Valley of the Blind - Art Journal spread by Cheetarah

Hi VLVS! fans, hope you all are doing great! It's Cheetarah here and I have a art journal spread to share with you made in my pocket watercolor journal. The stamps I used are listed at the end of the post.

In my Hanemuhle pocket watercolor journal I stamped the whimsical Cyclops and Banksy line of punks with memento Tuxedo black on the pages. It didn't matter that the imprint wasn't as solid black because I am going to use watercolors over it.

I really love the design of this cyclops, the eye is so wonderfully pronounced. Started with the face and just slowly built up layers as you do with watercolors.

When I was satisfied with the look of the face I made a mask by stamping the image on post it paper and stuck it to the colored image before I went to do the background.

Made sun rays by using a stencil and yellow, orange and gold watercolors. I extended the rays to the other page and darkened the 'punks' by using an indigo color mixed with a little bit of magenta to make it a little purple.

To finish the page I stamped big and small numbers plus some dandelion seeds in orange to pull the pages together. The wrote the quote "In the valley of the blind, the One-Eyed person is King" with a Tombow fudenosuke lettering pen.

Altered Folder

Hello all you awesome stampers out there. Shanna here today with an altered folder. I have some tracking sheets (water, meals, and habit tracker) I want to keep in one spot and not all over my office. So I recycled an old office folder to hold them.

So first off I covered it with gesso.

Then I used some acrylic paint with a brayer and spread it across the folder.

While the folder dried I used a mother color on some book paper then stamped with black in The Clockface stamp and cut it out.

Next I stamped the Writing Chevron stamp with some acrylic paint as well.

I used matte medium to adhere the clock face to the folder and gave a shadow outline to it with a  black gelato.

I stamped out the gunny numbers on white paper with black in and then cut them out.

I stamped more on the folder using these stamps and acrylic paint and then let it all dry.

So what do you think. A fun way to add some color to your office storage? I love this folder and think I may have a couple more too make. I think I even may add some stitching to this one.

Foodie

Hello everyone,

and welcome to my first blogpost for 2017 ! I am happy that I am still on the DT team and I look forward to sharing my projects with you !

For today I have made a simple postcard:

I started with a piece of water colour paper sized 6" x 4". I coloured it lightly with watercolours and stamped the macarons on it. I did stamp them separately too on more watercolour paper.
Underneath the macarons on the card I added some shading with a darker colour. Next I watercolored my macarons. Don't they look tasty ! After colouring and drying I cut them out and adhered them to the card on top of the stamped image. I added the sentiment which I clear embossed because it goes a little blacker then. Lastly I added the dots around the edge of the card.

I used the following stamps:

Butterfly Specimen

I have been really wanting to try encaustic art, so after a bit of hemming and hawing...and a bit of research I did it.  Michele here to share an 8x10 encaustic and stamping piece, I had so much FUN!!
Oh, and thanks to Jen Mattot for the fabulous inspiration.

I taped down a piece of heavy watercolor paper to start.  On some old dictionary pages I stamped the Butterfly Specimens in archival ink.

I used mat gel to attach the stamped dictionary pages, let it dry and then stamped the Waybill/Invoice Bachground and Specimen randomly on the page.

I added some great color with Gelatos and water.

Once everything was dry I painted over the entire page with bees wax, let it set and stamped the Gossamer Butterfly on top of the set wax.

Embellished with the Um Wow Studio chipboard butterfly, Prima flowers, May Arts ribbon, thread and gold leaf.

There is a bit of grass in there too...

I attached some burlap string (May Arts) to the page before I painted on the wax.  It created an awesome texture!!

Stamping under and on top of the wax created a great layer!

And I was quite surprised by how well you could see the color and the stamping under the layer of wax.

Dancing with the Sky

Well I had to play around with this art journal page. Do any of you have  those art journal pages or art journals that you use to put your extra ink or extra modeling paste so you don't waste product???

(BIG HAND IN THE AIR HERE)

Well I decided to use one of my wipe off, extra product pages to play with.

So on this page the first bit I did was clean up some blue ink off my desk. Then the next addition to the background was a stencil stamping.  You know when you spray through a stencil and there is spray ALL OVER the stencil... well the stencil got smooshed in here.

Then I recently did some ATC's and had lots of modeling paste left over so I added some stenciling too.

So I played around with the stamps Dictionary Page - 19015 on the bacground and Girl With Wings - 19005. I stamped her on some paper and colored her with some watercolor pencils. I cut her out and added her to the page with some matte gel medium and then added some silver stickles to her wings.

Here you can see some of those leftovers in detail and shimmer.

I try to use up everything I can and create something from nothing. Give it a try and enjoy the process and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Cotton Candy

Hey everyone I (Shanna) am SUPER excited I got some new goodies to play with and the first thing I thought of was using this fabulous stamp.

The stamp I used is called Cotton Candy - 19192. I got inspiration for the background based on fluffy cotton candy. I played with my new Prima Watercolor Pencils creating this "FLUFFY" background.

I have been wanting to use vellum on my cards for a while and I was given the tip to fold the edges over like a wrap. So I stamped the sentiment Until Further Notice - 19172 on the vellum and the scored flaps were glued behind the panel.

I used some foam dots to give a little dimension to the cotton candy and some glitter to really make the cotton candy shine.

Thanks so much for stopping by remember to keep coming back for more inspiration!

Dragonfly Art Journal Page

Hello and welcome everyone to a new day of inspiration here. I made it into a video YAY. So check that out below!

I played in my art journal. YES it was fun too! I got to play with some new sprays, and some metals, and a new stencil. I am crazy excited and loved how this page turned out.

Here you can see the Dragonfly Wings - 11042 were stamped and cut out.

You can see all the stamping I did here using Staz-On Ink and Prima Chalk Inks. All the stamps are listed below. I used a a bit to build up a background!

I used glass beads, in the 3d gloss gel with a stencil.

The tag was a fun add too but I wasn't sure what to write on it or stamp on it so I colored it in with some Bloom Sprays.

The stamps I used are the following:
