Art journal page - #whatever

Hi everyone,

Hope you're ready for a little weird journal page? It's one of the more simple projects, but also one of my favorites.

I've been doing a lot of gelli printing in the last weeks and want to share a journal page made with one of my prints. Well, it was actually just the remaining color of a previous print that I pulled of my plate. It has a size of 5.5 x 5.5 inch. I just added a few splatters with a spray from Lindy's Gang. It has a lot of white space and the colors mostly concentrate around the edges. Of course you could recreate a background like this with other techniques than gelli printing or by adding white paint to one of your prints.

I chose the 'nice gentleman' from the creanciers stamp as my focal image and stamped him onto a piece of plain tissue. This way it was easy to remove the areas around his head with just a wet brush. I was a little rough while gluing him to my page and ripped a hole to the napkin in the area of the man's shoulder. To fix this, I added a little black acrylic paint and even a little more to make him fade a bit into the background. I also added some black splatters to the whole page but more concentrated around his shoulders. Doesn't it look like he is starting to dissolve?

It took me a while to figure out where this page was going. I thought about adding another element to the forground, but wasn't happy with it and discarded the idea. Instead I added a little stamping to the background. For that, I chose the error stamp as well as the word weirdo from a quote stamp saying "we are the weirdos, mister". I stamped both multiple times in different directions and used two different colors. I also added a little more of the aqua tone from the Lindy's spray to the background. I tried to highlight the reinforcement washers on his eyes and mouth a little with a white marker, but to be honest it didn't make a huge different as the background was already very light. After inking the edges with black, the page looked almost finished.

All that was left to do was stamping the "#whatever" to the upper left corner and gluing the page to a piece of black cardstock to go into my disc bound journal.

Stamps used:
Creanciers (3613)
Error (20558)
We Are The Weirdos (20275)
#whatver (20328)

Other material:
- gelli printed paper
- Versafine ink (nocturne)
- Archival ink (watering can, paradise teal)
- acrylic paint (Liquidex - mars black)
- Lindy's Gang starburst spray (outer space aqua)
- napkin/tissue
- matte medium

See you soon!

Art journal page - All the answers

Hey everyone,

Today I'm sharing a fun and snarky page from my art journal. We all could need something to make us smile in moody January, right?

My background is a simple one. I started with two pieces of gelli printed tissue that I had on my desk from a previous project. For a little more detail I stamped and heat embossed some doodle dots and also added some contrasting pink splatters of acrylic spray paint.

The girl sitting in a suitcase seemed to be the perfect focal point. I stamped her, did some quick coloring with ZIG brush pens and cut her out. Also, I inked up the cutting edges to make her blend better into the page.

I don't like my focal points to just float around on my page. So I stamped the scallop onto another gelli print and cut that out, too. To avoid the details of the stamp to get lost, I stamped it directly on the page before I glued the girl and the scallop I cut out on top.

The last thing I added was a quote. I stamped it onto some white cardstock, cut it into pieces and inked the edges a little to help it standing out from the page.

Stamps used:
Doodle Dots (19827)
Typeset Scallop (20163)
Lady Drinking Tea In Box (20080)
I Used To Have All The Answers (3124)

Other material:
- art journal (mine is from Dylusions)
- Versafine ink (nocturne)
- Versamark ink
- gelli printed tissue and paper (or any other printed paper)
- embossing powder (floral blue medium by Stampendous!)
- acrylic spray (or paint mixed with a little water)
- ZIG real brush markers

Hope you enjoyed my inspiration. See you soon!

Don't be an idjit

Hello everyone,

For today's post I have made a tag with some of the latest release stamps.

..and here's how:

I cut a tag out of a gelli print from my stash. It was made with blue and green acrylic paint and a stencil.

Next I coloured Sasquatch with Copic Markers and cut him out. I set him aside until I was ready to use him.

I stamped the sentiments I was planning to use.

I stamped the background of the tag and also stamped Sasquatch again. I do this so if I don't cut out the coloured image perfectly, it will still look perfect when I glue it over top. The tag is now ready for finishing.

I started with splatters which I added with a paint pen. Just shake it at the tag.
I glued Sasquatch down and added some washi tape for him to stand on. I glued the sentiment in place and added some lines and doodles with a graphite pencil.

