Recipe for Sweets

The holidays are right around the corner, can you believe it??!
Michele here today and I was inspired by all of the holiday sweets that we all love for this set of ATC's.

Stamps used:  Stack of Macaroons, Calories Don't Count, HEHEHE, Have a Nice Day, Delight in the Little Things, Doodle Border, Recipe Card, Victorian Flourish

The ATC bases are a piece of cardstock with Dina Wakley paints on the gelli plate.  The background stamps are the colors of the paint to fade.

The Macaroons are colored with Prisma colored pencils and the filling is stickles.

The macaroon stack was cut up and arranged on the ATC's.

Some washi so the macaroons didn't look like they are floating and a little border stamping.

The edges all have Distress Ink and finally some splatters with Distress Oxide Spray.

What's your favorite holiday treat??  We have Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas all coming up quick...what will you be making??

Until next time, get inky!!

Make A Wish

How is everybody doing???  Michele here today sharing a CAS (some of you might not believe I could do it) card I made for my cousins birthday.

I stamped the unicorn (Item 19044 Plate 918) on watercolor paper and did some very light painting with my waterpen and Distress markers.  Instead of making the horn sparkly I decided to make the mane, tail and other hair sparkle with stickles.

Make a wish (Item 19040 Plate 918) is my all time favorite birthday sentiment!!  I use it ALL the time!!

A few sequins and viola!!  All paper is from my scrap bin :).

The detail on this stamp amazes me!

Thanks for stopping by!!!  See you next month.

Pure Imagination.

Hello, Mary here.  Today, I've got a CAS card for you.

If you're new to coloring (or a seasoned coloring artist!), I gotta tell ya, VLVS has some amazing images that'll make it super easy to whip up a quick card or project.  Most images are detailed with a ton of shading already included, so coloring them up is simple to do!

I've used Copic markers for my card...

I adore this Unicorn image.

For my embellishments, I've just inked up the 'pure' in the Pure Imagination sentiment, and stamped repeatedly.  A bit of Lindy's Stamp Gang mist splatter and a few chippies from UmWowStudio and image was ready to layer onto a card base.

I've also inked up the Pure Imagination stamp to add a quick sentiment on the inside.

Ok, guys---that's it for me.  Now, go grab your favorite VLVS and get your color on!!

Make A Wish.

Hello!!  It's Mary here, with the very first ATC in our ATC BASH!

For my ATC, I've done a bit of double stamping.  First, I've inked up the Blowing Dandelion stamp up with a variety of Distress Ink colors and stamped down.  A small amount of water sprayed over the image allowed the inks to bleed.  Then, I re-stamped directly on top with Staze-On.  The resulting image is solid black with a touch of watercolor.

To finish it off, I've stitched the word 'WISH.' from the Make A Wish sentiment stamp.  A bit of white splatter and some glitter peeking through finishes the ATC.

I'm pretty new to ATC's, but I have to admit these small works of art are really fun!!  They're tiny, but they can pack some serious punch.  Stay tuned for more ATC fabulosity from the rest of the team over the next two weeks!

Pirate Otto.

Hello!!  It's Mary here, bringing you a clean and simple (CAS) card.

I decided to color up this sweet Pirate Otto image---because I love him!!  C'mon, how sweet is he??!

I simply stamped him onto Neenah Solar White cardstock with Memento ink in Tuxedo Black and then colored him up with a variety of Copic markers.

A bit of Rock Candy Stickles and some doodling with a Faber-Castell Pitt artist pen...

...along with this awesome Dream Big sentiment and I have myself a sweet and simple card, ready for givin'.

Ok, that's it for me :-)  I hope you have a most FABULOUS day!!

Does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight?

When I was around nine or ten my best friend Rita and I decided to hold a contest. Who could make the largest gum foil ball? Back then gum sticks came in a pack of five and each stick of gum was wrapped in a thin piece of paper stuck to an aluminum sheet. It took some patience but after stuffing each piece of gum into our mouth, we would carefully separate the foil from the paper and then roll the foil into a ball.

I honestly can’t recall how long our contest lasted, or who won, but I distinctly remember a huge argument over the accusation of cheating with Reynolds aluminum foil!

I decided to do a bit of research and found that our idea wasn’t exactly unique. Recently on eBay a vintage six pound gum foil ball sold for $299.99! I never received any money or notoriety from my ball, but am now having a bit of regret that I didn’t save it.

When I saw the adorable Tinfoil man stamp on the VLVS website I knew I just had to try my hand at making a real foil card. It was easier than I thought and I love the way it turned out.

