Good morning, my dear friends.

Today I’d like to show you a tag I made with lots of water. 

I used Distress inks in four different colors: Victorian Velvet, Bundled Sage, Shaded Lilac and Hickory Smoke.

I started by cutting a tag from watercolor paper and applied distress ink to my craft sheet. I drew stripes with a rather large brush. I stamped the dots in the same color, spritzing the stamp with water after inking.  I used a brush to spritz some ink on may tag. 

I told you, lots of water needed for my creation this time.

I stamped the circles with Hickory Smoke.

After stamping the sentiment on a separate piece of watercolor paper, I added glue dots to adhere it to my tag.

Messy Artist Trading Cards with Josefine

Hello everyone! I'm so excited to be up on the Viva Las VegaStamps! blog again. This time with a variety of ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) highlighting some of Brian Kesinger's images. 

And - surprise - I had enough time to make a video, showing you how these cards came together. I don't know about you, but I feel that I have less time than normal at the moment, so every time I get the chance to craft, my heart is so happy.

But without further ado, here is my video:

What I want

just Late.. but I'm here now to share with you a little piece I recently finished...

"What I want"

 She's pretty funky...

she started out as an image transfer and I went from there.

I have used several stamps in different ways.

I stamped Row of Scribble Squares, Measuring Tape, and Waybill/Invoice stamps traditionally with Stazon Jet Black ink.

the Carved X's and Doodle Circle i stamped with white paint...

and the Scribble Circle i stamped and Embossed with White embossing powder.

Added some scraping of white and black paint, a dash of crackle, some stitching, finished with a little snarky comment, and called it a done. 

I love how grungy and full of attitude this piece is.

Just a rat in a cage

Hello stampers,

hope everyone is safe and sound.

I made a set of Artist Tradings Cards for giving you some inspiration while so many of us have to stay at home. These are a bit special, or did you ever think of combining Banksy with romantic Victorian elements? 

There are tons of pattern paper in my stash and I just randomly grabbed a pad. I tore four pieces to a size a little smaller than an ATC. To make it appear a little grungier, I used two rose shades of Oxide Inks, smooshed them onto my craft mat, sprayed it with water and swiped my paper pieces through it. I like the look this technique creates, especially on the dark paper.

After giving it a good dry with my heat tool, I started stamping. I chose a few different stamps that were some kind of florid or vintage inspired and stamped them with Versamark Ink. With the aim to stay in the rose color sceme I used a Golden Peach colored embossing powder to add some texture. It is quite striking on the darker cards and very subtle on the lighter ones - I like both variants. For a more distressed look, I added some Oxide Ink in Brushed Corduroy to the edges.

Time to work on my focal image, and while writing this post I'm still quite happy how this turned out in the end. I stamped the Victorian display case on some watercolor paper and placed the Banksy rat stamp right on top so that it looks as if the rat was in the display. 

Then I used watercolor to add some color and cut out the display cases. As a finishing touch I used a glossy medium to add some shine to the glass. I first thought of using Glossy Accents for that, but I was too impatient that day to wait for it to dry, so I chose the other one which I could apply in a thinner layer. I tried to catch that pretty shine in the photo.

I always like to work in layers and I like texture, so I used my sewing machine to attach the torn and altered paper pieces onto black cardstock that I cut to 2.5 x 3.5 inch before. After that, I glued down the Display Case with some foam tape.

Now I just needed a quote and "I'm still just a rat in a cage" seemed like the perfect match to me. I stamped it onto watercolor paper, cut it into little pieces and added some of that Brushed Corduroy Oxide Ink to the edges so it blends in nicely. 

I finished my set by gluing down that quote down with liquid glue and some foam tape. Here are some more (detail) photos of the project.

That's a horrible idea

and welcome to my post where for today I have made a journal page.

The background was made with Distress Oxide Sprays and white paint. The clocks are white embossed and I added some stamping here and there. The ladies were stamped on white card stock, coloured with Copic Markers and cut out.

Mixed Media Tag by Elisa Ablett

Elisa here from the design team with my latest VLVStamps inspiration for you.

I ordered the Tina Walker Scribble Girl plate a little while ago and couldn't wait to try them out with a lovely colourful background.

I started with a gel plate print on my tag and added layer of inks, stenciling and stamping in tropical colours.

I then stamped Scribble Girl with Earrings stamp on deli paper, fussy cut the image out and added a smidge of colour to her earrings and cheeks using a fine paint brush. 

To finish off the tag I added black water soluble crayon to the edges of the deli paper image and added some water to smudge the edging creating shadows and depth.

Easy Easter Mail Art

Cross with Lilies

Ok, so this time I totally forgot to take some action shots. 

Start by stamping your group of bunnies, then mask them off.  Next, stamp your cross with lilies. 

You can see here I have done that then began to color my cross and flowers. 

(you can remove the mask to color, but i chose not to for some reason)

Now remove the bunny mask so that you can color them too! 

(I chose browns , because i think of "chocolate bunnies")

So, after everything was colored I re-masked my bunnies then added a layer of yellow ink over the background.  When I was satisfied with that, I used layering stencils with pink and yellow to add more details. 

Two Things

Hello everyone!!
Here we are in April of 2020 and we are experiencing some crazy stuff in the world.  One thing we can always count on is being inspired by the VLVS! Design Team!!
Michele here today with another spread from my Scribble Girl journal.

I stamped on tissue and adhered with gel medium, colored with Posca Paint pens and stamped stitching around the tissue so the square looked sewn in.

Of course I also used Dina Wakley paint, gloss spray, and stencils.
