Skeleton Card & Spooky Take-Out Box

Happy October!!! My name is Susan and this is my first featured project for the VLVS Blog! I am sharing two projects - a Skeleton Card and Spooky Take-out box, both "Halloween" theme. The card features Viva Las Vegastamps "Skeleton Dancing" #7778 using the emboss resist technique. The background began as a section of a painted book page, then I stamped & embossed with VLVS Ultra High Gloss Clear embossing powder. I finished by blending in various distress inks with a makeup sponge. I inked the top hat and cane with a permanent black marker and finished off with pearl Dew Drops and glitter stickers.
Now for the Spooky Take-out box... I just had to make this using "Glitter Ghost Camo" Halloween paper and Dew Drops from "The Robin's Nest". The paper is soooo cute. The vellum round metal rimmed tag is stamped using VLVS Cat, Bat & Pumpkins #2886 Stamp and hand-colored. The box has mini skulls for feet, faux barbed wire for the handle and a little bling with orange Dew Drops. The "Boo" accent was a button that I clipped the shank off of. This little box came together very quickly with my new best friend...Miracle Tape!!! It's ease of use and versatility make this my must-have adhesive - not to mention it is quite easy to remove the backing {which is a real pet peeve when it comes to adhesives}.
Here's a couple detail photos to get a closer look...I would also to like to invite you to play along with the VLVS Theme Challenge for October. Submit your "Halloween" theme creations using Viva Las Vegastamps for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate at the VLVS online store. CLICK HERE for info on submissions. I encourage you to take some time to browse around the Viva Las Vegastamps store - there is something for EVERY occasion and theme...and even some that will make you laugh out loud.

Great job on your first post Susan! I love both projects! Making a box out of the Robin's Nest paper was very clever and I love the barbed wire handle!
