houses by Susanne

Hi my dear crafty friends.

I'm sharing two altered paper houses today. I cut the pieces with my Silhouette Cameo from Kraft cardstock.

Here are the step by step instructions:

Add some pieces of old book paper before you cover every piece with gesso. Use acrylic paint together with a baby wipe to add some color. I used DecoArt Fluid Acrylics.

Add some details with different stamps and waterproof ink. I used Archival Ink Jet Black.

Use Crackle Paste with a stencil to add some texture.

After the paste is dry, cover the texture with DecoArt Antiquing Cream Carbon Black. Let it dry and wipe it away with wet baby wipes. Wipe away the color just in one direction to get a deep shadow on one side of the stenciled image.

I added the Pair of Butterfly Wings, stamped on tissue paper, onto the roofs. And some dimensional Flowers and sentiments to the front of the houses.

The flowers are from the Sizzix Susan's Garden Collection and colored with PanPastels. I glued the pieces together with Miracle Tape.

Thank you for stopping by today!
xx Susanne.

Where is my mind

Hello everyone,

For today's post I have made a postcard:

I recently got my hands on the new Oxide Inks by Tim Holtz and I used them on this card. I used watercolour card as that seems to work really well. I have used green, blue and yellow and they all layer over each other beautifully !
I smooshed the ink on my craft sheet, sprayed it with water and dunked my card into it. I did all three coloured separately but you can also use them all at the same time.
Next I did some background stamping; using the same inks and also some black Archival ink.
I stamped the man and the sentiment on book paper, cut them out and adhered them onto the card and to finish it off I drew some lines along the edges.

I have used the following stamps:

Mail Art Monday with Jenn Engle

It's MAIL ART MONDAY TIME!

For Mail Art Monday, I made a card/envelope duo.

To see exactly how I made the envelope, check out the video at the end of this post!

STAMPS USED (on card):

STAMPS USED (on envelope):

For the card, I used circle drywall tape for texture on my background and then several colors of Dina Wakley Media Acrylic. I added a little bit of a light blue ink for splatters then tried to accent some of the texture with Tim Holtz Distress Crayons in similar colors as the paint. I added the adorable Fairy Girl three times, painting the one that I wanted to stand out. I added stitching to finish the whole card off.

For the envelope, I followed mostly the same steps as the card. I started out stamping Widlflowers Silhouette in the background on this one before I added my drywall tape and paint colors. To finish the envelope off, I added Open up your Heart Bird to the lower right corner so I could leave room in the middle to write an address.

Thanks so much for looking!
~Jenn

Art Journal: Be True. Be You. - by Cheetarah

Hi all, it's Cheetarah here and I'm glad to be back with you today to show you an art journal page I made with some lush VLVS! rubber stamps and spring time inspired colors. My main image is this gorgeous Whimsical Lady designed by Mary Vogel Lozinak and the Be Adorable text stamp. A full list of stamps is at the bottom of the post.

I first started off with coloring a piece of 6x4 inch water color paper with Ecoline in orange and Magenta. Then took a squared stencil and dabbed some mixed Golden Phthalo green with Paper Artsy Hint of Mint paints through it with a make -up sponge. Then stamped squiggly star collage on the left with Staz-On cherry pink and colored that in with ZIG Wink of Stella golden yellow so it stands out with a sparkle! I also randomly stamped the star stamp on various places as well as some other mixed media stamps.

The sentiment was stamped with Memento tuxedo black on a separate piece of paper which was covered in Dylusions sprays in magenta green and turquoise. I then cut the sentiment out in strips and chose the above layout for them. The lady was also stamped on watercolor paper and colored with tombows and blended with a water brush. I wanted the phrases to have a "tumbling down" effect and that she walked over the last phrase.

I also stamped "Be True." sentiment on the watercolor paper and adhered that to the left side over the star. On the "Be adorable" stamp you have the phrase "be young" and I just cut off the "ng" to have it say "Be You" and I love text stamps because they are versatile this way :) Lastly spattered some Liquitex INKS! in bronze and white over the page as well as the phthalo green/mint mixture. I darkened the edges with a purple distress crayon. Matted it on yellow card stock and is ready to be adhered to my art journal.

No matter what anyone says you are supposed to be, be true to yourself.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Seek Paradise

Hello hello hello! How are you all today. Shanna here excited to be back on the blog today! Today I am sharing my first encaustic art piece with you all.

Let's be honest my images didn't blend well and probably would have been better if I added them before I started the wax layers but I am still excited and happy with it. I really loved the piece before I started adding wax so more of these will be coming.

My inspiration came from the Our Mixed Media Moods challenge DeeDee and Jenn have for this month.

If your interested in seeing how I created this please check out the video.

Here is are some close ups.  Hope you enjoy.

Easy any occasion card

Hello Again, Tera here!
Today I want to share a super easy any occasion card.

Stamps Used:

XO 1 x 1 1/2

To start I picked 3 colors of distress ink and smashed them on my craft mat.
Next spritz them with water so you will get a more watercolor like effect.

I then "dragged" the card through the inks. (then used my heat tool to dry)
On a separate piece of card stock I stamped the paintbrush and used black heat embossing to really get a rich black. I cut this out then glues it down on the card.

To finish everything off I stamped the XO.

See super easy!!!
I hope you feel inspired!

...incrediblerer

Michele here with some April Challenge Inspiration.

No automatic alt text available.

This months challenge shouts SPRING to me and I was inspired by the colors. the banners and the field of flowers.
I created a birthday card for my stash of cards.

Stamps used:  Whimsical Triangle Banner, Fairy Girl by Cat Kerr, Present by Tera Callihan, Whimsical Candy, A Whole Year.

I used presents instead of the flowers and the layers of gifts around the fairy girls feet are so fun!!

I just love all the whimsy in this combination of stamps.

I hope you are inspired and will join us this month for a chance to win some amazing pink rubber! Find our challenge post on the blog.

Until next time...get inky!!
