Living on the Fringe...

Hello Again!

Today I'm going to share some super fun inspiration for the
Viva Las VegaStamps Monthly Challenge

Top secret
Fringe Scientist
Circulatory system
Coffee ring stain
Double coffee ring

Other products used:
Archival ink- jet black
Distress ink-gathered twigs, ground espresso
Versafine ink- vintage sepia
Tim Holtz-index clips and mini paper clips
Tim Holtz- remnant runs
Mica Tiles
A2 sized file card

Starting with my file card base, I stamped my main image "circulatory system" in versafine ink.

I used some ink smushing to distress my card with distress ink. I also edged the card using a blending tool.

On a separate piece of cardstock I stamped the top secret,  and fringe scientist. I used distress ink to grunge them up.

To add extra depth,  I stamped my evidence stamp lightly  as well as my 2 coffee ring stamps (See stamp list above).

Lastly, I added used various remnant runs, clips, and my sheet of mica to finish the card off.

Thank you for visiting!
Hope you are all warm and safe.

Through the looking glass

Hello everyone,

The month of November has just started and that means the start of a new challenge! It is a fun one too !

Here is the inspiration board:

The words to go with this are : books, journals, alice in wonderland, gardens, garden items, terrariums, cloches, florals, pretty backgrounds, stark focal points, numbers, dates.

Of course when I saw the words : Alice in Wonderland I was sold ! I have made an Art Journal page:

This was so much fun to make ! I started with heat embossing the flowers with white embossing powder. Next I used Distress Oxide Inks to make the background. I used Antique Linen, Fossilised Amber and Peeled Paint. I used the same inks to stamp over the background here and there. Next I stamped the Alice in Wonderland figures on white card stock and gave them a tiny bit of shading, cut them out and adhered them onto the page. I also added some shading under the figures. Lastly I stamped the sentiment.

I have used the following stamps:

The floral stamp I used for the background and the library dates stamp are from the new release
Plate 1508; these will be available for single purchase soon.

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

Life is an Adventure | June Challenge Inspiration | Sue Plumb

Hi everyone!
Sue Plumb here today and it's my turn to share some inspiration for the Viva Las VegaStamps Monthly Challenge with you! If you haven't already seen the June inspiration image, it looks like this...

"Let's play with LIFE. Be inspired by nature, the tree of life, trees & roots, stars, star charts, the heavens & earth, above & below. Think tandem but opposite. Yin & Yang."

I was super inspired by the solitary tree image, and I knew I wanted to create something featuring a tree and incorporating the word "life". I was also inspired by the neutral palette of the image, so I grabbed my altered book art journal to play and this is what came out...

As always, I did my best to document my process as I went along (although sometimes I get so lost in the creative process, I forget to take a picture!)

1. I started by adding some gesso to my book page. This was not only so I could prime the surface, but also so I could strip the yellow tint to the paper back a bit.
2. I then took some old music paper and another sheet of book paper tore up some small pieces. (I wanted to add some extra interest to the page, as the one I was using was the dedication page and didn't feature much text.)
3. I collaged the pieces onto the page using matte medium.
4. I then rubbed a little extra gesso over the collaged pieces using my finger to help them blend in.

5. I felt like using a different colouring medium, so pulled out some water soluble wax pastels in raw sienna, burnt sienna and black and added some colour to the page.
6. I then used a water brush to blend and soften the lines I had drawn.

7. I used the Stitching Lines stamp to create structure in my foreground.
8. I then used the Doodle Dots stamp to add some interest to the sky.

9. I then stamped out my feature images onto some tissue paper. I chose this method as I wanted to ensure I had a good, clean image rather than stamping directly onto the book. It also gave me the ability to shuffle the images around to decide on placement.
The stamps I used were:

10. I adhered my images to the page using matte medium, then took the pastels and added a little shading and colour around them.
11. I added the quote using the Choose Your Own Adventure stamp, then added the remainder with a black pen.

12. I finished with the second part of my quote in the bottom corner. For continuity, I used the word "choose" from the same stamp, then simply added the word well in pen.

I love how this page turned out and I can't wait to see how this month's challenge inspires all of you!

Food soothes the soul

Hello everyone,

Welcome to my blogpost where today I am sharing some inspiration for the latest Challenge. This is the mood board:

And this is what I made of it :

This postcard was made with white card stock which I coloured with Distress Inks and a blending tool. I used 'Antique Linen' and 'Vintage Photo'. I dripped some water over it and then stamped the word foodie with the same Antique Linen Distress Ink.
Next I stamped the onions and made a mask. I masked them off and then stamped the recipe card over the top. Next I coloured in the onions with Copic Markers. The sentiment was stamped separately and cut apart. I adhered it to the card and doodled around the edged. That was it !
I used the following stamps:

I hope I gave you some inspiration to play along with us !

Thank you so much for stopping by today !

Something Wicked

Hello everyone. Shanna here with some challenge inspiration!

I had a blast recreating the challenge inspiration. I haven't made a card lately and I needed some quick and simple to do. This challenge was it!

I decided to make a Halloween card to celebrate and since I haven't made a card in ages I thought this would be fun.

So first I gathered my supplies.

I started with he main image with black ink then added the moon stamp as well.

Then I inked the cardstock with Mustard Seed leaving it white around her to give a glow.

Then I did another layer with Dried Marigold.

Then I did Spiced Marmalade.

Then a layer of Hickory Smoke.

Next I added the trees with black ink as well.

I had some scrap print paper that I gave a coat of gesso.

Then stamped the sentiment Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Rubbed over it with some left over ink.

I had a scrap piece of tea bag paper and I tucked that behind the sentiment to give my card a little more. Then I used a tiny attacher to staple it to the card.

Then mounted the card with sticky tape and bam! You have yourself a Halloween card.

Here are some close up.
