Not every piece of street art is Banksy

Hello everyone,

welcome to the VivaLasVegaStamps! blog where today I have a tag to share:

here's how I made this:

I started with cutting a tag out of Mixed Media Paper and colouring it with Lindys Stamp gang sprays. I used Star Burst sprays which are sparkly.

Next I stamped randomly over the tag with different VLVS! Stamps (list below) and I also used an Um Wow studio stencil called Dahlia with white paint. Because the sprays are watersoluble they react with the white paint.

Next I stamped this lady on the tag and on some more MM paper; I coloured her with Zig Clean Color real brush markers and cut her out.

I then glued the cut out one onto the one on the tag; this was all the small details that are impossible to cut out, are there too.

Next I stamped the sentiment, cut it into strips and adhered it to the tag. I doodled around the strips and also along the edges of the tag with a black pen.

Lastly I added a piece of ribbon.

I have used the following stamps:

Other materials:
Mixed Media Paper; I used Daler Rowney 169 lb. or 250 gsm
UmWow Studio Dahlia stencil
Amsterdam Acrylic - Titanium White
Lindy's stamp gang Star Burst sprays: Marigold Yellow Orange and Yellow Rose of Texas
a piece of ribbon
Black pen
VersaFine Ink Onyx Black
Distress Oxide - Carved Pumpkin
StaZon - Dove Grey

Follow your heart

Hello everyone,

Today's VivaLasVegaStamps! project is a card. I used my favourite colours too !

and here's how I made it:

I used Distress Oxides and the 'smooshing' method..

This is the result. I love those bright colours !

Next I added white acrylic paint through this Um Wow Studio stencil called 'Chunky Heart Stencil' and went around the hearts inside the stencil with a white paint pen.

I also rolled over some more white paint with a brayer. Next I randomly stamped the background using the same Distress Oxides and some black Versafine Clair ink.

I chose this bunny for my focal point, he is going to carry the heart. I stamped it in pink but later changed it to black.

I coloured the bunny with Copics and added more shading with coloured pencils, cut him out and cut his arm loose. I then tucked the heart underneath.

I then assembled everything together. I also added some pink splatters and a doodle line along the edges of the card panel. Lastly I adhered the panel onto a white card base measuring 5"x7".

I have used the following stamps:

Other materials:
Distress Oxide inks - Carved Pumpkin, Picked Raspberry and Mustard Seed
Um Wow Studio stencil 'Chunky Heart Stencil'
White acrylic paint
Posca paint pens in white and pink
Copic Markers
Coloured pencils by Caran d'Ache
Versafine Clair Nocturne, Memento Tuxedo Black
A piece of washitape

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

Viewer discretion

Hello everyone,

For today's inspiration I have done an art journal. I don't know about you, but I love art journaling although some would say is wasn't journaling as I don't actually journal usually. For me playing with inks and paints and other mediums is enough. So this is what I came up with:

This was great fun to make. I started with painting the pages with gesso. Next I thought about paint but decided to colour my pages with Distress Oxide Inks. I forgot how well this works.
I started with rubbing the ink pads over the page; fossilised Amber in the middle, Carved Pumpkins next and some Picked Raspberry along the edge. I used a brush and some water to blend it. After drying I went back in with a blending tool and the same inks to make them a little brighter here and there.
I also used a stencil and some more of the Carved Pumpkin ink to get some interests on the pages.

Next I did some stamping using the same inks, adding Broken China for more contrast. I also used some Archival and StaZon.

When I was happy with the how it looked a added splatters with paint pens and stamped my focal image and the sentiment. I coloured the mermaid and cut her out. I cut the sentiment in strips and adhered both to the pages. I did add some shading with a coloured pencil under the mermaid and around the words.

I have used the following stamps:

20163 - Typeset scallop
20170 - Rows of Numbers
20162 - Carved Xs
20165 - Crossmarks background
20150 - String of tassels
20152 - Fancy Mermaid
20100 - Some viewers

Other supplies:
Distress Oxide inks in
Fossilized Amber
Picked Raspberry
Carved Pumpkin
Broken China
UmWow Studio stencil "Dahlia"
Ranger Archival Ink "Jet Black"
StaZon ink "Dove Gray"
Memento "Tuxedo Black"
Posca Paintpens in white and pink
Copic Markers

Thank you so much for looking today !