Supplies

Cardstock – white and gray

Silver Stickles

Black/White Patterned Paper

Aluminum Foil

Embossing Folder

I just made a simple greeting card and layered black cardstock on the cover. To emboss the tinfoil I used Miracle Tape to tape down the foil to a piece of cardstock. I then ran it through my Vagabond, cut the embossed piece to the desired size and glued it to the card. I added Silver Stickles to the stamped hats and then glued it to the card.

Have you ever made a tinfoil chewing gum ball? Or a tinfoil hat? The closest thing to a tinfoil hat that I ever wore was using a frozen orange juice can as a hair roller. Can you top that??

Festivus for the rest of us

December is filled to the brim with eagerly awaited holidays. Of course everyone knows it is the month of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, but did you know it was also the month of Repeal Day? Yep, as you sip on that glass of wine remember to thank Congress for repealing the 21st Amendment that ended Prohibition on December 5th. I’ll drink to that!

Another noteworthy day has to be December 16th. It’s National Chocolate Covered Anything Day. Need I say more? The 21stis Humbug Day, the 12th is National Ding-a-Ling Day (what is a Ding-a Ling anyone?) but my favorite holiday is celebrated on the 23rdFestivus Day.

I am relatively new to this holiday tradition but around my house it has become a major celebration. Never heard of it? It was conceived in 1966 but became a part of worldwide popular culture after being featured on an episode of Seinfeld in 1997.

Important aspects of the holiday include an unadorned aluminum pole called a Festivus Pole, and the practices of Airing Ones Grievances and Feats of Strength. Now, some folks describe this holiday as a parody of commercialism, but I for one will be sending out Festivus Cards to all my friends this year – thanks to VLVS.

Every person who sends me a Holiday Card is getting a Festivus Card!

The best thing is that the card smells yummy!

Supplies
Patterned Paper
Simple Patterned Paper
Silver Card Stock
Silver Washi Tape
Card Stock
Red Glitter Paper
MiracleTape
Festivus Stamp
Ink
Incense Stick
Silver Stickles
3 Bling

Directions
1. Cut and fold greeting card with white/off white card stock - 4” x 5 ½”.
2. Make six paper cuts: Patterned Paper 3 ¾” x 5 ¼”, Silver Paper 3 ¼” x 4 ¾”, Simple Patterned Paper – 2” x 5” and 1”x 3 ¾”, Red Glitter Paper – two 1” x ¼” pieces.
3. Stamp sentiment on 1” x 3 ¾” Simple Patterned Paper.
4. Wrap silver Washi Tape onto the 2” x 5” Simple Pattenred Paper.
5. Cut the incense stick to 3” and cover with Silver Stickles.
6. Using Miracle Tape glue all the cut papers and the Festivus Pole onto the card.
7. Attach the Bling and you are ready to send your card to your friends who celebrate Festivus.

A traditional Festivus Dinner does not include alcohol. I get around that critical omission by celebrating Festivus and Repeal Day together. I'll drink to that!

The Mystery of the Giant Eye

I love Halloween. There are many reasons but first and foremost, it’s the candy. Not the eating of it, but the giving and getting that makes it such a fun holiday.

I work for a large non-profit but in my neck-of- the woods, the second floor, there are around 50 folks. Most days, especially around Halloween, our communal kitchen is filled with candy. I occasionally take a few miniature candy bars for 911 moments, but usually just pass them up – too mundane.

This year I wanted to do something special for my co-workers. My inspiration was the story that was sweeping the Internet last week - the errie eyeball that washed up on a beach in Florida.

Supplies
Cellophane Bags
Eye Ball Candy
Black Ink Pad
Scalloped Punch
TH Baroque Die
Stapler
Spooky Paper
White Cardstock
Vintage Photo Distress Ink
Miracle Tape
Mini plastic bugs

Directions
1. Stamp on white cardstock then punch out tag using the scalloped punch.
2.Color in the tongue and eye balls with Stickles. Set aside to dry.
3. Cut out the Spooky Paper with the Baroque Die. This will be the top of the bag.
4. Edge both the bag top and the scalloped tag with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
5. Fill the cellophane bag with assorted plastic bugs and candy eyes.
6. Fold the baroque die cut in half. Place over the cellophane bag and staple in each corner.
7. Attach the scallop tag using Miracle Tape.

BTW that giant eye was the eye of the shark, not the eye of the newt. Either way, it made a great Halloween story. What kind of candy are you giving out this year?
