Gal Pals by Cathy N

Hello all you VivaLas VegaStamp peeps. Cathy N here with a card I have made for you.

I started out with this already grungy piece of paper; I stamped it with dark brown distress ink using the Indian head tv test screen. The Gal Pals I used black distress ink. I edged the sides with some brown ink.
Next, I stamped the two vintage ladies on Kraft cardstock and edged that with brown ink. I then picked out some of Tim Holtz ephemera to add to the front of the card. I layered it on blue cardstock and added it to a Kraft card base.

                                                               Stamps Used:

17192 Indian head tv test screen

                                                 17655 Gal Pals

                                                 17647 two vintage ladies

                                                          Other supplies:
                                                 Kraft cardstock
                                                 ephemera
                                                 distress inks
                                                 blue cardstock

We Can't All Be Saints

We can't All Be Saints, ALassiter When I first saw the Nun Licking Gun stamp I giggled a lot, and then immediately thought of a way to incorporate this stamp into a silly project, using a lot of up-cycled materials and ephemera I have hanging around my studio.
I started with a large shipping tag, and used some old book pages from a religious text, that had been thrown into a bin outside the library that I work at. I tore the pages into strips, and added them to the tag horizontally, adhering with a craft and hobby glue. When the glue had dried, I added splashes and flicks of aqua and Caribbean blue paint, and dried it with my craft dryer. I took Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Teal, and sprayed it twice onto my craft mat. I then used a paintbrush to paint the ink onto the edges of the tag, and to add a few splashes cross the tag.
saints, close title

Before adding my ephemera, I stamped with Momento ink in Tuxedo Black , using the cracked background and Stars 2 x 2 1/4 stamps, to add a little pizazz.
wings, ephemera

stamp, Saint, Alassiter

When the stamping was finished, I cut the beautiful saint ephemera from a book, and layered it along the right side of the tag, embellishing with wing, upcycled jewelry piece, and feathers on top of a strip of text that has been pleated and sprayed with color shine in teal.

Finally, I added the image that changed the whole tone of the project, the nun with a gun, which was stamped using black ink, and embossed, using ultra high gloss embossing powder. To draw attention to the image, I elevated it using foam adhesive, and added a strip of trim, and a stamped and cut star pin image, along with a hanging coin.

In the end, I have a project that's not meant to offend, but certainly has a lot of sass, to counter the lovely and saintly ephemera art.

Thanks for having a look today, and grab your tag, and get to stamping!

~Amy

From DT member Cheryl:
 "Faces in the Crowd"

This piece was made using the inside of the pizza box lid as my background. I tore several sheets of kraft papers with some kind of printing on them. After attaching the papers and overlapping then as I went. I then used acrylic paint to change the colors of the lace to match my chosen color scheme. I painted one with an aqua paint and attached to my background. I cut the second of lace around flowers in the original pattern. I then white washed them and also attached them. I painted between several of the overlapped papers. My color scheme was a Shabby Chic combination of Pink, Peach, Mint green, Kaki and White.

I added an Asian book page from my Gauche selection and added my stamp collection.

With all my stamps I used Momento tuxedo black and embossed them with Ultra thick embossing powder. both items available on line at Vivalasvegastamps.com

After all the stamps where completed I cut each one out individually so that I could elevate then to different
levels. I attached them with both double sided foam tape and glue dots

From my Gauche Alchemy selection I also used velvet brads, three labels (I especially liked the Dads Root Beer label that contained another face for my creation).

I also used a chipboard milk bottle cap which I distresses (as I did with all the papers gauche supplied) and
a piece of game money.
