You are beautiful

Hi Hermine here, I had a good time playing around with the gelli plate. Awesome thing is that you always end up with more then one.

step 1 :  Brayer one colour Memento Luxe onto you gelli plate, then take a stencil put it on your gelli plate, take a second colour Memento Luxe and brayer over your stencil.
step 2 : Stamp with Stazon Black the Butterfly Gossamer Large 7760 and colour the image with colouring pencils.
step 3 : then stamp with Stazon Black the Writing Chevron 19824, the row of Chevrons 19829 twice and the tekst You are beautiful 19832. Colour the row of chevron in with markers.
step 4: Take a black fine liner and doodle a border around the gelli print, colour some spaces in with a marker.

As you can see there is still lots of ink left on the gelli plate to make a second one. Here I stamped the Brown Towhee 15392 and the Multi-leaf Branch 14088 with Stazon Black. Coloured the bird with ZIG markers.

Hope you like it.

Warmly Hermine

Mail Art Monday by Jenn Engle

Hey Everyone! I two envelopes to share today. The first one is one of my favorite ways to decorate my envelopes and so much fun to do! You could use the same background technique over and over and just changed out the stamps you use for a different look every time.

Be sure to check out the process video and a list of all the stamps I used at the bottom of this post.

Here is a complete start to finish video of my Mail Art piece!

The second envelope I have to share is much simpler to make and takes way less time.

It's Never Too Late

Hey all!!!  Michele here today sharing a mixed media canvas with a clay piece inspired by our very own Tina Walker.
I was working on another project using clay and had a little bit left over and just decided to stamp on it, I am so glad I did!!

I stamped Clockface on the clay and baked until it hardened, this is my focal piece.

On my canvas I used Nesting Gears and Waybill/Invoice Background in the backgound along with the UmWow Studios stencil (chunky circles) and modeling paste for the first layer of the background. The next layer is bits and bobs from Prima, Tim Holtz, Um Wow and some vintage pieces I have been collecting covered in gesso.

I added color with gelatos, that was FUN!!!

I added the sentiment with my Dymo Label Maker and viola!!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time, get inky!!

Well behaved women...

Hello everyone,

Today for my blogpost I am sharing an art journal that was part of a set of three art journals that I submitted to RubberStampMadness for publishing in their summer 2016 edition (women of the world)  but unfortunately they didn't make it.
One of my postcards did make it into this edition so it was not all bad ! haha....
Anyway, this art journal was my favourite of the three so for today's post I tweaked it a little here and there and here it is :

I made this page by cutting a piece of Mixed Media paper to size and painting it with gesso. Next I painted it with acrylic paints and dried it. I used a stencil (Tim Holtz - Scribbles) over top with Distress Ink and a blending tool in similar colours.
I then stamped the background using Archival Inks in similar colours and also some black. (A complete list of all the stamps I used is at the bottom of this post.)
The image of the girl and the sentiment were both stamped on white card stock and coloured with Copic Markers. I then cut them out and adhered them to the page. A double doodle line around the edges finished it off.

I used the following stamps:

Thank you so much for stopping by !

Seek Paradise

Hi, Nikki here, and today I am celebrating all things elephant.
Look at this gorgeous and serene animal, Sitting Elephant  :

The background is kraft cardstock. I added a thin layer of  Golden acrylic ground for pastels onto my craft mat and placed the card stock ontop of it and pulled it up. When its dry it gives a really rough textures, even more so because of how I added the medium. I added a little colour with prisma pencils to the background. I stamped my focal image, Sitting Elephant in black stazon, and coloured him with inktense pencils, gel pen, sharpie paint pen and Faber Castell Artist pitt pens. I drew the stem from his hat and added the punched out flower. I coloured around the elephant with prisma colour pencils. To add a little more interest to the background I stamped Fantasy Bird in the background in pink ink and clear embossed it.

There's so much texture in this, here's a close up :

The final thing was to add the sentiment, Seek Paradise and the bakers twine and heart embellishment.

Thanks for stopping by, Nikki x

Time to Celebrate- Mail Art Monday

Hello Again!!!

Welcome back for another fun Mail Art Monday project!!!

This one is super special to me.

This was created in honor of my friends and I finally graduating dental hygiene school!

Yes, that's right... I'm officially a Registered Dental Hygienist!!!

SO... Let's ... CELEBRATE!!!!

To start I began by stamping the creepy cone hat and creepy bald guy, and masking them off.  I also stamped the writing triangles and masked them off too.  At this time you should also mask of your desired address space (and trace around it).

Now time to add the fun stuff...
Stamp the doodle frame first across the top, then the chevron banner below it...
(because why have 1 banner when you can have 2 !?! )
Stamp Celebrate above the address box

Are you still hanging in there?
Good!
Time to pull this all together... I used Distress ink in blues, greens, and yellows to base ink the background... then to detail the background I randomly stamped the doodle dots and numbers set.
Now stamp the dictionary page around the edges to help pull focus to the center.

Now, Lets see how things look without the masks.
(this is always one of my favorite parts!)

Ok, now we are in the final stages!!
Stamp the stitching on the address label and color everything in.
(I used watercolor brush pens to color mine)

Then, to finish everything off I used black pan pastels to edge everything and make them pop!

Thanks for sticking in with me, I know this was a long one.
I hope you enjoyed this piece as much as me!!

Expanding your creative options with stamps!

Hi...

Happy Friday!  Tina here today with a project that really expands how you can use your rubber stamps.

Rubber stamps are one of the most versatile products you can have in your creative stash.  They are quite often the go-to for card making, scrapbooking, and mixed media backgrounds.  Today, I will show you how you can use stamps with clay to create a three-dimensional, assemblage piece of art.

To be honest, I got so into making my Moon Child assemblage piece, I completely forgot to take in process pictures of each step, but no worries, it is quite easy.

Step One:  Prepare and roll out clay to approx 1/4 in thick.  You can use airdry clay (that is what I used for this project), or oven bake clay.).

Step Two:  Gently press stamp into clay, evenly pressing the image so it creates a consistent imprint.

Step Three:  Trim around image and set aside.  Special note:  if you will be attaching jump rings (as above), create holes in soft clay before it hardens.  If you wait till the clay hardens, drilling will crack your piece.

Step Four:  Allow to dry completely.  Mine took about 48 hours, but I live in a very humid area.

Step Five:  Paint.  I used basic acrylic paints and spray mists to color my images.

I added several molded resin casts and paper elements complete her look.  I really love she is unique and one-of-a-kind.
