TWO BUTTERFLY TAGS - by Fran Chalmers

Hi everyone!

Today I have made two small tags using the same stamps and similar colours, but they are quite different. I hope you like them.

For the first tag, I made a background using Salty Ocean and Blueprint Sketch distress oxides, mixed with water on a mat.

I then stamped round the edge with Writing and Scibbles Collage stamp  in Versafine Clair Blue Belle to add some interest.

I then stamped the main image in Versafine Clair Nocturn in the centre of the tag.  I masked off the top butterfly so the image would fit on the tag!

I went round the edge of the tag with Wilted Violet Distress Oxide, and added some sequins to give some texture and sparkle.

With the second tag, I started by stamping the image onto white card with Versafine Clair Blue Belle. I then went round the edge with Distress Oxide in Tumbled Glass.

Again, I added some interest round the edge using the Writing and Scribbles Collage stamp, this time stamped in Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass

I then added some splats in blue Posca pen, and went round the very edge with Distress Oxide in Blueprint Sketch. I also added some clear dew drop gems for some bling.

To finish both tags, I added some threads in coordinating colours.

Writing and Scribbles Collage 20695

Other items used:

Distress oxides in Blueprint Sketch, Tumbled Glass, Wilted Violet, Salty |Ocean
Versafine Clair inks in Blue Belle and Nocturn

All how wander by Cathy

Cathy here and today I have a card for you.

I started out with watercolor paper and 3 colors of green distress inks. I smooched it on my craft mat and added some water to blend the colors. I started with the lightest color and worked my way to the darkest. I dried in-between the colors so they could layer.

Next, I grabbed a Tim Holtz dot stencil and added it the background with the darkest green ink to add a layer.

Next, I stamped the Butterfly Specimens in the middle of the panel with black ink. I then stamped Victorian Flourish with the same dark green ink. I only used a corner of the stamp. After that I then stamped Waybill background in brown distress ink randomly over the whole panel. I only used the top part of this stamp.

To finish it off I edged it in drown distress ink and on top of that I added a layer of black distress ink. Lastly, I stamped Not all who wander saying on white cardstock and layered it on black cardstock and stuck in in the middle of the card.

Stamps Used:

Butterfly Specimens

Victorian Flourish

Waybill background

Not all who wander

Other supplies used:

watercolor paper

amalgam ink

You Are Here

hello everyone.
It's Leanne back with another crazy installment...
this time I didn't really know where to start .. No Surprises there..
so I started with stamping some of my background stamps onto tissue paper with Stazon Ink.
I mean we can never have too much collage paper can we.....

so then I got out my art journal and collaged up a background..
still no clue where it was going... added some crackle and some masking tape for texture..

and then i added some colour paint and removed some through a stencil. all the time building up layers. Lisa Oxley inspired
and then i thought.. this is grungy so I would add some Banksy..
of course..
so I stamped the Banksy: Mom Prepareing Anarchist stamp onto a piece of Pianola roll.
I liked the words.

stuck all of it down. added some more paint the same way as before..
and then I thought if I'm going Banksy I need some Brick wall,
so I used the Row of Scribble Square.. because they are Brickish..
and embossed it with some chunky Lindy's gang embossing powder.,
and then it wasn't quite bricky enough.. so I stamped the same stamp with 2 different distress oxide colours and then spritz some water..

and to Finish it all of I found a title and Stamp and Embossed it white..
outlined the words with Stabilo All Pencil (Black) and then activated it and just let it pool around the embossing..
finished off by outlining it all with stabilo and activating it to give it some grunge.

and this is the result..

"You are Here"
 Do I like it?
the jury is still out. But what I really LOVED was the Process.
the process is what gives me STRENGTH
(Cue this months Challenge..... #april20)

and some more close ups for you.....

Easy ATCs with Jenn Engle

Hey everyone! Today I have some super easy Artist Trading Cards to share with you. All you need is some patterned paper and some of your favorite VLVS stamps!

STAMPS USED:

First, I started by cutting some 7 Dots Studio patterned paper into 6 pieces of 2.5" by 3.5 " (the size of an artist trading card). Then, I took some of my favorite Viva Las VegaStamps stamp and randomly stamped around my cards with Staz-On ink in Timber Brown.

Next, I figured out where I wanted each of my Tim Holtz Paper Dolls to sit on each card. I took Dina Wakley Scribble Sticks in "Night" for one set and "Umber" for the other and drew an area for my paper dolls to stand on. I also dissolved some of the pigment from the scribble sticks to use for splatters on my cards. I also used the "Umber" Scribble Stick to outline my cards.

Finally, I glued the Paper Dolls down and stamped "Dreamer" or "Dreamers" from the Dreamers Only Stamp by Car Kerr.

And that is all there is to it! A super quick and easy way to make a bunch of ATCs at a time.

STAMPS USED:

Other Products Used:
Patterned Paper - 7 Dots Studio
Staz-On - Timber Brown
Dina Wakley Media Scribble Sticks - Umber & Night
Tim Holtz Paper Dolls

Mail Art Monday with Jenn Engle

Hey friends! Today I have an envelope to share with you.

Stamps Used:

I started out by putting a layer of gesso on my envelope. I taped off the center of Bug Specimens because I just wanted the frame. I could then heat emboss with black embossing powder to get a blank space for the address. Then, I heat embossed Wildflowers Silhouette with white embossing powder. I did this so it would act as a resist for the next step.

I added some Distress Oxide Ink to my background to make it look like the sky. Where I had embossed the flowers, there was no ink and you can see the flowers perfectly now!

While my background dried, I took a piece of cardstock and several colors of Distress Ink and used a paintbrush to splatter all over the paper. I used Distress Inks, but any kind of watercolors or even acrylic paint would work. It just needs to be thin enough to be able to splatter with a paintbrush. Once I was happy with all the colors, I stamped Butterfly Specimens and fussy cut several of the butterflies.

I glued the butterflies down with several strings of yellow thread behind them to make them stand out. I also only put glue on their bodies so their wings could stand up. If I was going to send this thru the mail on its own, I would skip the thread and adhere the butterflies completely.

Finally, I splattered some watered down Dina Wakley Acrylic in Lemon around the envelope and that was it! To see exactly how I made this, you can check out the process video!
