Mail Art Monday with Michele

It's Monday again, funny how that happens...and for my mail art I got back to nature!!

I cut a 6x6 envelope out of heavy cardstock and went for a practice run with my background colors.

It felt earthy to me so I cut another envelope, taped off spots for the address and return address with washi tape, sprayed my background with Distress Spray and got stamping.

I used Moon Circle, Wildflowers Silhouette, Skinny Fir Tree for all my stamping.

The Um Wow Studio Light Bulb Stencil works perfectly with the moon circle and I used Distress paint to creat those rays.

Some very simple doodling around the address boxes and viola!!

Now of course I had to create a card to go in that envelope...  

This is the Leafy Sunflower and Single Sunflower/Small to create this little bouquet.  Then colored with watercolor pencils.  The Delight in the Little Things sentiment is perfect for so many occasions and is one of my new go to's.

I fell in love with the contrast of the bold colors and the muted colors!!  So much fun to create!!

and welcome to post for today where I am sharing a mini book that I created after doing a gelli printing workshop and making a similar book but a lot bigger. First off I printed some cards....

These are the four cards I used. They are approx. 15 x 10 cm. 

One of the prints was cut in half to make the front and back of the book... 

This is the first of three mini art journal spreads. 

This is the second...

And this one is the last. 

All images were coloured with Copic Markers. The backgrounds were stamped with Archival inks in colours similar to the paint colours used and some black as well.

"Just Love Your Style" A layout by Fiona

Hellooooo VLVS peeps! Fiona Paltridge here with you today to share a layout I have created using some of the Graffiti themed stamps from Viva Las Vegastamps!

I'll let you in on a little secret ............ I once was a rat bag of a kid!

Yes I was one of those obnoxious teenagers in the 80's that thought that painting on a public wall was ok because it was "ART" and well because the wall was boring any way!

And then I grew up *shrug* 

Now I just deface pretty paper and stuff .... LOL

Either way that's where I learnt to write "street style" and what better way to put it to use than to add it to a grungy page!

 I can't say i ever thought it would come in handy knowing this skill ..... but you never know when you'll need to get your Graffiti on!!!

I'm a bit rusty but once I got started it all came flooding back. The VLVS stamps (The Banksy style one's in particular) just lend themselves to a street art kind of design.

I seriously had SOOOOOOOO much fun creating this. I'm pretty sure you'll see some more of my "street art" surface over the next few months!

Be Prepared Mail Art

Hi, Nikki here with a make for Mail Art Monday :)

Mostly the cards I make are 5.5" x 4.25", so I have used an envelope for that size card. I think in this case the envelope may well outshine the content :

The focal image is Whimsical Gas Mask Guy. I stamped him onto tissue paper and embossed the image. I then painted the back of the tissue paper, to emphasise his jacket and match the color scheme.

The envelope has a Gelli® print background, acrylic paint and stencils. I wanted to get a really vibrant and contrasting color scheme. I used the Writing Chevron stamp to bring my border color into the body of the envelope. There is space for the address in the centre and the stamp top right.

The letters I cut from magazines and glued into place. 

To me this guy, donning his gas mask looks like he is ready for all eventualities !

She Was A WildFlower Mini Box

Hi!  and Happy Thursday!

Tina here today with my last Viva Las VegaStamps Design Team project.  (insert sad face)

I always love being part of the VLVS team and am always sad when it's time to say Good-Bye!  

For my last project, I thought I'd share one of my favorite types of projects to create, little mini boxes.  Today's mini box doesn't have the typical mini embellishments decorating the inside, instead, I've decided to keep it simple, keeping the focus on the stamp embossed heart.

  I love to stamp emboss with my rubber stamps, but keep the visual impact on my chipboard heart, I prepped my surface with black gesso, then embossed the crackle image with white embossing powder.  Talk about a POW!

To add a bit of iridescence, I sprayed the stamped image with some of my favorite Lindy's Stamp Gang spray mist.  Love how that looks against the black and white.

The inside of the box is simple, just a piece of vintage quilt. 

To add a little more PUNCH to the heart, I added several red-dyed porcupine quills.   

(maybe there is a subliminal message here. Actually in typing this post, there is alot of hidden messages with this project.  They just came to me ;) )

"Magical" An Art Journal Page by Jenn Engle

Hey Folks! I have an art journal page to share with you today. I wanted to create a whimsical area for this adorable "Girl with Wings" stamp and the different sized Mushroom stamps are perfect for this!

Mail art monday with Hermine

Hi Hermine here, I altered this box for my turn on mail art monday. The size is to fit two DVD boxes in it. I bought an blanc one, so awesome to turn it in to a colourful and btight one and its already on its way to Vegas.

step 1: lay the box flat on your work service and brayer on some acryllic paints, I used red, blue, yellow and green. Leave to dry. Then take a stencil and brayer qwith white acryllix paint. Leave to dry again.

step 2: mask off the area you want to put the adress in, but mask of the outside lines, paint in with white acryllic paint. Start enhancing the box with stamps. First I used the Writing Chevron 19824 and stamped with Colorbox Chalk Black bird

step 3 : Mask off the space for the adress,  then I stamped the Doodle Flower/garden 19828 on both sides of the bottom. And the Squiggly Star collage 19822 ont the address side of the box.

step 4: Then enhance some of the circles with Doodle Circle 19823. And last but not least stamp the Banksy Winged Mohaek guy 19602 on the left hand side of the address space.

step 5: fold the box, close the lid, write on the adress and sent away!!!!