I think it turned out great !

I used the following stamps:

Other materials:

Gelliprint

Archicval inks:
Jet Black - Aquamarine and Leaf Green

Distress Oxide Ink:
Tumbled Glass

Paintpen
Graphite pencil
Copic markers

Stop wars

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my first December post. Today I have an artjournal page to show you.

The background is a gel printed piece of paper from my stash. I randomly stamped it with Distress Oxide inks, black VersaFine and some grey StaZon. I stamped the Stormtrooper and Toto on my page and on some watercolour paper. After colouring the images with watercolours and som coloured pencils I cut them out and arranged them on my page. I added some colour under his brush and some shading under their feet. A border drawn with a graphite pencil finished it off.

I have used the following stamps:

Other materials:
A gel printed background from my stash
Distress Oxide Inks
StaZon ink
Versafine Ink
Watercolour paints

Freaky little thing

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my post where today I am sharing a postcard.

I used a piece of gel printed paper for the background and stamped it randomly.
I then stamped the balloon dog, reversed him and coloured him with Copic Markers. I added some highlights with a white paint pen.
The girl was stamped without her heart and coloured with pencils. I did this because I used a different ink to stamp her, to get a nice black image. I then cut both images out and adhered them to the card. I drew in the lead for the dog.
The last thing was the sentiment which I stamped and cut into pieces and adhered.

I used the following stamps:

Other materials:
a gelli printed piece of paper
Archival ink - Vermillion
Versafine - Clair - Nocturne
Coloured pencils
Copic markers

Mister Weirdo

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the VLVS! blog where today I am sharing a journal page that I did. I must have been in a really strange mood because it definitely turned out weird !

This page was made on a mop up page from the gel press plate. They sometimes turn out better than the proper prints. Anyway, I added some stamping with Distress Oxide inks, and a light grey Stazon. Later on I added the black stamping with a VersaFine Clair ink pad.

I stamped the focal image in book paper and tore the edges. I have been intrigued by this image for years and finally ordered it ! I also looked up what Creanciers means (the name of the stamp). Turns out it means creditors but in this case it was a play written by August Strindberg and it is his face on this stamp.

I decided to call him Mister Weirdo and place a griffon peeking out from behind his shoulder. Can it get any weirder ! lol

Here is a close up of all the stamping. I love cluster stamping, it adds so much interest.

I have used the following stamps :

Other materials :
A gelli print from my stash
Distress Oxide Inks:
Cracked Pistachio, Tumbled Glass, Twisted Citron and Peeled Paint
StaZon :
Dove Gray
Versafine Clair:
Nocturne
Bookpaper
a black pen

Still obsessed with Banksy !

Hello everyone,

For today's post I have made some ATC Coins. They seem to be all the rage at the moment and they are good fun to make. I couldn't resist getting my Banksy's out again because I still love them...

here goes:

I used a gelli print from my stash and cut 5 circles out of it. An ATC Coin should be 2.5" in diameter.

And here they are. In hindsight I should have done the stamping and stencilling first before cutting the circles but it did work in the end..

I used a few background stamps and Archival inks in similar colours to create more interest.
I also added some dots in dark grey ink.

Next I selected a bunch of Banksy stamps and sentiments and used my stamping platform to get a nice black image.

This is what they looked like. I thought they needed some white so I decided to add some stencilling using white acrylic paint.

So, this is what they ended up as. I really like them.

A close up.

and another close up.

Spend your life ..

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my blogpost. Today I have made an art journal page with some of the latest new stamps.

I used one of my gelli printed papers. I do have a stash for easy crafting ! lol I did see it was getting a little low so I will probably have to have a printing session soon.
I didn't really do anything to this background because I thought is was nice as it was.

I used some of the images of the new plate 1501 for this spread. List of stamps used is at the bottom of this post. I stamped the girl, coloured her with Copic Markers and cut her out.

The whale was stamped on tissue paper and adhered to the page. This just seemed to work better here. I added some colour with Big Brush Pitt Pens.

I did the same for this narwhal.
After doing all this I stamped the sentiment, cut it into strips and adhered to the page too. Lastly I drew a line around the edges.

I used the following stamps :