Merry & Bright | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!
Sue Plumb here with my latest VLVS design team project for you. Given that Christmas is a mere week away (eeeek!) and we have an "Ugly Christmas Sweater" challenge this month (details HERE), I thought it might be timely to share a scrapbook layout featuring some of the recently released Christmas stamps and a photo of my kids with Santa.

As it is summer time here in Australia at Christmas (and partly because I am not a fan), I tend to steer away from the "traditional" red / forest green Christmas colour combination and lean towards brighter colours that more accurately reflect our season.

I began this page with some white Bazzill cardstock and Dina Wakley acrylic paints (turquoise, lime, sky, blushing and ruby), which I applied using a brayer and my fingers to build up some layers of colour. I also splattered some Colour Blast 'Soot' Colour Artist Ink around the page.

I then took an assortment of Christmas-themed stamps and used them to add some interest to my background. I used a combination of black StazOn ink and Paradise Teal Ranger Archival ink. The stamps I used were:

I then added a variety of patterned paper pieces from Cocoa Vanilla Studio to form a layered mat for my photo, before adding some frayed gauze and my photo on top.

To embellish my page, I used some cool chipboard Christmas trees from the Yuletide MASH pack by UmWow Studio, which I coloured using a gold paint pen before sticking them down with a liquid adhesive.

I layered the chipboard trees with some assorted Christmas themed wood veneer pieces; flair button; resin star; enamel dots; and red & white paper flowers from Cocoa Vanilla Studio; plus a few tiny pale blue flowers from D-lish Scraps.

For my page title, I stamped the May Your Days Be Merry stamp a couple of times, then overlaid it with a merry&bright wood veneer piece (also from Cocoa Vanilla Studio and coloured gold with a paint pen).

To finish off my page I added my handwritten journalling with a Sharpie, and some splatters of Colour Blast 'Bling' Colour Shimmer Spray.

Thanks so much for stopping by today so I could share this with you. I hope I have inspired you to document your precious Christmas memories too or perhaps get an entry in for the December monthly challenge.
I would like to take this opportunity wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year!

Art is anything you can get away with.

Hello everyone,

Today I have a tiny little book to show you. Sometimes I just fancy doing something different and one day I made a little booklet from one sheet of 12' x 12' paper. It was lying on my desk when I  thought to cover the outside of it in fabric and next to add gesso to the cover and the pages too. Before I knew it I had stencilled, stamped and doodled on the pages and this little book was born ! I love it and will make more !

Here is the outside. If you want to make one of these books; there are lots of tutorials on the internet and youtube. Just look for 'book from one sheet of 12 x 12 paper'.

There are 8 double spread mini art journals in this book and here are the photos.

Spread no. 1
I used an UmWow Studio stencil and Distress Oxides for this.

Spread 2. Stencil used is by UmWow Studio and I used Distress Oxide Ink.

Spread 3. Stencil by UmWow Studio, used with Distress Oxide Ink.

Spread 4. Stencil by UmWow Studio, used with Distress Oxide Ink.

Spread 5. Stencil by PaperArtsy used with Distress Oxide ink.

Spread 6. Stencil by UmWow Studio, used with Distress Oxide Ink.

Spread 7. Stencil by UmWow Studio, used with Distress Oxide Ink.

Spread 9. Stencil by UmWow Studio, used with Distress Oxide Ink.

Another view of the book.

Bloom

Another fabulous Mail Art Monday!!  Michele here with a summery postcard.

Reminds you of summer doesn't it??  Here is how I did it.

I started with the hexagon stencil from Um Wow Studio.

I used a black pen and traced some of the hexagons on a piece of watercolor paper.

I stamped the Wildflower Silhouette a couple of times over the hexagons.

I stamped the Bumble Bee and got out my watercolor pencils and started coloring.

I used my water pen to blend.

I finished off with some splatters with Distress Spray.

I just love that fuzzy bumble bee!!

I used the Sawtooth Stitching Lines  to create the postcard on the back.

I stamped the Bloom where you are Planted sentiment and the Single Sunflower/small with another awesome bumble bee as my message, colored and viola!

Until next time...get inky!!
